Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

I go to AC Moore often, Lori, so PM me if you need a purple T (they have the dark purple and lavender). I have to get to the post office soon anyway :)

WOW!! I go away for a few days in order to clean house, see the Wiggles, and play host to DH's family (19 people + kids!! :scared1: ) and the thread explodes!! It's taken me about 5 hours to dig through it all! (Ok...I did take time out to feed/diaper/clothe the kid but still!)

I wanted to say that everyone's outfits are looking GREAT!!! There's too many to break out and get specific but everything looks wonderful!! I did get 2 of DD's outfits done  ...the princess apron shirt (which even made in a size 2 is too big) and a Mickey pillowcase dress that she wore to the Wiggles concert on Sat. I'll try to get pics uploaded as soon as I can.

I found one more but only the jeans are "familiar"

Cinderella Hand-painted Jeans + Disney Top 4/4T

(I don't paint much any more.)

I saw these! I WANT them!!!!!

I can imagine how cool it must feel to see your clothes back on Voldemort!
From what I can tell, when describing something from YOU, it's like the Gucci or Channel of that auction site. You've obviously gotten a wonderful reputation!

I fall in love with every single thing I've seen from you.

Is there very many sellers that earn their (whole) living sewing custom/boutique clothing? I notice a huge range of fanciness in their pages. I really don't read the one's who capitalize every word and don't double space. There's a huge range of quality of photographs too. I guess it's all subjective. There's so many types of people. One's who are simple and to the point, nothing fancy. And one's who go all out with graphics and descriptions.

By the way since I have not mentioned it yet . . . what a doll baby you have! She looks adorable! Was that her birthday dress?

aimeeg - can you tell us what pattern you used to sew that adorable sock monkey dress with the rick rack? I just love it.

It actually doesn't bother me - I just bid accordingly. What is happening is that eBay bases their fees off the listing price and what the auction goes for. Sellers are trying to minimize the fees (which have gotten too high IMO) and since eBay does not charge a fee based on shipping - they get it there. I think sellers realize they won't get as much for the item in the bidding and they are OK with that.
.

I had to ask a seller once if she had a typo because the shipping on the stroller she listed was $100. She told me exactly what you just wrote, and said it was common practice, especially on the higher end electronics. I think the stroller went for $115, so she didn't have to pay much for fees...shipping was probably only $20.

I'm jealous of you guys meeting up! The only Diser I exchange fabric with is that Hkite girl, and just between us, she is really QUITE ODD! :rotfl2:
It runs in the family....:rolleyes1

And, this is how Tessa and Lydia try to attract butterflies. I think she told me that they are suppose to look like a flower.
th_PrincessDress007.jpg
:lmao: Our girls are crazy!!

Oh yeah and :butterfly :butterfly These are for Tessa & Lydia :) .
Aw...how sweet. I showed Tessa and she said "I didn't know they had butterfly guys on there." She loves looking at all the smileys.

Did you do all that on the machine? I don't know how you did such a great job on a small applique without doing it by hand!

I really like the ruffles! The pirate overalls are adorable!! They look professionally done- great job!

I was afraid of sleeves at first too! I love this outfit! Is that little Nemo a pre-made applique or did you do cut it out? Your little sweetie is looking adorable in this outfit, as usual!

I LOVE it! I've got "big plans" for my 5 yards of Pooh Toille, I just have to gain a few more skills- zipper making skills, lots of layers gathering skills, making things that actually fit skills, etc...

I finally finished my Tinkerbell shorts. I have an appliqued shirt coming to match them.
th_ebay357.jpg
These are REALLY cute!!

I have an irrational fear of sock monkeys (and sharks, and alligators) But, even I think this outfit is adorable!!

FYI, my walmart had a ton of kids t-shirts and plain biker style shorts for about $1-$2 on clearance. I got a few plain tees to customize to go with the stuff I will be making for the trip. For that price, I couldnt even sew a shirt!
Thanks for the heads-up! Tessa has to wear shorts under her dresses because she doesn't have "lady legs" (thanks for the new phrase aimeeg), so I may have to get some of those biker shorts.

Wow, your ren faire looks a lot cleaner than ours, or something!

That is SO adorable!!

My 13 month tried swipe the cc today! She is a genious!:yay: :yay:
:lmao: My son did that a few months ago! He wanted to hold my credit card when we were in line at Sam's Club. When I gave it to him, he tried to swipe it through the card reader! We were cracking up, and my husband gave me "the look".

You did a GREAT job on these! My favorite is the Pooh one! BTW, you're not "stealing" those phrases! They belong to you as you are an official "disboutiquer".

Great job! Now you are in trouble though - you're hooked! If you are like me, soon you will not be able to sleep - all you can do is think about the next creation!
I don't think I've had a good nights sleep since I first got addicted to these boards. I have visions of Disney outfits dancing in my head.

I like the ribbons! I think HSM in rhinestones would be really cute, too!

