Are you all sick of this pattern, yet? One last hoodie. Jack is in love with Spiderman right now!

i am going to check out that site right now it sounds like fun...

I bought my Christmas outfit fabrics there and some cute Valentine's fabric. They are in Nevada so that is why we get it so quickly in Utah I guess. Still waiting on your TR though!

Master Applique Artists! - For those that have become completely comfortable with their applique techniques - what stitch width and length do you find yourself defaulting to? I find myself second guessing, and would like the input of all of you that have mastered this craft.

Thanks! She was really slipping in and out of character. So we are at a Character breakfast, pretty small, not many tables (Ariel's Grotto). Aurora stands at one end of the table by DD2. DD10 gets up and moves over for the photo. I'm telling DS5 and DS8 to come on, get over in the photo. DS8 has ADHD and meds have not kicked in yet and he is not exactly jumping and running to the other side of the table (he's not exactly ignoring me either, he's just taking his time). This is a boy with self-esteem issues. Aurora tells him, in a sugary phony almost snide voice "you need to come over here now, because I've got other people to see!" As everyone is getting into place, I glance up and see her looking over my shoulder rolling her eyes at someone. Now Fairy Godmother on the other hand took time to speak to each child in the restaurant individually, so apparently she wasn't in quite as big of a hurry. Sheesh!
oh how rude! i am so glad it was not me i might have had to say something to her ;) we did the same breakfast and i can tell you from experience there was no need for her to say anything. i loved fairy godmother she was so sweet, the characters would visit each table and even though it was just me and my DD they talked to us for a bit . i am so sorry that you had a snooty aurora she is also my favorite:hug:

That's terrible! I don't think we have ever encountered a character like that, I would be ticked off too! They usually make you feel like you are the only one in the room.

th_brothers5421.jpg

I love it! I bought Ariel fleece and a pattern (simplicity 5362) for a hoodie for my daughter. Now I am wondering if I should line it. Now that I read the pattern I see there is no instructions for lining it. Did you figure it out yourself? It sure is cute!

Okay, so I get a phone call from one of the girls who was bringing over her kids, and she had to pick up her son, who is my DD's "boyfriend", from school early because he was sick. Then I called the other mom to see what was going on and her DD had just thrown up so we ended up not having people over today.

So that gave me the excuse I needed to stop cleaning (not like I don't have people coming in here tomorrow) and to break out the sewing machine. WooHoo!

I'm already putting together a Disney princess twirly top, too bad it's not for our trip, it's for a gift but hey, I'll be done with it in a little while. I just have to get the apartment maintenance guy ready for tomorrow, they come do the filters and stuff.

I'm working on loading some photos to photobucket from our Sept. trip (yeah, I'm slow like that) so that I can get them posted. Once I get some of the customs done for this coming trip, I'll post them. We are using some of the same customs because I might as well get her to wear them before she outgrows them, right?

I'm off to finish this skirt and then make dinner just as soon as I get something to stop the pain in my mouth, I ate something sharp and now it hurts. Note to self: remember that just because it doesn't hurt doesn't mean the stitches aren't still there... :sad2:

Uh Huh, SURE. But, what are you thinking making me cry like this? It breaks my heart that she didn't have a Mommy to kiss her when she fell. How old was Morgan when you adopted her? You are both so lucky to have found each other! :grouphug: There I go crying again, I'm glad we bought Kleenex yesterday.
QUOTE]

To set the record straight-if you ask Morgan- SHE adopted me! And I am not arguing. I pick my battles and that ain't one of them!:rotfl:

btw, I also recommend Puffs with lotion-much better than kleenex LOL

Cindee
Ok, I will remember that if I meet you two! (Which I REALLY hope we can do!)

Thanks for the Puffs tip! :rotfl:

I improvise with anything that has a good weight for it's size - tuna cans work well. :) Mostly I use the weights for pattern pieces that are fairly simple in shape - like pants, peasant top pieces, etc. It's so much quicker than pinning. I use scissors so I have to be careful that I'm not causing the pattern to shift as I cut.
Tuna cans!! I have those! I will try it next time I actaully sew something!

Okay here are the pics...

April
:welcome: April!!! All these outifts are great! I love the patchwork skirts and the Little einsteins! I have yet to attempt a patchwork skirt. I may need to though! You did a fantastic job with all these! Thanks for coming out of lurkdum to share!
Super cute! I've been wanting to tackle a Mulan outfit, but it's on my list! Good job on that witch, she looks beutiful!
I just ordered Aminda a Mulan dress, so I can cross that one of of my to-sew list! (Yeah, I know, I cheated!)

