when you buy a book at full price and the next week it's one of the free e-books? Or almost as bad the price drops to 99 cents? 5 books I've bought in the last month have done this. :headache: I wish there was a money back feature like you have with regular books or other items. :sad2:

That said if you like romance there are some pretty good books up for free or deeply discounted this week. a couple of them just came out in the few weeks. :thumbsup2

Amazon will refund your purchase if it's within 7 days and you can buy it at the new price. I don't know if Barnes and Noble has a similar policy.

I've gotten to the point now where I have such a backlog of unread books in Calibre that I could read for years without having to re-read a book. So I hardly ever buy anything new now unless it's a good deal or I REALLY want to read it. I have a group of friends that I share an Amazon account with that we split the cost of some of the higher Agency priced books that we really want bad on release day. That brings the cost down to something more reasonable.

No, they won't. They stopped this policy quite a while ago.

OP - I have never seen any books I purchased on my Kindle for full price drop down to free or .99.

It's still on their Help page too

Returning Kindle Content

Any content you purchase for Kindle from the Kindle Store is eligible for return and refund if we receive your request within 7 days of the date of purchase. Once a refund is issued, you will no longer have access to the item. To request a refund and return, click the Customer Service button in the Contact Us box in the right-hand column of this page to reach us via phone or e-mail. Please make sure to include the title of the item you wish to return in your request.

They will absolutely refund the cost of Kindle content purchased in the last 7 days. No questions asked. I bought a book for my mother's Kindle a couple of weeks ago and she found her paperback of the same title. I contacted Amazon and they refunded my money and it disappeared from her Kindle.

That would be frustrating to me, too. Over the course of the last year the cost of the Dragon Tattoo series of books has fluctuated every few weeks. One example I can think of at the moment, though I haven't noticed it myself a lot.

Sorry - I was thinking of Amazon's policy for general items, not Kindle books. Still, I've never bought a book and had the price drop, so this isn't an issue for me.

Wow that is annoying! Keep in mind that your local library will lend you e-books for free! I have borrowed a ton from mine, and only bought about 10 e-books because those were unavailable from the library. Lastest investment was the Song of Ice & Fire series, which when I picked up the first two they were $5 each (the whole series was), but then when Game of Thrones came out on HBO they all went up to $8.99. :sad2: Oh well, reading is addictive, what are you going to do?

Ya, know, I don't know if B&N does. I do have a Nook. I suppose I should investigate. Even if they do that won't help for most of the books though. Only one or two of them were bought less than 7 days ago (like 10 or 12 days :headache: )

How do I borrow books from my local library on my Nook? This is something i haven't figured out how to do yet!

I don't know if I would have bought a Nook if I was a "new" book reader. I swear new eBooks are usually more expensive than I can find the printed book version.

But thankfully I am more of a classics gal. I am currently rereading all of Louisa May Alcott's books - I loved those as a child :lovestruc (all except Little Women - go figure), and still love them now! I got a complete collection of all of her stories for just a few dollars. I also bought the complete collections of several other authors for just a dollar or two.

So - if you want a cheap eReader read - think classics!

Your local librarian can help you figure out how to download them ... on our system and many others its a download of Adobe E-Reader, then pick the books you want from your library website and click "Lend", then it will appear in the free software you just downloaded. After that plug in your Nook to your computer with your charger/mini-USB cable, and you click and drag the book onto your Nook. But it will vary depending on the software that your library uses; the good news is that most libraries use a format for books called ePub which is pretty universal and your Nook can read. Also make sure you're downloading an e-book not an audio e-book, because they look kinda similar on the websites sometimes ...
After disconnecting your Nook, here's the part that got me stuck ... its not under "My Library". You have to find the Menu item under "My Library" that said "My Documents" and that's where all non-BN items will go (I also put articles I download for school on my Nook for easier reference than getting out the netbook).
