We have a std 1bdrm booked at Kinadi for 8 nights. We are a family 6-- ds 2 will sleep in the pack n play. We have stayed at OKW for the last 4 yrs in a 2bdrm. I have a few ?"s for those who have stayed in a 1 bdrm at Kinadi

-How much room is there in the Master for the pack and play?? Is it going to be cramped? Will we have room to walk around it.

-in the living area-- Is there room for a twin air mattress?? DS10 and DS8 are suppose to share the couch. the only problem is DS8 is a kicker in his sleep. I thought bringing a twin mattress might make for more sleepful nights. IS there room?? I am having a hard time invisioning it bc we have only experienced OKW which has soo much room. DD6 is getting the sleeping chair. They all want to sleep on the air mattress-- go figure.

Thanks in advance for the assistance

We were just in a 1Br at Kidani a few weeks ago (and in a 2BR at OKW in March) so we are comparing the same rooms.

First, plenty of room in the Master for the PNP. We actually rented a full size crib which fit easily between the bed and the balcony sliding door. It didn't interfere at all with desk/TV/dresser area and there was still room to get by to slide curtains shut or to go out the door to the patio.

Second, you could fit a twin air mattress in the living area, next to the pullout double, but it would be in the middle of the "walkway" out of the master and would sort of block direct access to the kitchen area. Really IMO not a big deal at night, but I would probably toss the air mattress on top of the double couch during the day to keep it out of the middle of the room or else you'll be stumbling over it all day.

Although you didn't ask about room preferences I would request close to the pool if you plan on going there a lot. We had a standard view, overlooked the main entrance and the top/front entrance to the pool. Access to the pool was quick and easy - just down the Rafiki 8 elevator and in through the BACK entrance (which I never saw anyone else using) in about a minute. The downside might be if you are using WDW transportation. We had a car and didn't need to use the buses. The standard rooms on the other side of the resort overlook the bus stop.

Finally, just to let you know, I vowed to go back to the 2BR's after this trip. We are a family of 5 (one under 3) and often take a grandma along. Granted we were able to save points with the 1BR and IMO the standard view is a great value for the points, but I did not like combining the sleeping/living areas. I do like that Disney is finally giving groups of 5 a 1BR option at AKV and BLT but we probably won't consider the 1BR again until the kids are 4-5 years older. OKW definitely spoils you with all the space, but Kidani will spoil you with the pool! Have fun!

deva-- Thanks for the info. Okay I feel a little better on the PNP in the Master. i was worried I would be constantly kicking into the bottom of it. In OKW we would put the PNP near bathroom enterance for the jaccuzi. Good to know we will have room to move around. Okay I guess the air mattress being in the walk way is not a big deal-- just have to sneak around if needing a night time snack:) Putting it up on the couch is a good idea or dropping it on the master bed would work too. I feel like we should bring it bc DS10 has a hard time falling asleep w/ ds8 kicking him. You'd think they would drop like logs after a long day but ds10 can't. I just think bringing it would be a good idea incase we need it. We are driving and it is about the size of a backpack so it will not take up much space.

Yeah know I didn't even think about location preference. I am not sure how much time we will spend at the pool. We also will have our car- we are use to using WDW transport for most parks. When we are at OKW we only drove to AK bc we would have 8am ADRS. Did you find getting a parking space hard after being in the parks for the day?? Is the underground parking just 2 cars deep w/ the road in the middle. Parking on each side w/ a road?? I hope that makes sense. If you are closer to the bus area, how far is the walk to the pools?

We were orginally going to go w/ a 1 bdrm at OKW-- this is the only year we can do it since ds is 2. We have always stayed in a 2bdrm due to 6-8 of us on the trip. The thing that worried me was the condition of the pull out at OKW and having only 1 bathroom. Last year our trip was extended by 5 days thanks to TS fay. (our train was cancelled and it was 5 days till the next train could take us-autotrain) We moved from OKW to CR. It was doable but hard moving down to such a small room. The biggest thing was having only 1 bathroom. We decided to try AKV since it did offer the 2nd bathroom and we could fit in a 1bdrm. I know after this trip it is only a 2bdrm-- I am going to ask them to see if we can check out a 2bdrm while we are there. I am worried that we will feel like we are on top of each other but I think it will be managable for just this trip.

thank you again for all your input-- it is greatly appreciated.

