I have had my Kindle Keyboard since 2010. I have eyed the Kindle Paperwhite in the past, but since my old Kindle still worked decided not to upgrade. I think it is now on the verge of dying. The text is very faded on it. Any recommendations on the Paperwhite vs the higher 2 the Voyage or Oasis? My husband just got the Fire, but I am thinking I don't want the backlit screen.

I bought the Paperwhite last year after Christmas and really like it. I came from having a Nook for 5.5 years and didn't want a backlit screen for my reader. So far, no problems at all, but I don't have any experience with the more expensive models. I liked the price point of the Paperwhite since I know I will have to replace it in about 5 (hopefully longer) years.

I just got the 8th one of the kindle. I love it, I am waiting to get a bluetooth ear set so I can still listen to my books. I love how light weight it is.No glare. I just hate that they no longer include the chord for charging, but comapany's are just learning how to get more money out of everthing nowa days

I loved my keyboard Kindle and was very sad when it finally died. We’ve had all of the various Kindles throughout the years and my personal favorite is the Paperwhite (which incidentally was recently on sale for $99.00). The Voyage and Oasis don’t offer enough upgrades for me to spend the extra dollars, but I know they are also quite popular.

I like my Paperwhite. I also upgraded from my old 2010 Kindle Keyboard when it started freezing on me. I got mine somewhere around Black Friday/Cyber Monday back in 2016. DH got his last year and has also been happy with it (it’s his first Kindle ever).

I've had the original keyboard, the next one that came out after that then the paperwhite. My paperwhite is acting up but my honey has the newest one and I'm not crazy about it. He has had just about every one when it comes out, even the fire. Over the years he has given almost all of them away to family when he's gotten his new one. We both still have the original keyboard one because we like to listen to it through the radio in the car when driving on long solo trips. None of the new ones have the text to voice options and we don't buy audible books.

I went from a Kindle Keyboard to the Voyage. I chose the Voyage because I wanted “buttons” to push. Not really buttons just sensors with haptic feedback. I never really looked at the original Oasis but when the Oasis 2017 came out it got my attention. It has physical buttons and the screen is bigger. After being spoiled by it I would never go back to a smaller screen or one without buttons. Is it needed? No. Is it nice? Heck, yeah. It’s a luxury item for sure. If you wanted to splurge I couldn’t recommend it enough. That said, plenty of people love and prefer their Paperwhites.

I replaced my 2nd generation Kindle Keyboard for the Kindle 8. Love it, so much lighter and the screen is the same size as the one I had. Really like being able to "swipe" for everything and no need to bookmark anything the cover does it and wakes the device. It was a Black Friday deal for $49.99

A pp noted that the Kindles do not come with a power cord to charge just the USB one; I have a USB charger that I use for my Fitibit, blue tooth headset, speakers and other devices so no big deal to charge the Kindle.

I've had multiple Kindle keyboards (I went through 3 for various reasons), a kindle touch and a paperwhite. My touch was always my backup, even when I had the keyboard. I preferred the keyboard over my touch so it very rarely got used and it is still my backup. My final kindle keyboard bit the dust after a tragic incident involving a paper bag, a bottle of wine and the kindle. The bag handle broke and shattered the wine and killed my poor kindle. At that point I upgraded to the Paperwhite and I do not regret it a single bit. I love that I can read in bed without turning on a lamp and the size and feel of it in my hand is much closer to the keyboard than my touch is. If you go with a paperwhite you will be happy.

I replace my 2nd Kindle Keyboard in December (my first was original kindle keyboard). After a lot of thought I went with Oasis.

DH had Paperwhite and I’m a fast reader and I felt moving my finger to turn the page would get very tiring. Lol I know that sounds so ridiculous but it’s true.

I love my Oasis. I like the raised page turn buttons. I also like that you could easily rotate it depending on what hand you want to hold it in and the page buttons automatically adjust. Battery life is great!

Thanks everyone. I think I will go with the paperwhite. I have a hard time spending money on myself, I can't believe there are people that have bought every one of them and I feel bad replacing a broken one that is 8 years old. lol

My husband got a paperwhite last year and has been very happy with it. I have an old Kindle with keyboard and he was debating if he just start sharing mine with me instead of just spending the money on his own lol! He is very happy with it and comparatively I would be happy with this version when mine finally dies. He got it on sale for black friday. They always have them on sale now for black friday and that amazon prime day they do at another time during the year so if its not completely dead you can save by waiting to buy it then.
