kids eating off adult menu

What a great thread! I could see my kids getting burned out on mac and cheese and pizza....but now I know that they can get their salad and steak! Do you have to see it on the menu to get it? DD is a big pasta and butter lover. Think I could get that? I KNOW I saw several appitizers that they would eat! Thanks for the info!

My DS loves to order Shirley Temples, and, after our first dinner, they were brought to him automatically. Unfortunately, our assistant server (Brent) overachieved one evening and brought one filled with cherries, which my DS ate. That night DS was violently sick for about 3 hours, and we attributed it to the cherries. The next evening, as we sat down Brent set a Shirley Temple (filled with cherries) in front of DS, who turned chalk white. After explaining the situation, Brent, somewhat embarrassed, I think, removed it and went back to one cherry per glass!

I tried to post on the stand alone popcorn thing, but I've been having trouble with the post button lately.

The popcorn is only at Preludes, and it is pre-popped in a bag like you get at the grocery. DS is a big popcorn fan, and he ate the whole bag (about 3/4 at the show, and the rest after dinner). I took one bite, and it was standard grocery store stuff. If your son really wants popcorn, it will be fine. But if he's looking for the stuff like WDW, this ain't it!

As to the price, I do think $2.00 was right. There is no tip added to the snacks, unlike the drinks (smoothies). DD found the rock candy about 1/2 way through the trip, and we gave her the "you can have candy or a smoothie, not both". She went for the candy most times, and it was $1.00. Probably the most reasonably priced thing on board LOL!

When I checked my stateroom bill in the midst of the cruise, it took quite a while to figure out those weird $1 and $1.50 Upbeat charges, but it was the snacks at Preludes.

As far as I know, to take popcorn into the Buena Vista theater, you'd have to go by Preludes at a time it was open and buy and bag to carry with you. Preludes is only open around the shows in the WDW theater.

daltons....I also agree that there is a alot of waste onboard all cruise ships. That is why I tell my kids they can order what they want as long as they are sure they are going to eat it. If they are iffy about an item I tell not to order it. They have been great about it.

This is also the reason I am glad Disney does not do the traditional midnight buffet like other cruise lines. They are only really for photo opps and some people who can't go to sleep without eating a full meal again. I would be one of those people who says "I'll just pick"....and wind up eating a ton. I am glad I don't have to be tempted!!!

I like the way Disney just bring around trays of nibble foods at midnight. Not as much waste.

Do they not have the midnight chocolate buffet anymore??? This is one thing we were looking forward to.:( I also agree with waste, but if my kids will try something new it might be worth it, as long as they don't waste the whole plate.:)

On the Wonder, they had a midnight fruit and dessert buffet on the Nassau night, I believe. It was a scrumptious spread on deck 9 near the pool area.
