Kidney Stone Question

Poor DH gets Kidney stones, and he has one (well actually 5 in total) right now. He was in pain earlier this week and went to get it checked out. The one that is moving is 6 milimeters (i think that is correct, the milimeters part) well anyway it may not make it out on its own. He is in and out of pain but so far its not to bad (Monday was the worst)

So he is set for the underwater treatment that will breakup the stone..he has never had this before (they have all passed on their own) We are going Friday and my question (sorry for the long version getting here) what is it like what is the recovery? Please advise.

As getting stones is the norm for me I carrie PERC. on all my trips now .If he is getting the sonic it will just be a little pain for a day or so and maybe a bruise.
As long as it breaks very good they will pass with no problem but if there is still bigger peices then he might get the pain from them moving.
If he can handle the regular pain then this will be a breeze for him.