I was just starting to miss the both of you on here going back and forth it makes me laugh. I found a nice supportive friendly group of people that I enjoy talking with even though I might not ever meet anyone from here I still consider everyone a friend. So when i noticed she haden't been on much I thought i would ask if she was ok.:grouphug: to all.
Thank you so much! We feel like all you ladies and Tom are like family too! I'm sure our Mom gets tired of hearing us talk about our Disboutique friends! And, I've been missing Heather too!
I had a friend who used them & loved them (I have trouble keeping the pattern from puckering when I use pins). I was too cheap to buy the wieghts so I used my ceramic coasters. It works really well. I do have to be careful not to shift the pattern, but it saves me ALOT of time pinning patterns down & makes it easy to move the pattern pieces around for the best fit.
Thanks for the input!

My sister is pregnant. They have been trying for almost a year and a half and finally after one IUI cycle - they are pregnant!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

She is due in May and now I have a baby to sew for. They are not finding out the gender. Which means I must find all gender neutral things for now. Here is my first project. Both sister and BIL are Irish so the flannel fabric seems appropriate.

Drama queen Lauren wanted her picture taken too.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting!!! Do they live close by?

I love the picture of Lauren!!! What a doll!

Ditto on that!!! I hate cutting out so much, if I don't do all of it at once, I'm apt to not finish the project, especaily when I'm working on something smocked...that's the fun part for me.

I've got the weights, but never had much luck keeping everything from shifting all over the place when cutting, so I pretty much only use them to hold down the tiissue or pattern-ease when I'm tracing off a pattern. I have a friend who swears by them, but she has a cutting table with a mat and cuts everything with her rotary cutter. I'm not talented or brave enough to atempt anything but a straight edge with one.

I HATE pinning and cutting too! I use my rotary cutter for everything. So, you think that would be easier than using scissors with these weights?

How about a hoodie jacket? I've made several of them using Simplicity 5378 and found it to be pretty easy. Here's a picture...
th_brothers5419.jpg
These are SO cute!!!
Don't apologize for the drama queen: I think we all have at least one. That must be why they are such cute models!
.

STEPH! I LOVE your new signature!!!! TOO FUNNY!!!

poor little fishies

How do the weights work? You just set them on top of the fabric to hold it down or is there something magnetic to make them stay in place?
I think they just weight down the pattern, you just set them on top of the pattern and fabric.

Okay, so I've mastered the thumbnail pictures but how do you get them to go left and right instead of up and down? It takes up a lot less room that way it seems.

I'm not done reading to the end, so sorry if this has been answered. You just take out all spaces between pictures.

I did it I did it without throwing my craptacular Machine out the window. I wasn't worried about breaking the machine I was worring about the window it would have gone through. Althought there is t he option of opening the front door and chucking it down the stairs and watching it bounce all the way down.:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: Thats what keep me trying today know it was an option. But I did it like I said I put ruffles on two pairs or overalls. Thanks for the support everyone.

Okay, I finally got my Disneyland trip photos photobucketed.

Here are the kids outside of California Adventures. They turned the letter A's into candy corns. I appliqued DD10s Halloween Mickey head shirt, DS8 and DS5's Jack Skellington shirts, and DD2's Mickey head Halloween shirt and I made her patchwork twirl skirt. You have seen them all before! I couldn't find DD2's black shoes (until I cleaned the playroom yesterday  ) so she ended up wearing the utterly unmatching (to my dismay!) pink crocs.

Here are the kids at Ariel's Grotto for breakfast with the snotty Aurora

And the sweetest Ariel ever!

Here is my family with Peter and Wendy at Mickey's Halloween Treat. Peter and Wendy were playing tag with some cast members and no one even noticed them! Costumes were purchased before I took up sewing and this is the end of the night where hats have been shed and sweatshirts donned. (And DS8 is sick of photos and just wants a soft pretzel).

DD10 on the chaise at Minnie's house--No Sewing Machine at Disneyland!!! and Minnie's house will be closed when we go to Disney World! What am I to do?

Hi, welcome to my mini-trip report

To be continued!

Wow what a great looking family! I love all the customs you made!

Nevermind. I figured it out. Well, I have no idea what the problem was but I turned the machine off and then on and started again. After picking seams forever I practiced a bit and it was working fine. Got both of them done!! Yipeeee!! I must admit they don't look all that beautiful but I think they will get the job done.
Yeah!!! I'm glad you got it to work!!!

Look at you, coming out of lurkdom and with all these great outfits already made!! Your DD is absolutely adorable. She reminds me of a little girl that I loved at our daycare way back (I'm talking about Alyssa, Teresa).
:welcome: :rockband: :jumping1:

THANK YOU HEATHER!!! I was trying to figure out who she looked like! Sweet little Alyssa!!!

The Joann's by me is closing down in about 6 weeks! My friend who works there just called and told me.

I must blow off my work tomorrow and stock up!! No other big fabric chains are very convenient, and it's next to impossible to find licensed fabric in the city. :(
:sad1:
-Angela
That is TERRIBLE!!! I feel for you!

The costumes are adorable!!!!! So are your girls, as usual!! I have to ask, do you call her Nana in real life?
I always wonder the same thing! "Does Alli call her Nana too?"

