Hi,

Ok I cracked and couldn't wait to order my kindle fire via Amazon and bought it instore tonight. After good advice on here to order on Amazon to save on taxes, I just couldn't wait. :)

I am soo trying to figure it out and am so confused. I love it so far but am so new to it all that I feel a bit lost.

It says online that it comes with a free 3 month subscription to 15? magazines but I don't know how to access them? I already registered my Kindle Fire. They are not in my newstand, its empty. Does anyone know how you get these?

Also, are there any free ebooks or emagazines I can download to my fire?

Many thanks,
shelly :)

I am waiting for mine to arrive popcorn:: but have been playing around the Amazon site. Go to the main page, there is a tab on the right that has all the departments. When you hover over the Kindle tab you will see "manage my Kindle" near the bottom. Click on that and log in. Once there you can see what is in your account. You will see the tabs on top that says Kindle ebooks, Newstand etc. Click on Newstand and it will show you all their magazines. Have not tried that since right now I can only download books to my Amazon account but I am sure it is self explanatory.

Amazon has some free books - classics pre-1923. They also have a daily deal - yesterday I got Kurt Vonnegut's Mother Night for .99 :goodvibes Today they have (kinda late so had) a bunch of books at 75% off. I found this link that shows libraries that now offer books for Kindle -

Amazon is great about giving a lot of freebies and great deals.

Because you bought a Kindle Fire you got the free one month Prime trial so I assume you know about the free movies and TV shows you can watch through it.

In addition to the free books that someone else mentioned, Kindle fire/Prime users have access to the Kindle Lending Library where you can borrow one free book a month. They have some very popular books to choose from including the "Hunger Games" books.

Another great thing is Amazon has a free app of the day every day to download. These are all really good ones that you would normally have to pay for- past ones have been Angry Birds and "Documents to Go" (which is normally $15!)

Also most public libraries now allow loaning of ebooks for the Kindle. You can do it all through the web. It's saved me SO much money this year on books!

Keep an eye on the top 100 list of free books and check it out daily. Sometimes there are deals for books that only last one day or so. I have gotten a lot of popular books for free, particular first ones in a series (such as Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander") but they were only available for a short time. It pays to pop on and look when you have a chance!:)
