OK so there's a fly buzzing around my house and he's driving me MENTAL!

As I'm chasing him around with a newspaper trying keep him off my counters I was wondering if a fly is born an "inside" fly -- ie, he came into the house as a maggot and hatched in the house, was never out and about flying around getting germs on his feet, would he not be germey and gross?

I do not have maggots in the house, and this guy totally came in when my dd left the slider open! My mind just asks crazy questions sometimes and I wanted to see if anyone knows the answer. :surfweb:

Oh, does anyone have a tried and true method to catch this bugger? I know he's only got 1 day to live, but ewwwww... he's flying pretty fast and I keep missing him. He seems to know if he sits on my tv screen I can't hit him because it will ruin it.

Seems like whenever there's a fly in my house, it ends up in my freshly poured beer when I'm not looking. Maybe you should pour yourself a cold one and wait? :rolleyes1

I have a serious fear of flies (wierd I know). Unfortunately they are mega germ carriers. Their feet touch everything they land on. They can go from dog poop to your plate and not think twice about it. Even if they had never been outside, they will land in your garbage or your toliet and then land anywhere else. So, they definately spread germs.
I sympathize with you, if one gets in the house- I can't relax till it's killed. Hope you get it soon!

Hmmm.. Maybe you could place a piece of food on the floor - wait for him to land on it - and whack him then..

I know what you mean about them buzzing around.. Drives me nuts too! :headache:

Hope you nail him soon! :goodvibes

No fly problem here. OUr dog loves to eat flies. She will not stop until she catches it.

You need to get an electric fly swatter.. they zap the flies!!! Its so much fun!!!:cool1:

this is the one we have it is better than the cheapy ones at walmart because it takes d cells instead of AA

he's driving me CRAZY!!!! I'm debating putting some scraps on the coffee table and staking it out!!

GET WINDEX or another spray cleaner. When fly lands spray a few times with windex(or whatever u have) it stops them from flying and you can get a paper towel and release or kill it!!

GENIOUS!!!!! I'm doing it. *off to get my fabuloso spray*

we used to get these nasty 'feather bugs' (centipedes with fluffy feathery legs) in our old house and we'd spray them with hairspray and watch them try to run away. :rotfl2: SO freaking hilarious!!

(ps - I love robert deniro in your siggie! too hilarious!)

THX:goodvibes
Hope it worked and the fly is GONE!! It has NEVER failed me

I usually just suck the buggers up with my vacuum...wait until they land and then sneak up on them. Even the most persistant ones can't get away!!!!

I hate flies with a passion! I cannot stand it when they are in my house...so disgusting!!

Unfortunately when they do get in the house, they seem to be attracted to my shiny comforter and it freaks me out...and i cannot sleep until they have been caught. Maybe you could find something shiny (tin foil) and see if your fly is drawn to it like my comforter? Then give him a good whack. Oh, just read the hairspray post...that's a new one I might have to try!

Last summer we had a fly in the kitchen area and no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get it with the flyswatter. In the end I gave up, and we decided to make it a family pet instead. We named him Monsieur Mouche (mouche is French for fly) and talked to him a lot. It was almost sad when he bit the dust a few days later. In general flies only live a few days, so there is hope.
