Our costumes are pretty mellow but they'll be cute enough; functional and comfortable. I thought about getting decked out but I know my crew and they'll be griping after a half hour in full gear.

I'm going to have to look into in. I always see it next to my check out button but always bypass it. I love Amazon!

Did you get all gussied up today? Ha ha get it ;)

Can't wait to see them!

I love Amazon too.

I relaxed today, attempting to heal my back. Tomorrow, it's pedi and hair. Once I get home, I'll finally pack. :lmao:

They are so adorable! I'm not a huge accessories person but that I would make great use of! :thumbsup2 I wonder if they ever go on sale?
not that I've ever seen but one can always hope! LOL.

You lost 20 lb before your trip? Brava! :woohoo: It's so much harder as we age, don't you think? How was Vero? And the cruise? Can't wait to read all about it.

It is harder as we age, for me I've had some ongoing issues that have kept me from much of the physical activity I used to do and combine that with last years Alaska cruise and by the time we got back it was UGH! I've been in PT, and seeing various other docs since Oct to try to get back to the activities I want and am still not there which drives me nuts. It is amazing to me how much weight I can actually hide, I lost almost 20 and honestly only 3 people noticed. My husband, one co worker and one sister. And my sister only noticed as I was in workout clothes!

The sad part is how easy it is to put back on and I actually managed to work out a bit on the trip but still. Stop counting calories for 12 days and at a certain point, it adds up. Needless to say I hit the gym hard yesterday and really hope to get some workouts in this weekend despite it being a work conference. We will see. I did really well the first half of the trip but the cruise and then 2 days of dining plan had me falling off the wagon a little. By AKV the bikini didn't feel as good as it did at the beginning of the trip. :lmao: So now I have to lose it again to be able to handle food and wine. :rotfl2:

Flame Tree does have huge portions and some of the best BBQ chicken around. :thumbsup2 We always share there. Three meals fed the 5 of us last time and we still threw some out. Of course that was three years ago. Gabby appetite has increased SO much. Chloe and Joshua still eat like birds.

No one in my family eats like a bird and they are thin and fit, but Evan and I could have, and should have, shared a chicken. We tend to have light or non existent breakfasts, mediums sized lunches and rather large dinners but don't snack at all. For lunch, they were huge portions, for dinner we'd have probably eaten it all. Eric ate all his ribs, Kendall and Jeff their sandwiches but that chicken was ginormous. And GOOD!

I'd put it in the WDW section or DVC section even though it was mostly cruise right? I always forget about the cruise section here. Link me here when you decide. It sounds amazing and relaxing with only one park day! I'd love to do that sometime. For now I've put my DCL dream to rest. DH is traveling so much with this Africa thing that it's nearly impossible to plan anything.

Actually it was 4 nights WDW, 4 nights cruise and 3 nights Vero. I'm leaning towards the WDW section.

We are at AoA for one night, THV for five, and then Kidani for five. We have a 2 bedroom at Kidani. There are 6 of us. At this point, I'll take only the pros please as I can't change. :lmao: Any insight with where we should request for the best animal viewing? We won't have a car either which seems to be a big deciding factor for those staying at Kidani.

We were originally at Kidani, the only reason I moved to Jambo was b/c we downgraded to standard view and at Kidani that could well mean a parking lot view which I was not ok with. LOVE the pool at Kidani and Evan gave the slide a 10. I didn't do all the slides at each resort so I can't really compare it but I can tell you, it's a great slide! We liked the Kidani pool better for sure. Opinions seemed to be split on best location for animal viewing at Kidani but honestly it seems all savanna views are pretty darn good and they do a good job of trying to move the animals around which was fascinating. I'll show it on the TR but it will be a while before I get to that, probably not before your trip!

I can tell you that of the 3 DVC resorts we stayed at, for the kids, AKV won hands down. They all absolutely fell in love with it. The animals, the decor, all of it. You'll have to let me know though if Kidani has crazy heavy doors. They were so heavy and loud it was the oddest thing, like they were solid wood. Not sure if that's a Jambo only thing to to them being converted rooms but that was probably our one issue (and only Jeff and I noticed lol). The bathroom layout at Jambo was weird too, Kidani will be much better. The walk is nothing if you ask me, between the two, so you'll be able to do plenty at Jambo if you want. I think for us, given that it was 2 nights and such limited time there and no cooking for that part of the trip, Jambo was actually a better fit but for a longer trip, with cooking, I really want Kidani. The Mara really does have some of the best counter service anywhere on property, no about about that!

