I saw this posted on another board and wanted to share with you guys. You register your kids aged 15 and under and they can bowl 2 free games every day during the summer. Its perfect for those rainy days, check your state and city to see if there is a location near you that participates.

We did this last summer and will be repeating this year. You also have the option of adding four adults to the plan for less than $30 total. It allowed our whole family plus grandparents to bowl together for almost no cost. The adults have bowling shoes, so we only paid for kids shoe rental.

This will be our 3rd year doing it. We even bought shoes last year, which, in the long run, saved us money.

I signed up last year with my neice and nephew. I paid for my brother and SIL and myself and we never got to bowl. I did register a complaint at the website but nothing ever came of it.
Every time we went to the lanes to bowl they had groups or parties going on and had cancelled the free bowling for the day. We tried at least 2 times per week, and even asked the person at the desk what days would be the best to come and he told us Tuesday is the slow day. Well every Tuesday was camp days when we went to bowl.
Of course there is only one alley that takes part in this "free" bowling in our area.

There was only one in our area as well. I signed up for it, though. I figured it is free so if it they don't cooperate, nothing lost :) I'm going to send the link to the mother's of my kids friends. It'd be awesome if we could get up an inexpensive outing for those "I'm so bored" days LOL

Thanks OP

wish i could use this! but the closest one is more than an hour away and a mission to get there. will pass it along to my family
thanks!!

Thanks! I signed up the two younger boys for free and then went ahead and bought the family package for the adults, as well! I hope it works out.

Wow! I would be really irritated about that! I just purchased the adult package and will not be happy if that happens to us. Since no one would respond to your complaint, maybe you should "friend" them on FB (they have a link) and when you get there post your story under the comments section. If it's made public, those in charge of the program may say something to the bowling alleys that are pulling these stunts.

I almost didn't bother to check this because in the past nothing was available in my area . . . but I see that quite a few places have been added since last year! Yippee!

This is our first year doing this and I am so excited! My son just turned 3 so we will see how he does with it! Thanks for posting the link so I can see all locations!

Thanks for the info! One of the bowling alleys here has the ages 18 and under, so check that info for each bowling alley for those who have older teens. Also, the dates are a little different. One bowling alley starts the free bowling near the end of April, while another one doesn't start until June 1st.

You can sign up at more than one location. You just need to use different email addresses.

Sorry if this was said as I didn't read the whole thread - we did this last summer and you can also set it up for the adults in the family to bowl the two games a day for a total of $25 for the summer (not per person!)

Edited to add: Sorry some of you had problems with the adult package. I'll have to see if that becomes a problem for us. DH has off on Fridays in the summer and will probably take them sometimes as well. We bought our own shoes last year because we were tired of paying for shoe rentals...DH, DS and I now wear our own. DD doesn't bowl yet (she's turning 2.5) but I'll try her out on it this summer. There are several alleys within 15 minutes of us that participate. Yay!

How fun! Kinda makes me wish my kids were little again.

Nah, not really. :lmao:

The one nearest us doesn't start until JULY 5th! Yikes...summer is more than half over by then! Oh, well, if we only have to pay the price of shoes, I guess even going once or twice will be fun. They sure aren't going to get me to buy the adult pass, though! I would if the offer started in May...but not when it doesn't start until July!

Thanks for sharing. I signed the whole family up. DD has really enjoyed the last couple of times we went. Will be some good post nap activities on Sat or Sunday, or even during the week especially when daddy is traveling.

malibuconlee, glad to see your DD enjoys bowling because we are going to try my DD out on it this summer and she will be 2 and 1/2 next Sunday...she is very aware of what's going on and wants to do everything her big brother does, so I think she'll love it!

Definitely take her! One game is about the right amount for mine tho. Short attention span and all! The first time was when family came to visit. We got two lanes and put her cousin on one lane with her, then 4 adults on the next lane. It was work getting her to take turns! LOL But she's an only and I bet that kind of stuff is easier to grasp when you have older brothers!

Just as a note because she is so little....different bowling alleys do it differently with their shoes. I've seen them bowl in socks. The one here has them use their street shoes after they brush the bottoms clean. Says it's less slippery and protects their toes more if they drop the ball. So make sure you take tennies with you for her when you go!
