Hi there, we will be getting the ddp for 2 adults and 1 child, is it true our child will be eating things like chicken legs, macaroni, and chicken nuggets for her meals from the childrens menu or are there more healthy options ?Also she will be turning 10 in the middle of our trip, does that mean she can order from the adult menu?thx

If your child is registered as a child, then she will recieve child meals for your whole trip. The children's meals also include 2 sides such as carrot sticks, applesauce, grapes. I believe that is healthy.

This post has all of the kids options for CS meals at parks listed in the first post. You'll see that there is a mixture of healthy and unhealthy foods to choose from.

One thing that is nice about Disney is that your CS choices are more varied than you'll find at the average burger chains around home. You have more than your option of "Cheeseburger, hamburger and nuggets", because they usually have one healthy option on the menu (salad, pinwheel sandwiches, chicken, etc)

You'll also find the same thing when you look at TS menus for kids around the world. A few standards and usually one 'normal' menu item (Spaghetti, chicken, etc)

PP is right though, if your child is a child when you check in they'll have child credits throughout. You can opt to upgrade your child to an adult, but you'll pay adult DDP prices and adult park ticket prices.

You can register your child as 10 from the beginning of the trip. If you're paying for the plan, you'll have to pay the difference between the adult and child plan, plus you'll need to buy an adult park ticket. If you're on free dining, all you'll need to pay extra for is the park ticket.

But you'd need to register her as 10 from the beginning of the trip, you can't switch her in the middle.

It depends what type of restaurants you are talking about...we ate at Ohanas, Le Cellier, California Grill, Boma, Jikos, Biergarten, Tusker House (breakfast), CRT (breakfast).

At Boma, Biergarten, and Tusker House...they can eat off of the buffet...anywhere. My children ate lots of yummy, healthy food. At Le Cellier, California Grill, and Jikos, the kids had options such a salmon, pork, grilled chicken, steak, etc.

At Ohanas, everything is family style. There is no menu. DD6 just opted to eat from the adults section. DS4, who had a double ear infection at the time, opted to eat mac and cheese (that's his feel good food) which the waiter brought specifically for him.

Even at Flame Tree Barbecue, our only CS meal, DD4 got a grilled chicken breast.

So, there were plenty of helathy options and we did not have to look for them...they were all on the menus.

Just to pile on, there's often a baked chicken/fish item on child TS menus. Also, it might be possible at some places (more likely at 3rd party restaurants) to get a child-size portion of an adult meal. (We did this at Rose & Crown to get the fish & chips for the kids.)

Also, as noted, buffets are an excellent way to break out of the more "standard" kids' meals.
