Hi everyone

I have a 14 year old daughter who is till very fussy and in fact still prefers simple food like that from the childrens menu.

The question is can she still order from the Childrens menu or does she have to order from the adult menu?

We are also thinking of doing the dining plan, I know I will be charged adult rate but again can she order from the kids menu?

Thanks

regards

Really it depends on the restaurant. Most of the servers are really nice and will let a teenager order off the kids menu, no extra charge. Sometimes you'll get a server who wants to charge you 2X the price of a kids meal for a teenager (this happened to us at San Angel).

I'm not sure how it would work on the dining plan...they're usually pretty nice, so my guess is they'd let her order a kids meal at the restaurants even if she's paid for as an adult...

Don't forget that you can order some of the adult foods 'plain'. My dd10 loves steak, so we order it off the adult menu without it's sauce and with fries instead of whatever side is offered.

My 14 year old often orders from the kids menu, or just a side salad and soup, she just can't put a dent in an adult meal (portion wise) and feels so wasteful. Some places frown upon that, but I say "why does it matter?" if I want a childs meal or smaller portion, does it really matter? I don't think they should FORCE people to order larger portions...could be a reason why Americans are becoming larger people???? Only once did we have someone say "no it's for 12 and under" so we said "charge us the adult meal price and please bring her the child's size"...they ended up charging the child's size. But I really don't get why they care? It's not like they need to worry about everyone doing that...most of us like an adult meal and they will make their money. Sorry, ranting!

Thanks for the replys really appreciate it.

Guess I'll go with the flow and see what happens.

We did this for our 11 YO son and had no problems. He very picky, and we were on the dining plan. At a few places we ordered him a kids meal and paid out of pocket, and then DH and I used the leftover adult table service credits for our meal at California Grill. We did this at Le Cellier, 50s Prime Time, and Rose and Crown and it was fine. Good luck!

I am the same way. Most places do offer foods like burgers or chicken strips for adults even if they aren't listed on the menu. Or you can get things prepared differently. 1 place I know that doesn't really do those things is the Coral Reef restaurant at Epcot. But they let me order french fries for an appetizer, macaroni and cheese for an entree, and a sundae for dessert. It really shouldn't be a problem just let her look at the menu and if she doesn't like anything ask a waiter or waitress for what they can do about that. Hope this helps!:)

I've never had an issue with DS (we've been when he was 11, 12, and 13). He usually wants items from the kids menu. When we've been on dining plan, he was able to get appetizers and deserts from the main menu and an entree from the kids menu. I don't know why they would frown on that - they are saving since we are using an adult credit and getting kids food.
