My dd is 7 and she has a narrow foot and we are having a very hard time buying shoes! It seems like since we crossed over from toddler to girls (size 1 and up) it's harder to find a narrow size. Reg width shoes are very wide!!! We tried on one pair at Kohls and I swear she could have gotten both feet in one shoe! ;)

Any suggestions from anyone with kids with narrow feet?

The girl at Stride Rite told us that narrow feet are pretty rare these days. My poor dd wants "cute" shoes but we are stuck with very little choices. We're looking for something for her to wear with dresses and can't find anything. (And what's with the heels for little girls?!)

Conversely my ds has wide feet and the only brand that fits him are at Payless. The 3rd kid has normal size feet, he's just picky. :confused3

Suggestions welcome....

My dd has very narrow feet and I used to buy a lot of her shoes at Nordstroms. They were really good about knowing which shoes came in narrow or ran narrow.

I had very narrow feet growing up. I did have to go to shoe stores to get fitted for the AA sizes shoes instead of being able to buy them off the rack. Sometimes those extra thick, cushioned insoles helped. Other times, they had to put extra padding under the tongue area or the heel section.

For the most part, I finally grew out of the narrow size when I waitressed and spent the majority of my time in sneakers. When I stopped babying my feet, they spread out. Now I can wear medium shoes with thick socks & and an extra insole. Always an extra insole.

But, the only pumps I can fit into are Nine West shoes. Otherwise, I still have to buy dress shoes that have a strap across or laces up. Because of that, I am so NOT a shoe person. I don't collect dozens of pairs of shoes. I can't see paying $500 for Minolo Blahnik's knowing they will hurt my feet if I squeeze into a size too small, or fall out of a loose pair and nearly kill myself.

Stride rite sells a lot of narrow sizes, I think they go up to size 4 or 5 . You can get them online. We usually find them at the outlet. I've also bought my girls nike or some skechers that seem to run narrow.

I will second Nordstrom. I love buying shoes there. Or even at Nordstrom Rack, they have a section in each size specifically for narrow and wide feet.

Also, I feel like Nike can run a little narrow. Maybe not as much as your DD may need them to, it won't hurt giving a try. And they don't just have strictly athletic shoes, more and more lately, they have been popping up with more street-fashionable shoes.
