Kid's Races - Marathon Weekend at WDW

Has anyone's children done these races? I signed up my boys for Saturday as I will be running the marathon on Sunday. Thoughts? Thanks for any info you can provide!

what a hoot! 5 yr. old niece did the 200M race on May 3, check out these pix:

those kids were as fast as grease lightning! I thought I'd jog over from the start line to the finish line before they reached it... NOT! (Of course, I was weaving through obstacles - other people, bleachers, registration booths but still!)

The parent gets a tag to wear to run with the kid (at least for 4-6 year olds). So PopPop got that honor!

It was only $5.83/race and they got a tee shirt to wear, plus a bib #. They rec'd a plastic medal to wear around their necks and it was great b'c we had our 5K Go Red for Women medals and she had her medal too! They fed the kids bananas and gatorade, water, and some kind of cake thing too after the run. Plus there were CHARACTERS to pose with after the race!

What more could you want for $5.83? I thought we should quit while we were ahead and just go back to the resort for the rest of the day it was so well received!

And, fortunately, the photographers were there taking pix of them crossing the finish line so at least I'll have some pix of the finish!

My kids have done the kids races the last two marathon weekends. Last year there was PURE CHAOS and my DD4 was lost in a crowd for about 5 minutes after her race heat. The kids really seem to enjoy the races tho, even if they are stressful for the parent. For marathon weekend the kids get a bib and rubber medal, no t-shirt the 2 years I did it. We may be doing the kids races again this year if I can convince DD5 that she won't get lost in the crazy mobbing parents this year.

I have already signed up Zack (5) and my niece Hailey (4) for the kids races on Friday.

We have done them in the past and will probably do them at the marathon again. We usually try for Friday since it seems to be easier to get to the races.

Those pics are soooo cute. thanks for posting. We signed DD up for the Friday races marathon weekend too. She didn't come with us last year, but is excited to be racing, and to have her WISH scream team shirt!

Thanks for the info. It definitely looks fun.
We are flying in Friday so I didn't want to rush the weekend. Hopefully Saturday won't be too crazy! The boys will be 4 and 1. Looking forward to it!
