Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

I'm really trying to catch up with this thread, so please forgive me if you already have had help with this!!

I LOVE the new Asian inspired wrap tops that there are patterns for. Why not do one in Mulan's colors and then make some jeans with the same color ribbons on the cuffs?

A pair of decoupage jeans in Asian prints would be neat, too!

That is a great idea. Thanks.

lisa - I think your photos are just right - I hate how some of the photos on that site are over the top -
no offense if any of the sellers are here, I'm just a purist - I think kids should be kids without makeup and weird pouty lips.
unless it's natural.

There are some people who do amazing photography and I love to look at their listings simply for the photos. However, sometimes I think people forget the subject of the listing photos are the items being sold and not the cute kid wearing them. ;)

ps - will you make me an outfit using the celery dogwood fabric? Heh. Just kidding.

Oh I love that fabric and celery is a great shade of green. :)

Lisa - I just wanted to say that I think your auctions are a great middle ground as well. I love it when I see Zoe showing your creations, and I love it when I see other cuties as well. But to see just the beauty of your work without a model shows me your skill just as well. I agree, I'm not real into pouty lips and airbrush.

Thank you! I agree about the pouty lips and airbrushing. I do some basic editing to improve the photos and have covered some scrapes and scratches so they aren't distracting. Aside from that, Zoe is being a kid... and the pouty faces don't get used except for future blackmail when she's a teen. :lmao: My biggest problem is getting her to stop talking long enough to take the pictures. And then of course there are the many photos like these...

It was an iron-on. I wanted him "swimming" in the ric rac like Tom's cute duck, but I couldn't get him situated right. I ironed him on and then sewed by hand around the edges from the back. I hope he doesn't fall off in the wash!

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good site that had a big selection of iron ons? There is not a big selection at JoAnn's.

Also, to show I am crazy, here are Megan's and my coordinating outfits. I am trying to decide if I should make more. She has more outfits that I didn't coordinate. What do you think? Am I crazy?

Also, I was in JoAnn's and Disney was on sale and I found this adorable Tink fleece. I think Megan needs a new outfit for our trip, don't you?

I'm sure I'll finish it by the time we leave Friday, right? I had better get sewing!
It's great to see someone else like me! I don;t have the outfits all done, but have plans to coordinate for most days. I'll post as I complete them together with my DD outfits.

OK, be kind....my first masterpiece :goodvibes My attempt at a twirl skirt:

Notice the far, far away shot so as to hide my uneven stitching ;) I will get DD to model it once I finish the shirt. I need some ideas. It is a plain white T from Waldemort, but it needs some jazzing up. Any suggestions? I have tons of these fabrics left over. Math is not my strongest trait :rotfl:

Love these outfits! How did you do the Minnie Mouse? Can you take a picture closer up? I love it!!!

what a great job !!! I think it would look good to get ariel on the shirt somehow and if this is your "first masterpeice" can I guess that an applique would not be your first idea....???

how about cutting out some of the ariel oval images and heat and bond them onto the shirt at about chest height in a band..know what I mean? like a row of them all next to each other all across the front or all the away around...or some of the solid purple gathered and sewn onto the sleeve bands????

can't wait to see how you finish it off...great job:cheer2:

By the way since I have not mentioned it yet . . . what a doll baby you have! She looks adorable! Was that her birthday dress?
Thank you :)
Yes she wore that dress for her birthday. We decorated with strawberries and daisies so the dress was perfect. Also I have it in a 12 month and 18 month so we had a backup in case she threw up on it :rotfl: (sorry, TMI I know but she has reflux).

I've seen pictures of sweet Hannah, but none of Sophie!

And might I say that I think the lot of us (on this thread) have the cutest kids ever!!!

Okay everyone here are my first creations of matching Disney outfits for my girls. I did alright on the sewing and found that it wasn't a hard project once I got that hang of it.
Let me know what you think....

This is the front of the baby's dress that I made.

This is the back of the outfit. As for the Disney letters on the back I wanted them to be slanted and the picture does nothing for it. It looks way cuter in person.

OHHHHH! It's so pretty! SATIN for your first! You ROCK!

Does she just twirl like the dickins all over the house?

Maybe a peasant top? Try Simplicity Sewing For Dummies # 4206. Should be a piece of cake (mmmmm, cake!)after the slippery satin and Ariel skirt!

The word SALE makes just about any price a deal, right?

Sadly, other than Halloween costumes, I didn't sew much for Zoe when she was really little. On our trip to WDW she was almost 3. I'd booked some princess meals so decided to make her a princess gown to wear... and then made a second in case we saw the same people at different meals. LOL

BTW - I shared pics of her in the princess gowns on the DIS and was encouraged by other members to consider sewing for others. Since then, I'm made a lot more for her but she's grown so fast and I feel like I missed the perfect size for full-on boutique clothes. Oh well, it's not like we have anywhere for her to wear them if we don't have Disney trips planned. LOL
But you know what I keep hearing is that there isn't enough for the "older" girls. You have such a great sense of style that if you design things girls' Zoe's age and a little older want to wear, you're filling a void and will probably be very profitable.

I especially think the "older" girls will appreciate your fabric choices/mixes.

