So both of my daughters want Kindle Fire HDs. I saw that Best Buy will have them for $99 and Staples for $79.

Do you know if I can get them online?

Will they be available all day, or only as "doorbusters?"

Any idea if other stores will price match?

I Black Friday shop, but won't cut my family time short on Thanksgiving in order to get in line at a store. Hopefully I won't be out of luck!

Black friday will not be any thing special.

I got my kindle fire HD from amazon at a back to school special. It was on sale for 100 bucks and I got a 15 dollar Amazon gift card with it.

I generally shop the last two weeks before christmas, the last two years I've kept my circulars to see if there really was any thing on sale BF that I couldn't get afterwards and nope not one thing. In fact, if it was clothing it turned out cheaper.

this year I don't have any electronics on my list (thank goodness) so I really haven't watched the sales but last year I purchased

A mac computer, which I got cheaper with my sons college student discount.
1 iphone
and 1 tv. I beat every supposedly BF sale so I still don't understand the big "allure" behind black friday. some one else may give better info.

I think you'll be fine with the kindle. staples may be an issue, around here they tend to run out of inventory. the staples website says the will price match. right now they are still showing their kindles at full price. I'm sure closer to the big day they'll go down.

I am gojng to assume that Amazon will come close to these prices and you won't have to worry about limited stock. You may be able to get them online, probably at 1201 am on Thursday if available.

I just got the Kindle Fire for my Mom for Christmas for $79 when Amazon had a $40 off special last weekend. Same price as BB's doorbuster and I already have it sitting on my kitchen table. :)

Not sure if this is correct, but something to keep in mind... the Kindle in Staples ad just says Kindle Fire 7"... this may not be the HD version, but the prev year's model. Best Buy is the HD version.

ETA.. from BFads:

And it turns out that the Kindle Fire we saw in the Staples 4-item preview is actually the original Kindle Fire 8GB, not the HD version, which isn't that great of a deal considering Best Buy is selling the 16GB Kindle Fire HD for only $20 more.

Good to hear that I can hope for a sale on Amazon. Hopefully prices will go down again closer to Christmas if I'm not successful on Black Friday!

I was able to get a price match at Target for a Kindle (2 years ago) and I could apply the 5% RedCard discount. I'm wondering if that will work this year?

Don't trust any of the Black Friday deals until you have shopped around for the item on the internet and seen what is out there. Also be sure you are looking at the correct model. I've been seeing how great the black friday deals are supposed to be this year, so I started looking at the ads. I looked up a few of the "doorbusters" I thought I might be interested in maybe actually going out on Black Friday for, and I found that I could get every one of them somewhere for approximately the same price right now. Definitely nothing worth fighting the crowds for me!

How much storage it has. The "new" Kindle Fire HD now being promoted on Amazon for $139 only has 8GB of memory (I'm not talking about the new HDX). It's a scaled down model of the original. Since the memories of these machines cannot be upgraded it may be worth it to go for the original 16GB model.

I asked at Target and they said they are no longer price matching BF deals - be they doorbusters or all day deals. They will only price match deals that are 4 day sale deals (so read not really that great a deal). They won't even price match their own BF deals if you buy in advance.

I just got the new Kindle for my granddaughter. A message appeared after the ereader was in my shopping cart that I could save $50 on it by applying for an Amazon credit card. I did and was approved withing seconds, so the actual cost was $89. Very pleased!

If you look on amazon's website, you will see that there is a price difference based on whether or not you are willing to get "special offers" (ads) on your Kindle. If you buy from amazon, it's easy to see if you are choosing the one with special offers or without. If you buy elsewhere, I'm not sure how you know which you are getting. Maybe someone else can fill you in.

DD wants a Chrome and Staples has it in their BF ad for $179 which is $120 savings, I wonder if it's an older model, she also wants a certain color which they probably won't have. We bought a laptop at Staples and the return policy was like 2 weeks.
