We are at OKW right now. This morning, since my DD was the only one signed up for the kids fishing trip, they let DH get on the boat too. It was supposed to be $30 for each child, they just split it and made DH and DD each for $15!!! They went out for an hour with a fishing guy and a captain (a lifeguard). DD and DH both caught quite a few fish (catch and release). It was GREAT for them!!! Much better money spent than the pirate cruise IMHO.

DD wanted to go again tomorrow but the boat is full (max is 5 kids). It is wonderful if you can get in. Just get a weekly activity list from Community Hall so that you know when they have it. This week is for Friday and Saturday morning between 9 and 10.

No problem with our vacation at all. Excellent bus service to the parks. Though we have a car, I actually prefer the bus. Was at the front desk one day to get my room key replaced, and got 2 baloon animals made by their cm. My younger DD went back wanting to exchange for another one and they just gave her another one. Magical!!! It made their morning!!!

Checked out SSR and it looks very nice. We pool hopped there twice. Great small kids slide and kids water interactive area. Looking forward to our stay there in August!!!

Lat,
Thanks for the report and glad to hear you're having a nice time at OKW. The fishing sounds fun :fish:
We feel bus service is very good at OKW as well and prefer it to our car except for resort dining/shopping and the water parks.

party: YAHOO !!! party:

Keep your reports coming and enjoy yourselves!!.

I'm trying to do things that I haven't done before...in 34 yrs of going to WDW.
I have a 1st time fishing trip scheduled for May from the VWL...for 2, 50+ year old kids..... and much looking forward to it !!

How old do the kids need to be to take part in the fishing at OKW?

I'm glad you and your family are having such a good time!

Thanks :sunny:

I know it is for at least 5 year old. I think the max is 12 yo. It is the same boat as if you were taking the adult fishing trip which would have been $230 for 2 hours in the morning. We paid $30 and DH and DD both had the fishing rods and a private fishing guide :)

We also took the bike rental yesterday and went around OKW resort in the morning. The kids love the turtle pond area. I can see why people love this area in particular. If you have little kids and are in one of the buildings right by the pool, you have the pool, and playground and turtle shack all right there. When we biked there, there was only one family on the pool, it is like their private pool, while the main pool was crowded by HH!!!

Yes, they offer it at SSR also.

Thanks for sharing! It sounds great. :sunny: Are parents not normally allowed on the boat?

This is a great idea! I'm glad you posted your experience.

Bobbi :)

No, only the kids. 5 max and I belive ages 5-12. They originally told us that DH can only watch but not allowed to fish. But when they got there, he was treated the same as my DD. Got a real fishing rod and had a great time!!!