I LOOOOOOOVE this picture!!! It makes my heart melt!!! We made ADRs at Norway just so Lydia could see Ariel in May and she was NOT there! I was so disapointed! So, the next day, we stood in line for an hour in the rain, next to a little girl who lost her lunch near our feet, just so Lydia could meet Ariel!

(I felt so bad for the poor little girl in front of us!)

Okay, I can answer your first question....:yay: Yes, my grandchildren call me "Nana"! I picked it out so I would have a different name so the Grands would not get confused over who they were going to see. Of course, I'm their "favorite" 'cuz of all the "Stuff" I create..;) ;) ;) And then later I became The Nana of Nana's Custom Creations. Luv Ya, Nana

I thought Alli was your daughter? Have I been confused? That happens a lot!

Part 2:

We waited over an hour at Princess Fantasy Faire and I am SO glad that when we got to the front of the line Lily's beloved "Lella" was there!

Thanks for playin'! Now I get to sew! My fabric just arrived today from Yummy Fabrics.com--so excited! (and it only took 3 days :confused3 !)

This is adorable too!!! Your son is so cute!

Careful of the stitches!

Someone asked about the thumbnails. You have to put th_ in every picture.

Well, I just call her mom, but the grandkids all call her Nana!!!

I always wonder the same thing! "Does Alli call her Nana too?"
Nope, you're not confused at all!! Nana is my mom, who I just call mom, unless she's not listening to me, then I call her Nana or Carolyn!! :rotfl2:

Part 2:

DD could not stop dancing in her princess outfit!

Last one, I promise! We were exiting Space Mountain (where there was no line :cool1: ) and found Mickey and Minnie off in a little corner by the bathroom. I looked over and Minnie was peeking under the hood of my stroller waking DD2! (She'd had a long nap and looooves Minnie so it was all good!) We were practically the only ones around except, oddly, a family that lives in our neighborhood at home. :confused3 Sorry, my red-eye fixit tool went a little whacky.

Great outfits and pics. How cool is it to see Mickey and Minnie together...I love the one of Ariel and your DD too! Thanks for sharing!

:yay: :cool1: :cheer2: I finally figured out the thumbnail thing! Thanks Teresa! :flower3:

I need to vent....Gosh, I am so upset at our favorite auction site. I listed a yard of fabric a long time ago. Someone bid and won, and then decided not to pay. She's been telling me that she sent the check, and then she said 2 weeks later that she sent another check. Well...gee, guess what. 30 days later...no check. Big surprise.:sad2: So what does my nice buyer do, I left her neutral feedback, because she did keep in touch with me, I was trying to be nice, she decided to leave me a negative feedback for not taking paypal. I wish ebay would change their policies on that. If someone is a non payer, they should get negative feedback with out being able to retaliate (SP). It's just not fair. I work so hard to make all of my buyers happy, and then you get a loser like this...make's me angry...
Okay vent over...now we can get back to our regular programming of cute kids with just out of the bath hair, and cute outfits that we spent way too much time making...:rolleyes1

Sorry to hear about that!! Years ago I remember getting negative feedback becuase I didn't accept checks... what!?! The auction clearly stated no checks; money order only (this was in the days before paypal). I really don't understand people sometimes.

Today I went looking for some coordinating fabric to go with this
IMG_5347.jpg

I love it but when I go to Joann's none of the colors look like they match right. I really want some fabric that was made to go with it. I bought it at Joann's and it was with the Juvenile apparel fabric and it said Juvenile apparel, Holiday Scottie on the end. I bought 3 yards of it.

Has anyone seen this before? Or a coordinating stripe or pattern?
I may go with some red with white polka dots.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it. I am not good with color schemes.

I may have to make a coordinating shawl (poncho) That was adorable!
Thanks, I have to go get my kids in bed now!

No suggestions on a coordinating fabric, but THANKS for posting this! I saw a cute skirt made from this fabric the other day and now I really want some. I saw FQs of it listed on :wizard: but wanted to see if I could find it locally, and cheaper, before paying those prices + shipping. Guess I'll be making a stop by JoAnn's tomorrow.

I was able to sneek in a stop at Hancocks on my way to work after a doctor's appointment Tuesday... I found a christmas disney print on the flat-fold table for $1.95 a yard and a couple of great Tigger co-ordinating prints (orange with Tigger's face and turquoise with words like Bounce, etc on it.) I was hoping to take pictures to share, but then my DH would ask what I was doing, when I should be finishing papers for school - only 1 1/2 weeks left of grad school:banana:

ok, here two more I finished today. the lighting was horrible tonight! Really bad, but now she is super grumpy and in a bath thank goodness!

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I truly thought I'd lost it for awhile there! I love seeing the two of you on here. You guys seem to have such a close relationship. We adore our Mom too!

Okay, I'm going to have to CASE this. I have that fabric and I have carried it into literally 4 stores looking for something to go with it to no avail. Apparently I never thought that white would work. Duh!

If anyone has seen my brain please tell it I miss it and would love for it to come home...