You won't have any troubles with the PNP and I'd say the air mattress is a good idea. I think you could also rearrange the coffee table to get it more out of the main walkway. Parking was no problem at all, especially where we were - down at the far end where they are still finishing construction. From what I saw of the garage it was just 2 rows of parking (but we always pulled in and just turned left). You pull in under the building and go either left or right depending on the direction of your room. Once you've turned onto the garage "drive" (if that makes sense) there is one row of parking on the left and one on the right. Since the building is shaped sort of like eyeglasses, the garage follows the shape and circles around - not a straight shot. We always had at least 5-10 spots to pick right by the elevator. It was very nice to park in the shade! If you were on the side away from the pool I think it would be 5 maybe 10 minutes top to the pool. The closer you are to the lobby, the shorter the walk. You'd have to walk down to the lobby and out the front entrance, down the sidewalk to the pool. Nothing compared to some resorts, but I have three little ones and constantly running back to room. Also I did not want to worry about noise from the bus stop.

The 2nd bath is a definite bonus and the master bath is spectacular compared to OKW. My kids loved the shower as much as the jacuzzi tub.

Also, plenty of decks. patios etc. to view the animals and a nice community room with games/crafts etc.

It is so nice since it is brand new and the theming/decor is great. My kids loved the slide and the water play area as much as the parks. Have a wonderful trip. If you think of any other quesitons I'd be happy to help. I was scouring the board for Kidani info prior to our trip!

I stayed in the Timon area 2 weeks ago. We loved the parking. The spaces closer to the elevators are usually more crowded but there were plenty of empty spaces down from them. We were actually closer to the Zazu elevator but they only have 1 row of covered parking there because there are no standard views in this area. There are also spaces in the open. Much more convenient for parking than any of the other hotel DVC's.

...We were orginally going to go w/ a 1 bdrm at OKW-- this is the only year we can do it since ds is 2. ...

Even if your fourth child is under the age of three, that would make five plus one and you can't do that in a one bedroom designed for four. Only four plus one OR five. Even if it is OKW, the largest one bedroom villa at WDW.

I think you are going to be horrified at the lack of space at any of the other villas if all you have to compare them to is OKW.

We stayed in a 1br standard just one studio away from the Rafiki elevator. It was a fabulous location! I didn't make any requests and was so happy :) We only saw one other family using that elevator the entire time we were there----and there were lots of other units occupied in our "bead" because we saw the room service trays out after b'fast :)

We used the car several times during our trip and never had problems finding a parking spot near the elevator. There is an entire "double" section of covered parking, directly underneath the lobby area, which was pretty much empty the entire time we were there. If you are ever stuck without a parking space near your elevator, you can always park there---at least the car will still be covered!

Thanks for all the suggestions and input. I am not sure if we will request a certain room location. I am all for the surprise in it. Good to know about the availability of parking in the garage. I am not sure how much we will use the van during the day.

Deb & Bill-- See when we were 1st planning the trip MS said that we could stay in a 1bdrm at OKW w/ 5 plus the baby-- go figure. Thanks for letting me know. After this trip we will go back to a 2bdrm villa. I can only picture villas in relation to OKW. It is all that I have known. I know it is huge so going somewhere else will be an adjustment to size. We did okay at CR when we moved there after 9 days at OKW since our train was delayed due to TS Fay. There was 5 plus the baby. we were just use to the space but we managed. I think we will love having the 2nd bathroom. DD6 is asking for a 2bdrm this year so we can have 3 of them!:cutie: Maybe next year.

ohhh-- what is kept below the sink?? do I need any cabinet locks for ds2??? I was thinking of bringing some outlet covers. How easy is the doors to the balconies to open?? Do they slide or swing out/in like a door??

only 35 days to go:banana::banana::banana:

They usually have the garbage cans - regular garbage and recyclable trash, dish drainer, extra paper towels, dishwasher detergent under the kitchen sink. The patio door is a slider.

There's a double lock/latch on the slider. You have to "undo" both of them (one is quite high, way too high for a small kid to reach) for the slider to open. Dh forgot a few times about that higher one... LOL

Regarding the cabinets - there is actually limited cabinet space so we had the bowls/dishes/platters in the lower cabinet next to the stove. I don't know that I ever looked under the sink (can you tell how much I cooked?). We had a trashcan on the floor in the kitchen. Who knows - maybe DH moved it out from under the sink to make it easier to access?

I wouldn't say there is anything particularly dangerous, but if your little one likes to open cabinets and play you'll need to be wary of the dish cabinet (they are glass and would break if dropped on the tile, I'm sure.

Under the sink was a trash can (the one sitting on the floor was for recycling---there's a logo on one side), a plastic dishdrainer, and a sealed packet of dishwasher detergent. I think that was it.

AKV and BLT all have 5 for a 1 BR occupancy. Then can't you have a child under 3? It didn't sound to me like occupancy would be an issue this trip- just space!

That's true, but I was responding to their question about OKW one bedroom.

My bad - didn't look at the quote you responded to! Then I got to wondering if they had some special small child rule at AKV.
