My daughter who is 5 got sent to the principal office today for yelling across the hall she said.

Shouldn't I have got a call or a note saying she went to the princpal office.

If they needed you to address something they would have sent a note. It happened at school, the school dealt with it, it is over. If it was serious they would have contacted you. This is step one to letting go of your babies-as hard as it may be-the teachers and school personnel will discipline your children without contacting you.

I know I'm sure she did yell LOL she very vocal!! It so hard to know what really happend coming from a 5 year old

I wouldn't think they would call and or send a note unless she was yelling bleepity bleep words. Sounds like something minor enough that they could take care of it there. Some things they deal with one on one, some things take all of you.

What she said!

Maybe the principal thought the teacher overreacted...had a little chat with your DD (i.e. to not undermine the teacher) and then let her go, because he didn't think it was that big of a deal.

Trust me...if it is a big deal, they'll call.

What happened in the office? Was it a "we don't yell in the hallway" 3 minute visit? If so, then no, I really don't see why anyone would need to send a note or call you.

Yep, our principal is like that. He has been known to witness something small (like a child peeking under the bathroom stall door)and let the teacher know he will bring the child back after they talk. It makes an impression on the students to see that the principal is interested in the day to day goings on of the school.

I had one parent who was very upset that her son had to go to the principal's office for hitting another child with a large block. He is pre-K and she thinks he will get "stigmatized". I told her she would have to talk to the principal, because he ALWAYS comes and gets a child who has hurt another intentionally.

At my old school, things were never dealt with unless a child was a repeat offender and the teacher demanded that admin get involved. I think it is refreshing that the principal is involved and the kids love him too.
