King Rooms at AKL

We are staying at the AKL (concierge) for 1 night in Nov. before moving to the BWV's. Since we are celebrating our anniversary we thought we might try to go 1 night w/out dd (3) - having her join us the next day when we check into the Boardwalk. (She would just come up w/ the rest of my family when they arrive on that day)

We would like to request a King size bed for that night. IF dd decides she really does not want to go along w/ this plan (she will be in a strange place & might be a little freaked out) we were just planning to register her w/ us when we got there. If she is w/ us will they force us to take a room w/ 2 queens? dd will want to sleep on her special travel bed if she is there - so, we would just have an empty bed sitting in our room - the extra floor space that a King gives us would be really nice.

Thanks!

Please... anybody... will they allow 3 people (2 adults + young child) in a king deluxe room at AKL? :paw:

I have never been in a similar situation, and I guess you could call and ask, but I feel that your dd is so young that they would not care one way or the other. Plenty of kids that young sleep with their parents, particularly on vacation. I would book the king and if she comes just tell them you will all sleep together. Why would they care? I don't think they would see this as trying to squeeze in more than the limit allows.

Disney won't make reservations for two adults and a young child who is 3 or over for a King room. If you request a King and the room assigner sees three occupants they will not grant the request. I tried this when DH and I took our niece who was four and always slept with us at home when she visited (she visits a lot, just like our own child). However, I have read on these boards at least once that the resort CM can possibly give a King room to a family with a small child.

Thanks for your responses. I was hoping that staying in a deluxe room & concierge might help us. There is usually a day bed or couch in the room. I just hate to take up the space of the extra bed when nobody will be using it - she really loves her ready bed :) I'm definitely not the first person to be in this situation. It might have to do w/ fire codes? :confused3

It will be interesting - we won't know if dd is going to join us till... probably the morning we leave - We'll see if the person checking us in makes us switch rooms (if we have a King already assigned to us).

A deluxe room would make a difference. I believe if it has a daybed you can add one more person. I didn't realize you would be staying deluxe. Are all concierge rooms at AKL deluxe? If the room with two queens would allow for five, it would be okay to book that kind of a room with a king for three (as you said, because of the day bed)

Keep in mind, it has been my experience that with a king room it is a slash/ handicapped room and may not have a bath tub it is a sort of walk in shower. I dont know if that will make a difference with you having a baby but it did for me...you might want to call and double check that...just a thought

While I've heard that some of the king rooms are assessable for people with disabilities, not all are. DH and I have had three king rooms and each of them were "regular" rooms with tubs. One of them was at the Animal Kingdom Lodge

Thanks Everybody! I just spoke w/ my travel agent... I'm SO PSYCHED!!! :Pinkbounc

I think I just need to request a room w/ a King bed, close to the lobby, close to the lounge, where we'll see ALL of the animals, not too much noise, close to the pool, non-handicapped, bright large balcony... oh, and if they could arrange it - If Mickey could greet us personally & carry our luggage to the room :rotfl2:

I think I'm spending more time planning this one night at Disney then I spent looking for the house that I LIVE in all the time :rotfl:

Try to request a non-smoking concierge room. They are on the 5 floor.we had a king room and it had also a daybed.Room nr.5415.Also great view of the savannah and the animals.
Lots of greetings from Germany
Conny