I found it, thanks! And she does a great job organizing all this for sure. I am not an organized person, one look at my sewing room will tell you that. lol
It looks like you could get lost for hours checking out everything. Thanks again.
Yes, my sister is a VERY organized person!! :rolleyes1

My DD is so excited about the clothes too. I just love they are not from LTD2!!! My DH calls that store the prostitot shop! DD loves it by the way:laughing:
:rotfl2: This reminds me of the time I pointed out some revealing young girls clothing hanging at JCPenney to my husband. I said "Isn't that just wrong?" He said "Oooh...you should buy that!!" When I told him they were kid's clothes, he was absolutely apalled (sp?)!

If you have a strong urge to dress little ones I'll certainly let you dress mine. She's cute as a button and lots of fun to dress...You have fantastic taste and lots of talent...I'd be glad to dress her in anything you put together.....Believe me if my checkbook is feeling better by the time April rolls around you'll be hearing from me.....The deal is we tell my DH it was on "Sale" he never questions anything as long as I say it was on "sale":rotfl2:

The word SALE makes just about any price a deal, right?

Sadly, other than Halloween costumes, I didn't sew much for Zoe when she was really little. On our trip to WDW she was almost 3. I'd booked some princess meals so decided to make her a princess gown to wear... and then made a second in case we saw the same people at different meals. LOL

BTW - I shared pics of her in the princess gowns on the DIS and was encouraged by other members to consider sewing for others. Since then, I'm made a lot more for her but she's grown so fast and I feel like I missed the perfect size for full-on boutique clothes. Oh well, it's not like we have anywhere for her to wear them if we don't have Disney trips planned. LOL

aimeeg - can you tell us what pattern you used to sew that adorable sock monkey dress with the rick rack? I just love it.

Sure . . .

I used the bodice from Simplicity 4203 and made a strip skirt. I cut five wide inch rectangles for the skirt. I used the 22 inches of the fabric for the length. I ended up cutting about six inches off. Which is now becoming a skirt for the baby (with a big ruffle.) I then made a ruffle and attached it to the bottom.

I should have made the dress about two inches longer but . . . later she can wear it over jeans and a tee.

I was afraid of sleeves at first too! I love this outfit! Is that little Nemo a pre-made applique or did you do cut it out? Your little sweetie is looking adorable in this outfit, as usual!

It was an iron-on. I wanted him "swimming" in the ric rac like Tom's cute duck, but I couldn't get him situated right. I ironed him on and then sewed by hand around the edges from the back. I hope he doesn't fall off in the wash!

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good site that had a big selection of iron ons? There is not a big selection at JoAnn's.

Also, to show I am crazy, here are Megan's and my coordinating outfits. I am trying to decide if I should make more. She has more outfits that I didn't coordinate. What do you think? Am I crazy?

Also, I was in JoAnn's and Disney was on sale and I found this adorable Tink fleece. I think Megan needs a new outfit for our trip, don't you?

I'm sure I'll finish it by the time we leave Friday, right? I had better get sewing!

Love them!!! You are such a fun Mom!

I bought the Tink too! I think it will be great pj's. I am a little scared that I am now coordinating pj's to parks.

My DD just came in here and told me to finish her sock monkey shorts!:rotfl2:

Your daughters grin tells it all. I think it's great fun to see them get excited about outfits. They feel special. And proud of you to. I made Kirsta the Pluto/poodle skirt and all she can talk about is meeting Pluto while she wears it. I made ressies at 50 Prime time so could wear it there. I guess I can find Pluto somewhere.

Thanks for your comments - I agree it's the most pleasing, even when I'm not happy with something, for the girls to be excited about it and see it as perfect! BTW, I loved the Pluto skirt!

jennwdw - Love the new outfits! Those color combos are great!

Great job! Now you are in trouble though - you're hooked! If you are like me, soon you will not be able to sleep - all you can do is think about the next creation!

Thanks, you are too kind. You are right - I'm totally hooked. DD4 and I were out almost all day - one stop was at JoAnn's Etc where I think I actually started the get the shakes from all of the possibilities yet lack of time and money.

tommygirl - WOW! Great job - come applique for me! :rotfl2:

Surely you jest!!!! It's not great, but it was fun for a first shot. Thanks for the compliment.

I love the combo of colors here. I have seen this pooh. (I cannot remember where now :( ) and never thought to put it with brown! I love it.

Thanks! I did get that fabric at my local Waldemort!

LOVE THOSE OUTFITS!!!!!!!

I looked for the pink polka dot hankerchief at Waldemort today but they didn't have them. However, they did have this:

100_1936.jpg

I bought white tanktops (the only color they had) and I'm going to use this fabric with black thread to applique another mickey head with a ribbon bow on it. They will wear these to animal kingdom as well. I might try to applique a couple of shapes on some shorts for them as well, but we'll see how that goes and if I have time...they were only $.98 each!

