Our next trip to the World is not till October, which seems like forever. Anyone have any tips on how to make this 5 month stretch tolerable for our fanatacal Disney family...mind you we also went in January but stayed off property(free accomadations, stop you would do it too) so it kinda doesn't count. Looking for help. Thanx.

I wish I had some suggestions - we're also going in Oct & the wait is intolerable! I hate to wish my year away but I'm about to pop!

No kidding I was just thinking to myself, wow it will be the playoffs for baseball, football season will be in it's second month, and basketball would be starting up again. man this is gonaa take forever.

We are going in Oct. too. I have re-worked our trip plan about 3 times now. My sister and her family were planning on coming but just found out my brother-in-law won't be able to take time off from work. My mom is staying a few days and I asked her to change her days to accomodate our plans. We haven't told the kids so I'm not hearing any "how soon untill we go to Disney" I'm the impatient one. I want to be there now. Summer always gets busy so October will be here quick.

I am also waiting for our time. I don't want to wish our summer away, but dang it, go fast!
It helps that I am very busy with our store and counting down weekends is easier than counting down days.
I am trying to have something fun in each month. Around the middle to say
"Hey, we're almost there!"
Next month is the Hot Air Balloon Festival on the 14th, in July I thought about going canoeing or something. August we'll have a Webkinz party here at the store, my daughters birthday. Then Sept it's off to Disney!
I often do this to, I think ugh..it's only May and we aren't going till Sept. But look how fast Jan till now went!

I am taking a few days off before the trip to get a pedicure (never had one!) and pack!

We are waiting too, but for next May!!! October will be here before you know it!

Ours is in Oct. too & I have'nt been there since 2000! I don't want to wish summer away either but I can barely contain my excitement & I think some of my family are getting sick of hearing about it.:confused3

My family too,...and my employees and my in laws. :rotfl:

We're going in October too. :cool1:

I'm getting my fix by writing a pre trip report (see siggy.) I have also visited the Creative DISisgns board and downloaded printables - invitations, autograph book sheets, activity books and journals for the kids. This is taking some time, and I think it will make the trip more memorable! Oh, and I am working on customs and costumes for the girls to wear too. So, that should help to keep me busy for the next 5 months! :goodvibes

...ah.. its my people! Or at least a support group!

The Oct wait seems like its just dragging..... Since this is our second trip, the planning went so fast so now there's nothing to do but wait......

MamaOfTwoPrincesses ~thanks for the suggestions! Were going the same exact time as you guys so its fun to read the pre -trip report~

I am so with you guys! I don't go until Nov! Tomorrow I book my ADRs so I am hoping i can stop stressing and start just getting excited! Ok so I am already excited! I think Dh and my friend are about to shove a sock in my mouth to shut me up! Or invest in some duck tape! :lmao:

I love the sumer so I don't want to wish it away so I have to keep telling myself to enjoy this wonderful weather and try to plan quietly so my dh doesn't ask for a divorce with all of my WDW talk! :rotfl:

He is such a good sport he just keeps saying 'what ever you want dear this trip is for you'.

So in the mean time I found this board and I can dream my WDW waiting time away! I also have been reading some of the Imagineer guides to WDW and some of the travel guides.

Why is it that my kids are more patient them I am:rotfl2: :scared1:

Well, think of how many good ole classic Disney movies you can watch between now and then!! Make a project out of it or something. A few years back I started singing/humming tunes from any Disney movie I could think of and my kids had to guess-even the baby!! She was barely 3 and she knew more than I thought she would!! Plan a garage sale for summer and get more trip $$. Anything with a goal like that helps us over the hump! And by 'us' I mean me!! :lmao: We try to surprise our kids as much as possible, so I am the one with time draaaagging on!! Dh is so busy at work he ain't thinking about it! so.... I feel for you!!! Make a countdown poster with weeks on it-till you hit 30 days or what ever let them draw Disney characters on it -that would be fun. But you are right- summer is usually busy and then you'll be doing back to school prep, so it's not gonna drag too bad!!

Yep, enjoy the summer and don't make time fly by. Life is too short as it is so savor every day! :thumbsup2

Is anyone else keeping the trip a secret from the kids? THIS is killing me, but I know it will be SOOOO worth it in the end! Now that my older dd can read, I have to be very stealth with the computer and notes I leave for myself round the house! ;)

We aren't going until the end of Feb next year :sad2: Right now our main count down is DH coming home from Kuwait. What he and I do is that we get on the computer at the same time and get on the dis and he picks the page to read and we read it together. We plan where we are gonna eat and the stuff we will do for the boys while there. Here on the home front the kids and I listen to wishes watch home videos of past trips and that is good for them cause they get to see daddy. Read DW tour books. We tend to talk about it all the time. I run a daycare from home (they are napping now) and the kids bug their parents that they want to go and that is fine by me cause I am also a TA lol Bring it on lol. Hope this helps Oh look on myspace and youtube for some great Disney videos
I have one on myspace here is the link a friend of mine made it for us.

We're going in October and aren't telling the kids either. I have learned to write all my notes in code so DD can't read them. it' stinks when kids learn to read  I occasionally have to shush DH. My mother-in-law is th worse. I'm sorry we ever told her. Twice right in front of the kids she has said something about when we go.

We are going in August, DD knows and DS is only 2 so his knowledge is limited to what we tell him. I keep telling him we are going to go see Mickey and he looks at pictures with me on the Dis and recognizes some characters. I have been filling my time making a packing list and starting to buy the little essential items and throwing them in a box (tolietries mostly, ponchos, batteries, t-shirts, tank tops) I try to get one or two things a week that are strictly for this trip and stash them so I don't have to go out the weekend before we leave and shop! I have all the tolietries except for 2 toothbrushes, body glide, moleskin, hair rubberbands for DD and a new bright nailpolish color for myself and DD, everything will just have to be moved from the box it is in to a bag of some sort for travel.
