Our Disney trip is 100% paid off to include mnsshp tickets. Our trip is in 98 days and not sure what to do I am worried.

I would just make a budget for food and extras and STICK TO IT! Then have a wonderful time! It sounds like you need to get away and forget about the real world!

I'm so sorry! Now is the time to take a deep breath and make decisions with a clear head.

Keep in mind that up until 45 days out you can cancel the trip (the Disney end anyway) and get a full refund except for the party tickets. I'm not saying that's what you need to do I'm saying it's an option for another month and change.

I would call Disney about the MNSSHP tickets. You might be able to get a refund. If you bought a package I think you can cancel up till 45 days out for a refund.

I'd call Disney and explain the situation. They are usually pretty good at working with you. (Make sure you cancel your ADRs if you have any)

If you've paid for it and you have free dining, then I would go and enjoy. But try to stay away from extras like souvenirs. if you have to cancel closer to the date because your husband gets another job, then do that, but wait until you get closer to your 45 day mark.

Good luck and try not to worry! pixiedust:

First of all, hugs to you! Good vibes and thoughts being sent to you as well.
As this poster said, you can get your money back if need be. We all hope he finds a new and even better job quickly.

Im so sorry, I agree tho Id make a budget and stick to it, it sounds like you need this vacation more then ever! Back in 2011 DH lost his job a month out, but we still went sticking to our budget. I lost my job in Aug and we are going this Sept (mom gave our trip as an anniversary gift tho)

Also you never know, your DH may have a job before you go!

Sending hugs and pixie dust!!

Take a deep breath and think it through. Having a vacation right now to someplace you love can be a wonderful thing. You relax and rejuvenate and have a neutral place to sit and talk and make plans and decisions.

But whether the vacation is the best use of funds right now depends on lots of other things. How many months of emergency funds do you have? Did your DH get a severance pkg? What are the job prospects in your area? Etc. take all that into account and make the best decision for your family.

Good luck!

If your husband finds another job pretty quickly, they may not allow him to take vacation time that soon. Reassess at the 45 day mark to be sure you can get your money back.
Hope things turn around quickly for your family and you get to enjoy your trip!

I've never in my life had a job that would not allow me to take a pre-planned trip simply because it was close to my starting date

Actually, now that I think about it, I've had a pre-planned trip within the first month of each job I started, and none of them penalized me for having a life before working for their company. And two of them gave me the paid time off, and not just unpaid out of office days.

Check with the job. Sorry but when i have an opening I need some one to come in and hit the job running. Bottom line rarely is a candidate so exceptional that we can't find another. So if you tell me you've got a vacation planned in a month, I'll thank you and tell you have a nice day. If someone wants to give up a good salary, pension, matching 401k and health benefits for a vacation, in this economy, have at it. Way too many people looking for good jobs for me tohold up my work.
I work for a big fortune 50 company

This!! Nearly every time this has happened to a family member/friend the company was more than understanding and let them take unpenalized/unpaid vacation!

OP If everything is paid off including getting FD then I would go!! When something like this happens you already feel down and I think canceling the vacation would just multiply those bad feelings. I would have a garage sale/ save up change until your trip for tip money and souvenirs, rem. let your kids know in advance what they are going to be allowed to purchase and set a limit. Really if you only have tips and a few small souvenirs I think you could get by with taking 300.00 or under with you as extra spending money!!

Me either. Sorry to the previous poster but I go in and if offered the job, I tell the person straight out I have a totally paid for vacation that I cannot cancel and I'm willing to take unpaid leave for that time. Both times, I've not only been given the time off but been completely paid for it. If you are good enough to be offered a job, you are good enough to be treated just like a real employee because that's what you are.

I would not want to work for you with that attitude. Vacations can't sways be cxled without losing out ect. I know 2 years agao and we had our wedding renewal planned and it was non refundable so my new job allowed me to go even when my company does not allow vacations during nov at all. As that is our busiest month of the year

Been there, done that. And we went. With BOTH of us out of jobs.

Sometimes you just need the distraction. Since everything is paid for and you have the free dining, I say do it. If you can, put aside a few dollars each week for some extra things and then go and have fun. If your situation is extra tight and you can't bank the extra dollars, still go and have fun.

Who knows - after our trip, I came home and found not one but two job offers.

I've worked at my company for 22+ yrs in the busn office. We have always been willing to let a new employee off if they had pre planned trips. Life happens. The pre planning to me shows that employee is organized. Good luck on the job search. Go and have a great time.

It's really not about attitude. My company starts out paying 50k to college graduates, we are one of the few that still offers pensions, we match dollar for dollar up to 6%, my employees have Unlimited sick days and we are consistently voted one of the top companies to work for by working moms magazine. So yeah, I'd be worried about someone who would give up an EXCELLENT job because they wanted to play. Only on the dis would this happen.

I don't mean to be snarly but as a hiring person I've heard so many excuses from applicants.
Why not simply wait until after the vacation to job hunt?

I agree with you. There are too many candidates seeking jobs. No one knows the schedule at the new company, even if they company wanted to allow a vacation the mission my not allow it. The OP is in the window to cancel and that sounds like the most logical thing to do regardless if her husband finds a new job or not.
