oh my! What beautiful work everyone has done. I had my DD3 birthday party last Wednesday, then off to Missouri for my sisters wedding, and came back to 30 + pages.... I just had to share the B-day pics. I made the cake, her outfit, and had the beads made for her necklace. I strung them. Guess you can figure out the theme!

How many here have used the Brother 6000i? Is it any good? Is it worth the price?

I am using an old machine my sil gave me a few years ago (she bought a new one) and it is more a destruction machine than a sewing machine.

That's the one I have. The price has been rolled back at Wally's and I think is 187 right now.

I love mine. It works beautifully.

For the cake I used a circle pan and easter egg pan. I placed the egg cake on top of the circle cake, then cut the bottom to more of an oval shape. For the engines, I used four ice cream cones. Two whole ones (baked cake in them), and the top ring off the other two cones. I slid the rings over the cake filled ice cream cones. Then I took grahmn crackers and broke away one corner to get the right shape for the "fin". They kept falling over, so I put a toothpick on each side and pressed them into the cone. I iced it all. Then added bite size Nilla Wafers for eyes and a tootsie pop for his antenna and Wha-la! We have Rocket!

I would be happy to share the wonderful, very talented creator of these beads, but before I do, I want to make sure it is okay with her. She sells beads on e-bay, (which I have purchased many sets) and I contacted her to custom make these. So I'm not sure, she would do these all the time. I'll email her, and let you know!

I finally finished my second applique project! We are going to Dutch Wonderland in PA and their theme characters are a green dino and a princess and a castle. I didnt get to the dino but the rest of the gang is here on the dress. The dress itself is a clearance item and a bit long. I tied up the bottom with ribbons and made ribbon hairbows to match!

I know that I am new here and let me just say all of you are so very talented. I know that most of you go to Joann and I wanted to know if any of you received the 40% off coupon in your emails. Sorry about the "just out of the tub hair" (that seems to happens a lot around here ), but here is the pillowcase dress I made for DD. It's very basic, but I thought it turned out OK.

Help guys! What do you think? This is for a BOY! I usually do patches on the leg, but not so many. I have had this thought in my head for a while now though and really want to do it. Is it too girly?

I usually do one front leg with some patches, not nearly this many though. I am unsure if I would wrap it around to the back or not. I really want Michael Miller ironwork in black and white but cannot find it for the life of me. I would like to leave the polka dots out, but improvising for now. Of course I really want to sew it together too! Should I take out the weird white dots and add the blackish gray piece sitting next to it.

Zero will be white, pumpkins orange and oogie boogie on the back green, so that is why there is a slice of green. Oh and imagine the top square black with a jack face, not polka dot with a blob of white. I also might need to readjust the patches.

has anyone ever used felt? Washed felt? This is not felt, it is stablizer of some sort, but now I see it isn't too even. I like the dimension it adds. I will do a jack face on it of course.

Felt is fun ... and since it does not unravel = you can do the regular prep work = put heatNbond or WonderUnder on the back, draw on the paper side (or trace on it BEFORE you attach it to the felt) and simply cut it out, adhese it to the outfit with the iron (use a pressing cloth to not scorch it), then ...
Simply straight stitch just inside the outside edge all around (or hand stitch it ... or machine zigzag like a decopauge, or ON the edge for more of a applique look) ...
You can double layer it for a 3D look, too
Stitch or glue on some detail lines/items ...
You can even add FINE DETAIL with a fine machine straight stitch ... (which can be done as finishing touches ~OR~ BEFORE it's cut out & adhesed/attached, by stitching through the paper backing, on the traced or drawn lines) ...
And TAAADAAA ... you're done!
Plus, most are polyester & so the white stays fairly white with wear & cleans up well ...
IF it gets fuzzy, just refresh it, by pressing it with medium heat iron & a pressing cloth
I think it would be great for a "Jack" face!
Perhaps consider doubling it, for a brighter white & get the 3-D look

All the LE images came from a stickerbook I got at Toys r us, with over 700 stickers. I just scanned them. We have gotten our money out of that book!

Did you scan and then print on transfer paper, or what? I would love to make a similar shirt for my DD!

AARRGG!!!! I got DD's halloween "costume" today. I debated on wether or not to buy or make it. I'm glad I bought it!! It turned out so cute!! She'll also wear this for our cruise in February. (apparently there's a pirate night) I just need to find striped tights (black/white or red/white?) also, does anyone know where I can get a tricorn hat?

The corset top is reversible...the reverse side is the red dots with the skull fabric as the middle panel.

I have a question... about bloomers. Does anyone know where to buy bloomers/diaper covers for toddlers. DD is 2, wears 3T and is not potty-trained. I hate when her diaper is visible when she wears skirts. I know I could put underwear on her over the diaper but does anyone have any other ideas? Any place to buy a bloomer for a reasonable price. And please don't suggest sewing on myself - I don't think I am up for that yet.

I get mine from Voldemort. You can search "boutique bloomers" or monogrammed bloomers" also try using diaper cover instead of bloomers in your search.

I am a firm believer in "bloomies". My DD7 still wears knit shorts under her skirts. That way she can still wear the cute skirts and be modest at school and P.E. When she was little, we called them fancy panties and just got the ones they sell at Parisian, or Macy's, or whatever mall store you have access to. They were usually silky with ruffled lace on the booty.

My MIL boasted that her daughter always had embroidered bloomers, but whatever!

Just about any loose fitting shorts pattern can be made into a bloomer
You can use grograin ribbon or bias tape to make the elastic casing (inside or outside) ... about 1" up from the thigh hem, to make a sort-of gathered/ruffled look
OR
insert elastic in the hem of the shorts to end up with regular non-ruffled bloomers

You can use clear elastic & a large darning/yarn needle to turn almost any pre-made / store bought loose fitting short into a bloomer = just run it though the leg hem ...
I did this alot for my 3yr old ... I left the knot visible, so later it can be snipped to make them back into shorts again

For those of you who wanted to know about the Little Einsteins beads, I can give out that info now. Yes, she does just about all disney characters. I've already purchased Pinocchio, Belle, Beast, Aladdin, Mickey and Minnie, Peter Pan, etc... She sells them in sets. Right now she has a snow white and seven dwarfs set. PM me for her id!

My DD is 4 and likes to twirl and climb too much to not wear something underneath a skirt/dress. I use bike shorts. They do the trick and don't add bulk.
