Kirstie Alley in a BIKINI on Oprah!

Part of the issue is where she said she started, and it was much more than 220, but we see that all the time. Look at how much they fudge the weight on Fit Club.

I agree. They were showing her "before" photos yesterday. There is no way that she was only 220 lbs. I know a few women who are 220 lbs (and probably shorter than her) and they do not look as big as she did. She. Was. HUGE.

I am 5'7" and I fluctuate between 140 and 148 lbs. I may not be as toned as she is, but I know I am quite a bit thinner. She looks to weigh in the 160 range to me (but she looks great!).

She looks better than she did, but still looks pretty heavy to me, especially from the waist down. And that's coming from a guy, by the way who thinks a gal really has to earn the "right" to put on a two piece, and no way does she have the "right" yet.

And it's comments like this that make me scared to wear a bathing suit at Disney World. Thanks a whole bunch buddy.

I have to say that while she looked great for 55 and I'm sure she has lost somewhere around 75 lbs.....there is no way she weighs 145. I'm a good 3 inches shorter then weigh 20lbs more and my thighs are the same size.

Don't get me wrong she looks absolutely AMAZING!!! I'm so proud of her will power...

Looks nice but no way she weighs only 145 pounds.

What is it with these shows and not giving the actual weight. Biggest loser, Fit Club, and now this. I can't imagine the people who look like them and weigh much more feel good about the lying. I know we don't.
THANK YOU! It is especially heartening to see this post from a guy. She is doing great and I give her all the credit in the world for sticking with it, but she has to weigh at least 20 lbs more than that.

Don't let that stop you from enjoying yourself. :goodvibes People will always think "this or that" about us, there's nothing we can do about that. In the end, does it really matter what a stranger thinks about us? :confused3

The women that look "good" at 55 have done one of two things or a combination of both: exercise several times a week (along with a healthy diet) or cosmetic surgery. There will be something drooping or hanging by that age, that's what aging does. If a woman chooses to have cosmetic surgery, then that's great! Whether it's wearing a bathing suit in our less than perfect bodies or having cosmetic surgery, we should do what makes us happy. We only have one life. :thumbsup2

Just like a guy having to earn the right to even consider a speedo (as icky as they are)?! Let's have you post a picture of yourself & we can judge you! :furious:

I, amazingly, read this whole thread. I truthfully cannot believe that women have to "earn the right" to wear a bikini. That seems to be a horrid idea that the US seems to follow. While on vacation many times, I have come across many women who are beautiful but not "perfect" wearing bikinis. They look fabulous and they are happy in what they wear. In fact a girl on a cruise I was on who had to be a plus size looked so good & comfortable that it inspired me to buy one. I love them now and cannot imagine going back... though once in a while I do worry I am not good enough for one... comments like that just remind me I am probably not "worthy" but my DH likes it so what do I care ;)

As for her lying about her weight... I truly don't know. I won't say what I weigh now because my stomach is not what it used to be due to being pregnant so it won't matter.

When I weighed 145 at 5' I probably looked heavier than that. At 125 I probably looked fairly close to what she does. I can't say she is lying or not because of that. I remember another thread not too long ago where I said being tall at a size 12 doesn't mean you will look fat or skinny... same with being short. Some look awesome as a size 12 at my height... I personally don't.
When I weigh 125 I am really close to most size 2s out there. I just don't always look "teeny" if that makes sense. I carry my weight in my legs/hips and in my chest. My stomach will look itty bitty from the side but the rest of me doesn't.

I think she has come a long way and is looking fabulous! I really do give her credit for losing so much weight and obviously happy about it!

I think you should post a pic of yourself in swimming attire and let us judge if you've earned the "right" to wear it. ;) :teeth:

I think comments like this prove the point that she is not necessarily lying about her weight, everyone carries it differently. At 5'7" when I weighed 125 I was a size 11. Helenabear is a 2 at the same weight and shorter. There is absolutely NO WAY you can tell from a photo. And yes, she does look great. I only wish I looked that good. Yes her legs look big, but they look SOLID.

If your extending that stupid comment beyond the person that made it, don't. The majority don't think like that.

I just wanted to comment on the "hose" comment - if anyone here has ever been to Las Vegas or seen a showgirl on TV will see that even the 5'10" dancers who weigh 120 pounds wear "hose" on their legs. People on the radio were saying today "Oh she looked ok, but she had on pantyhose holding her in". I honestly don't think the hose do much more than smooth you out because they are not control top or anything.

My mom used to wear hose to the beach because she had bad veins in her legs and was more comfortable with a smoothed out look, so maybe i'm just not that surprised that someone would wear them under a swimsuit or an outfit - especially on TV.

I lost 50 lbs on Weight Watchers, got down to 125, but after 4 kids, there is NOTHING I've done or can do, except maybe a tummy tuck, to make the belly flat and tight again. Not gonna happen! :confused3

Yep, I agree. After 3 kids, my tummy skin is wrinkly and sagging. No amount of any exercise isn't going to get rid of loose, saggy skin. A tummy tuck would be the only answer.

I think she looks Great!!! I would never have the nerve to wear a 2 piece in in public, :cheer2: to her.

I bet her weight is correct, I'm another hippy girl. ;)

I agree!

Good for her. She lost a lot of weight (who really cares what she weighs now) and she's 55 in a bikini! I give her a lot of credit for doing what she did.
