I've been reading the threads and didn't seem to find one that answered my questions so please forgive if there was one that I missed....

My fiance and I have moved our wedding up and are getting married while on the Magic with the kids in November. Actually, the ceremony will be on CC. My girls are 11 and 7 and are part of the wedding.

Question #1 - Since kids can't go to the Salon, has anyone ever been able to make special arrangements to have someone come to the stateroom to do hair? It's going to be hard for me to do their hair on top of trying to get ready myself....

Question #2 - Since DCL has the cake/champagne reception at Palo...and again, my kids are under 18...do they make an exception for us or do we have to have the reception someplace other than Palo to make sure the kids can attend? We also have the ring bearer and Junior Groomsman to consider.

Hi. I would call your wedding planner and ask them about the questions you have. I too am getting married on the Magic this year, but the December double dip cruise :goodvibes . I think that we got a new wedding planner? I got an email from a new planner with the price increased for the photo's. Good luck. Let me know what you find out about the salon! I am having little ones in the wedding as well, but we are getting married on the ship instead of cc. No Palo for us the night of the wedding, we have too many in our group for the private room right now and four under the age of 18 and how can you leave them behind for dinner.

Jodie,

Thanks for the input. I'm not too sure if the coordinator is new or not. Yes, the prices for photos have gone up....they now have three packages and you only get your negatives if you either purchase the largest package or pay an additional $495.00 to the package you buy.

No Palo dinner for us since it'll be the last night of the cruise and I want to take the kids to the show and we'll have to be packed for disembarkment. I was kind of surprised that the weddings weren't a little more "kid friendly" since they are quick to point out that the kids can't use the salon and they automatically have the cake cutting at Palo after the ceremony but the coordinator (Jennifer) didn't offer me any other options. I'll call her tomorrow.

Have you received your planning kit? I got mine Tuesday (had to call them Tuesday morning to remind them it had been two weeks) and they emailed it right away. She said it had been updated for prices, bouquet choices, etc. I could send you a copy if you want to pm me with your email address.

I can't justify having DCL do bridesmaid bouquets since they won't get to use them until Friday and they have to be thrown out before leaving the ship on Saturday. I really wish we could have gotten married the first day at CC (Sunday) so that they could have enjoyed them all week (and me enjoy mine too) but "Captain's orders". Since he set the onboard wedding for Thursday evening (and I'm not messing up everyone's semi-formal dinner-some of us have early dinner rotation and others have late) and the CC wedding for Friday....don't have much choice. Did he keep the same schedule for your sailing?

Where in MI are you?

Kris,

I think I am driving myself crazy over this whole wedding. I though it would be easier to just run away and get married. I feel the same way about dcl not offering much more options. I have no idea how we are even going to make dinner on that Thursday night after the wedding. So far there are 17 adults and 4 children. We all have the early seating and with the ceremony starting around 5ish and pictures after, not sure how this is all going to fall in place. My old wedding coordinator Cathy - I don't think she is there anymore, she has not returned my calls or emails in a while and I just received a new updated wedding planning kit from Jennifer last week. I think I may have to call on this first thing Monday morning. Anywho, are they allowing you to have your reception at Palo's after the wedding? There was a cc wedding report a while back, try and do a search on dcl weddings and see what comes up. If I remember correctly, the post said that they had the wedding on cc and reception at Palo's following. Not sure about little ones though, however, it went into great detail and nice to read. I don't see why they would not allow little ones, the restaurant is closed during that time and only your group will be in there.
What flowers are you going with? I am leaning towards the pink roses, but not sure. I am positive that I am going with the third wedding photo package, it seems like the best deal and you get so much more that if you were to purchase it all as add ons.
I am from Eastpointe, city right out of Detroit. How about you?

Thursday's dinner is exactly why I went with CC. Since we're going to be at CC twice the people we're cruising with have agreed to keep that Friday morning open all for me...although I haven't told them why yet. Only one girl knows and that's because her two sons are escorting my daughters.

According to Jennifer the cake and champagne toast are supposed to be at Palo. After the ceremony we'll be taken back onboard for that and then more pictures. Of course, Jennifer said that it'll be wrapped up by noon so that we can enjoy the beach the rest of the afternoon. I would imagine that there shouldn't be a problem with kids at Palo since that's where DCL has the reception but after the whole "no kids" at the salon I'm questioning it.

I decided on the tropical bouquet but I honestly cannot justify $125 for each bridesmaids flowers when they have to just throw them away the next morning. I'm working on either silk flowers for my girls that I will take with me or see if they will just do a single rose to match the roses in my bouquet. I will take my own matching ribbon and can handle that part myself.

I'm still not sure on photos. We're supposed to be taking all the kids on this trip so money is a major issue - plus we'll be having our reception at another time for folks back home and have that expense. We set a deadline for the oldest kids (adults) for a deposit towards the trip that will cover airfare in case they cancel but would become spending money for them once onboard. Today was that deadline and "no money" so I'm not sure what's going on at this point. It's something that I'll have to keep thinking on.

Otherwise....I'm figuring music...somehow "zippidity doo dah" doesn't quite seem right and neither does "someday my prince will come" considering it's a wedding and my "prince" should already be there.

I'm an obsessive planner so you'll have to forgive me...but it's only 6 months away and I'm on hyper speed.

We are in the SW corner of MI. 1/2 way between Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor about 3 miles south of I-94.

I was just reading another thread and music and might need to rethink....

Ok, after speaking with Jennifer on the phone today, I think I am more confused about whats going on. Not all of our guests were able to book the early dinning :sad2: and it's not a guarantee that they will be placed in it, talk about stress. However, the cc day is still open, so if we do change our minds, there is another option. I just would like to spend the evening in my dress. I wish there were a room on the ship you could rent out or something to make it easier on the brides.

I haven't even though about music yet. I don't know if the disney songs would fit me or dh2b. Since there will be not words, i would have to hear the music that way to see what I would like.

I'm lucky in that we moved the wedding up to a cruise we were already booked on so that we all know our dining schedule. I felt the same way about wanting to have it on ship and wear my dress straight on through dinner but the schedule just would not work - the early seating would all miss dinner and I just can't do that to people. Plus I want to make sure the girls see the farewell show...I missed it last year because I was packing and I'm determined NOT to do that again.

We did decide that we would wear our wedding garb to dinner Friday night. I don't plan on snorkeling or anything so my hair should be pretty well set still and I would just have to redo the girls' dos.....hopefully that will be no big deal!

I talked to Jennifer today too:

We were correct - since Palo is not open at that time all ages are welcome at the cake/champagne toast.

On flowers - I asked her about getting a single rose for the girls - they want $20 for the flower. They call it a presentation rose and you can only get ivory or red roses - so that is out for me since I'm going with the tropical bouquet with burgundy mini calla lillies, peach roses and the green orchids. Looks like I'm sticking with silk - still thinking a peach rose for the girls with ribbon to tie it all together.

Hair - salon workers will NOT come to your stateroom to do children's hair. It is entirely up to someone in your party to handle it. I'm not sure how that will work since I don't really want to leave them and go to the salon...hopefully I'll be able to come up with something for my hair that I can do myself or get done early enough to have time to do theirs. We'll work on it here at home - maybe the oldest can learn to do her own before then.