Ok, I said that I would not have time for my favorite board of all time a month ago, but I just had to post. I got a new sewing machine! :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

It is a Viking Huskystar C20. It is sooooo coooool! I bought it at JoAnn's and if you buy machines from the store, they will give you a free lesson on how to use the machine. I can't wait, a machine that thinks for me and a free lesson on how to use it. I think I am in heaven. :cloud9: When I get a break from school, I will begin to sew my creations. :yay: I can't wait.

Ok, I took my break from studying, now it is time to get back to the grind not to mention I need to get the kids bathed and in bed. Good night everyone! I miss you all!

I love everyone of these, and of course she needs a new Tink outfit!

I like the appliqued Minnie bow...was that a pattern or free-form?

I actually made the bow in word using ovals and used it as a pattern. I could e-mail it to you if you'd like or you can play around and make your own. Thanks!

stephres - I think your outfits are adorable! I'm coordinating with the kids I'm taking - and they're not even mine.
You just need to make coordinating bows now! heh.

Have you seen my bows? :sad2:

I love the idea of matching tshirts!!!!!! Maybe I have some scraps leftover from my creations to make me some! You might be crazy, (aren't we all?( but I think they look great!

Thanks! Yes, I think you should use up your scraps as well!

They had some iron on appliqués at JoAnn's; I want to think they had Ariel if you wanted to dress up the shirt that way. I think you did a terrific job, especially for your first try!

Thank you :)

Thanks!! Good idea on the ariel circles too! I was thinking of something like that but the thought of sewing them on scared me for some reason. (I didnt want my uneven stitching to show and on the shirt that would be probably unavoidable.) What do I use to heat bond them there?

OHHHHH! It's so pretty! SATIN for your first! You ROCK!

Oh yeah, she is twirling alright! I had to do the satin. It was a perfect color and the skirt says "what me sparkle' so I thought the shine of it was a good choice.
Funny you mentioned cake. I made one Sat for my sisters b-day. MMMM, chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling, chocolate buttercream icing. I would share the pics but she is a HUGE football fan, so it is a just football helmet. Not as creative as I usually am.

Love these outfits! How did you do the Minnie Mouse? Can you take a picture closer up? I love it!!!

Minnie (and Tink in the other photo) is painted on the fabric. I did that before I learned to applique. I love the detail I can get with painting but some people worry paint will fade or wash off so applique does better for me.

minnie_paint.jpg

If anyone is interested, here's the back view that also shows it with the skirt to add length and more ruffles. I think if I did this again, I'd do capris or just add the ruffles to the dress. I did like the color the plastic pony beads added to the ties. (Notice the "Minnie ear" hair, too? ;))

I'd love it if you could share. I can follow any pattern, I just cant seem to create on my own and have it look good. TIA

We "create" cute children, of course! lol

SO glad you asked this! I was wondering the same thing!!

Would've answered this way back on the 22nd, but I've been out of town n ad am back now!

My DD, her DH, my Mom and I are going Sept. 22- Oct. 1st (Same dates as Utahmomma) We're staying at YC the first day, then AKV for 5 days then finishing up at the GF! I'm so excited for this trip. It will be my grandbaby's first ever trip (Of course, this little one is still in mommy's tummy, but HEY, EVERY trip counts!!! LOL!!! Don;'t ever let it be said taht I slack in the Disney department!

No outfits to look for yet (unless I make some kind of baby on board t-shirt for DD.... anyone have any ideas??) I'm just storing up ideas so when this one is finally born, I can go like lightening on the sewing projects! I already have the fabirc

So who all is going in September? :woohoo:
What are your dates?
Where are you staying?
What are the ages of your kids so we can keep an eye out for cute kids in custom outfits? :thumbsup2

Not only do I have 2 shirts that match with my 2 DD but my husband has 1 that matches with my son. I wasn't planning on making one for him but HE ASKED, then he said he was going to put "This wasn't my idea." on the back.
He saw me looking at this thread last night and asked if I would put a picture of him on wearing his MM head T. I should do it just to embarass him. :rotfl2: Hey, other people match with non-custom Ts, why can't we look good in customs. :)

lisa - love the goofy pics of zoe!

dance - great job!!! instead of really appliqueing, you could seal the edges of the cut outs with fabric paint.
use heat n bond to stick the pieces to the shirt then iron them.

wdw1st - your outfits look great!

stephres - I haven't finished any bows yet. I be scared still! I might work on them in a little bit. after I finish my homework.

woo!
I'm excited to be in school again!

Ok ladies (and gentleman ;) - although so far, this message doesn't really apply to him becasue he is a man of few words... and GREAT talent!).......... I have determined that you all talk WAY TOO MUCH!!!! :scared1:

I've been catching up on this thread for the past hour. I went out of town for 4 days and you all went on a gabfest!!! :chat: :hyper2:

I started at page 740... and would you look what page we're on now?? It's gonna take me weeks to catch up! I just can't skip all those pages!! I need to know what is happening with who and when!!

Just please, make it all worth my while by telling me you really did notice I wasn't here and you missed me!! :rotfl2:  :teeth:

Okay...this question if for all of you sneaky folks..
I need a picture from an auction and I can't seem to save it...:rolleyes1
It's a jester outfit, under boutique petticoat. It's green and purple, and I love it!
I would like just the last picture if anyone knows how to ....ahem...get the picture for me....LOL
