DS never ceases to amaze me with his out of the ordinary questions. This morning it's why does a friend of mine have 5 children. Well, Richard, I would think it's because she likes kids. Then he asks me how does she get pregnant? :earseek: :earseek: Then his mind is just as quickly off the subject and doesn't know why he asked. He's 10 and in 5th grade. I'm not ready for this!

LOL I am never ready for that! And I have 5 DCherubs!

I almost drove off the road when my DD11 asked, when she was about 5, why we have lips (my answer- to hold our teeth in)....my DS7 recently asked if angels pee (my answer: only if they have to!), and my youngest DD5 wants to know if bugs miss their mommies (answer: yes, that is why all bugs/reptiles including snakes/other creepy crawlies must be returned outside at dusk! Their mothers are calling)......now if I could only stop time and get my DD15 to ASK questions again! She no longer asks- AND she GETS those "dirty" jokes!

LOL! I love that one! And good luck with DD 15!! We got the jokes too at that age. ;)

You think you know the answers until a kid asks the questions!

I told my DD when she was 4 that the reason we couldnt get her a sister ( she wanted to trade her brother in ) is because when we picked her up her Dad lost the receipt . She was about 7 when she told me that someone at school told her that Babies do not come from a store , and why had I made that up when I knew they come from Flowers :D

LOL! Sandy, has Richard watched "the movie" at school yet? Sara watched it last year in the 4th grade, they show the boys the movie in the 5th grade at her school.

I've noticed my ds asks a lot harder questions than my dd does. He's not easily swayed with a short answer. I'm glad he's only 7 and doesn't know the panicky type questions yet.

My DS8 doesn't like when I scold him and I've heard more than once those lovely words - I hate you! Well, my DS3 started to repeat his words when HE got punished. Mind you - I don't think it's right for a child of any age to say those horrible words so I sat down with my 2 DS and DD5 to talk about feelings and how easily you can hurt with words.

Last week when DS8 was picking on DS3 and he came crying to me for a hug he looked up at me and told me - I like you.

Get out the mop - I'm a big puddle on the floor!

He's 10 and just now asking? ;)

You're lucky, DD asked a LONG time ago and she's known all the facts...including HOW the baby gets made...for about a year now. If they're asking then it's definitely time to tell.

Good luck! :)

That's for sure, Melora! ;)

That is TOO cute! Whenever Richard mentions that he wants a brother...NOT a sister...I always told him that he could end up with a sister. Ha! He wasn't so sure he wanted a sibling. ;)

has Richard watched "the movie" at school yet?

Not yet, Shannon. I would think they send home a permission slip in advance! They do that, don't they???? I'll be looking for it!

He's 10 and just now asking?

No, Michelle. The questions were easier to answer when they were younger. Now it's difficult to look at a kid's face and realize you really need to tell them the truth these days! He's not satisfied with...God planted a seed in her tummy. He said...yeah, right!

At my dd's school they sent home a note first. I assume all schools do.:) They also gave me the option to watch the movie first so I could approve of what she saw. I didn't watch it though. They detailed in the note what was in the movie.

Has Richard thought about his question any more, Sandy?:teeth:
