Kids drinks on DDP?

When using DDP, do kids have to order a drink from the "kids drinks" section of the menu? I noticed the options are usually soft drink, milk, or juice, but are they allowed to order a smoothie or shake, for example, if the restaurant offers it?

They have to stick with what is on the children's menu. They'll usually allow substitution of a soda...but probably not a smoothie or shake. You can ask at the restaurant but probably shouldn't expect a yes.

They can order then but there will be an additional charge (as there would be for adults too) as they are not part of the standard drink offerings.

We were only charged extra if it was in a souvenir cup.

I just know that at Sci-Fi dine it a shake doesn't count as a drink on the kids menu.

It must depend on the place or who your server is as we had no problems substituting out the kids drink at most places. The only place that gave us a hard time was the food court at our resort.

At Coral Reef my son was able to get a smoothie and at Sci-Fi he was able to get a shake on one trip and the next he wasn't. We use DxDP, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