I definitely mentally add shipping into the price before I bid. I learned after a few won auctions that shipping can really make a bargain much less of a deal. ;)

No bidding war from me...I won't bid I promise....too big and I don't NEED it...
Yikes on shipping...I usually avoid auctions w/crazy shipping because it irritates me on principal alone....:

Shipping is a big beef with me. We sell some football tickets on ebay, and we never charge handling fees. We do all of our football auctions "overnight mail" so its around 15 bucks. But i figure what e bay charges and paypal charges is what I have to pay to get into the exposure they give me. i do think it is a lot, and has gotten more and more expensive, but it's a business. Now I can, if I really want something, think about what sales tax would be, and figure that into the equation. But 6 bucks seems to pretty fairly mail stuff. And I can't stand when people charge outrageous fees.

Maybe - I am not sure the tiaras would bake well though - might melt the gitter and such on it.

The tiaras look like they are the type sold for weddings and such. If so, they'd be metal and crystal. Less expensive tiaras could be used but the way she was the polymer clay looped through the tiara on a couple made me think the clay was baked in place.

Wow, Zoe is really tall for her age. No wonder I thought she was older :)

A lot of people think she's older than she is. When the subject of school comes up, if people don't know how old she is they ask if she'll be in 2nd grade and are very surprised when she says kindergarten. I didn't think she'd be so tall because her birth parents aren't really tall (BM is 5' 6" and BF is 5' 10"). At the rate she's growing, she'll probably be taller than me before she's 10! LOL

I saw these! I WANT them!!!!!

I can imagine how cool it must feel to see your clothes back on Voldemort!

I fall in love with every single thing I've seen from you. .

Wow, thank you! I certainly don't think of myself in that way. I'm just a mom who got laid off aft 13+ years at the same job and I needed to find a way to earn some money until I could find another job. Doing this has allowed me to stay home with Zoe when I otherwise wouldn't have considered that as an option since I'm a single parent.

There are a lot of ladies who sew for others as a second income for their family. It allows them to stay home with their kids while still adding to their family's income. There are a few who are the sole "breadwinner" but it's hard to know how many make enough to support themselves. I think some the ladies consider it a hobby and just try to break even or do it to support their custom boutique shopping habit. LOL

There's definitely a wide range in the presentation, from the listing graphics to the photos. I consider mine to be fairly middle of the road - decent but not "Wow" inspiring. My camera does OK but I've realized I just don't have the time or interest in trying to get photo studio quality photos. Heck, I sometimes do the unthinkable and don't even use a model!!!! :lmao: What can I say, I'm a rebel. :cool2: I think some sellers are avid photographers as a hobby and work on improving their techniques. A few have even made photography a business for themselves as a result. I'm much more interested in trying new ways to embellish my sewing projects. Unfortunately, that means my photos don't always do justice to the finished garments.

I looked for the pink polka dot hankerchief at Waldemort today but they didn't have them. However, they did have this:

100_1936.jpg

DD and I went to Waldemort today, too, so I had to check the bandanas. No pink & white dots here either but I did get some pink with skulls and black with skulls. I have no idea what I'll do with them but it will be fun to experiment. I vaguely remember back in my youth that there was a way to use 4 bandanas to make a peasant style top with the bandanas on the bias. I'll have to play around and see what I can do.

I love everyone of these, and of course she needs a new Tink outfit!

I like the appliqued Minnie bow...was that a pattern or free-form?

Well, I figured out how to add a photo to my sig, so now you can see my princesses. Now I'm trying to see if this will work to add a photo of one of my creations. Not Disney related (But I'm working on it!). This is the smocked dress I made for Rebecca for our cruise last month.

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc229/tinkerbellemom/Rebeccapiano.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

tommygirl - I'm not kidding! (And don't call me shirley. :rotfl: ) When I post my first attempt at applique - or even the mess I made when I fake appliqued using fabric paint - you'll see why I need help!

stephres - I think your outfits are adorable! I'm coordinating with the kids I'm taking - and they're not even mine.
You just need to make coordinating bows now! heh.

lisa - I think your photos are just right - I hate how some of the photos on that site are over the top -
no offense if any of the sellers are here, I'm just a purist - I think kids should be kids without makeup and weird pouty lips.
unless it's natural.
ps - will you make me an outfit using the celery dogwood fabric? Heh. Just kidding.

It Did you do all that on the machine? I don't know how you did such a great job on a small applique without doing it by hand!

Yes, it's all by machine. I did some of the eyes by hand, but went over it with the machine to fill in and try to make it look better. It turned out ok, but there is definitely room for improvement.

What do you think? Am I crazy?

I love the idea of matching tshirts!!!!!! Maybe I have some scraps leftover from my creations to make me some! You might be crazy, (aren't we all?( but I think they look great!

Ok, here it is. I still need to work on re-sizing, but this was originally an 8x10. I'm sure digital snapshots will work better.

This is my Rebecca, she's 2 years old, and the reason I'm following this thread. I'm working on a few Disney related things, and I'll post those when I've got something to show.

Rebeccapiano.jpg

Lisa - I just wanted to say that I think your auctions are a great middle ground as well. I love it when I see Zoe showing your creations, and I love it when I see other cuties as well. But to see just the beauty of your work without a model shows me your skill just as well. I agree, I'm not real into pouty lips and airbrush.
