Are kids meals pretty much the same everywhere? I saw a kid meal site and they listed like 3 options. Seems kind of blah for a kid if they only have 3 things to choose from the entire time.

They have become very standardized, with an emphasis on "healthy" options. My DS is not into the "healthy" choices, he managed to eat hot dogs, cheeseburgers, pizza (without the grilled chicken topping) and chicken strips for our whole trip 2 weeks ago. You won't find all of those choices on each menu though, if there's a burger choice there won't be a hot dog.

Check the menus on allears.net, they're usually pretty up to date. Remember that unless you're on a dining plan, they can always order an adult entree or even an appetizer as their meal.

Well, the one thing that made me wonder this is that I was checking the menu at "fancier" places like California Grill and they didn't have anything listed for kids. I can't imagine her eating any of hte appetizers at that restaurant (she'd probably look at me like I'm nuts!!) :)
I'm sure we'll find something. This last time a few places made special things for us like grits and applesauce. It was great.

Oh, by the way-this is my 1000th post!!! WOO HOO!! 4 years in the making, but I finally made it!!!!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

On Allears, the kids menus are often listed on a seperate link, so you have to look for them. I like the WDWinfo menu format better, because the kids menu is at the end, but for some places (esp California Grill) with multiple menu headings for various types of appetizers, the adult menu can look a bit jumbled.

I'm glad that someone else noticed that kids meals didn't sound all that great. My kids like grilled chicken, but not cold, and I don't know if I can get them to eat it for a week straight. For our ADR's I tried to hit a variety of places--buffets, family-style and a couple of normal tableservice places. We have an ADR for Coral Reef, but I think that we may cancel that in favor of Kona Cafe since I think the kids will do better there.

What are some of the better kids's meal non-buffet places you have tried?

Thanks!

My kids like grilled fish, so they enjoyed the salmon at Grand Floridian Cafe (menu may have changed - we were there when the Cinderella character meal was held there during the 1900 Park Fare rehab). ESPN Club was a hit because they have "real" (fried) chicken strips. DS9 wasn't real impressed with the selections at Kona, though DD6 raved about her chicken noodle soup and mac & cheese. DS9 is looking forward to Coral Reef because he likes lobster bisque and mahi-mahi, both of which are on the kids' menu there. And any restaurant with steak on the kids' menu (Le Cellier, most of the signature restaurants) is a hit too.

The kids options were terrible!!

We were just there in December and I was shocked at the limited menu for kids...it is a World for Children!!! (and don't flame me, I love Disney too but it really is geared for kids!!) As nice as it was for me to have a lot of options, I would have felt better with more options for my kids and less for the adults. I don't mind limited choices as long as they are good. But my kids were over the chicken nuggets by the second day.

And many of the kids items that Allears listed for a restaurant were not right. For example, the Tangerine Cafe no longer has pizza.

I am so glad I brought snacks into the parks with us. And a few times I let the kids eat my meal and I picked at theirs.

Best of luck!:goodvibes

1) Somewhat right.
2) Walt built DisneyLand for families.
3) This policy was well carried forward.
4) But, now it is a land for Disney-corporate.
5) They do not concern themselves with families (and kids) like they use to.
6) It is a true pity when an organization loses its focus.

this is why we go to the nicer buffet meals most of the time like 1900 park fare (our fav) the kids can get whatever they want ......