I am so jealous! Even of the cats. :rotfl: Now I'm going to have to trek 90 minutes south for some.

Do you have a pic of your bag anywhere? One of these days I'll splurge and buy myself one. Kirkland is Costco right? Mine are similar. He got them at Ross. :thumbsup2

I haven't seen it yet. I'll go look in the DL section. I have a feeling I'm going to be uber envious again! ;) :goodvibes Seriously, the Disney events you get to experience are amazing!

So a mini trip update......DH might have to change his flight and meet up with us on the 18th and miss some days of the trip due to work constraints. If he flew early enough, he'd still be able to make some of MNSSHP though.

Obviously this is not optimum and not something we'd choose but life is life. He'd miss all but one night at SSR and he's the main reason we're staying there. With only 5 of us, I could ditch the THV, and go for a 1 bedroom but I think the kids would kill me. Someone, anyone, tell me to just stick with the plan.....it's a good plan. A well thought out plan. I must stick with it!

I wasn't planning on wrangling 4 kids on my own. I might need to attend a Mixology event or two. :rotfl2:

i don't know where picture of my purse a located. I'll make sure to post one on the TR. Yes Kirkland is Costco... and you can find my link to my report in my PTR so you don't have to go searching....

I would still stay at the THV. You grew up down here in the So Cal area, but I grew up in Nor Cal near the redwoods and had major culture shock when I came here. The amount of cement everywhere drove me nuts! I think your family will really enjoy the nature of the THV even if your DH can't be there for the first few days.

Heading to the pool but I'll be back to reply. Hope you're all having a lovely Saturday! :goodvibes

:goofy: 63 days!!! :goofy:

I hope you are having fun at the pool!!! I can't believe how close your trip is already only 63 days. I know it will go by so fast. Have you started packing yet? Stay with your plans, but I do feel bad that your dh is missing out on the THV as it is him that wanted to stay there in the first place.

We had a similar situation happen to us 2 years ago. It's why I have a Disney Dooney bag. :lmao:
2 weeks before our trip Tom announced that he had to go to Dallas for a mandatory training session. The day before our trip. So I flew with a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and a 2 year old from an airport which is 90 minutes from our house (and I'd never been there) and he met us later at Disney. We left our house at 10am and arrive at BCV at 8pm. It was a LONG day. The kids were really very good, considering it was such a long day. And I was rewarded with my Dooney. So it worked out ok. :lmao: I know I could totally do it again if I had to. And even spend a few days at Disney with the kids.
I wouldn't switch the room type at this point. I think the kids will love THV.

Amanda

Well you're there and loving AoA from all of your FB posts! I'm so glad you love it and can't wait to hear all about it! Aren't you glad you changed from POR? POR is good but I just knew AoA would rock!

not that I've ever seen but one can always hope! LOL.

I had this very fabulous, well thought out post, and my iPad flashed! There aren't words to describe how this first world issue gets on my nerves. Anyway.......I found your trip report and I will follow faithfully. If you give me a little nudging like in the form of a PM when you update, that would be great. I'm keeping up with Amanda's and Alison's reports so yours makes 3. I try to limit myself or I'll never get off the DIS.

I feel you on the bikini not feeling right. I promised myself I could iPad for an hour this morning but at 8:30, in about 29 minutes, I've got to go run. I've been eating like a mad woman and not moving. Moving is key for me.

How long will you be in PT for? What is your injury? :goodvibes 20 lb is amazing! :woohoo: You always look great in your FB pics so I didn't know you even had 20 to lose.

Your trip sounds fabulous and I cannot wait for the details. Sounds like you had so many new experiences and really got to relax and vacation! :woohoo:

Thank you for the AKV info. I wouldn't accept a parking lot view either. :scared: We loved Jambo but I went with Kidani for the extra bathroom and SV. I hear it's just amazing. Oh and the pool, we love the pool! We won't need a CS really if I plan our groceries right. I'm actually thinking of buying groceries with Jenna for just the THV portion and then getting a delivery for the AKV portion. I mean, how long do bananas really last? I think it's too much to try to shop for the entire 10 nights/11 days. With 6 of us, I'm not sure that our fridge will hold that much. I'm also sure we'll either run out of things or things will go a little stale like bread and fruit.

i don't know where picture of my purse a located. I'll make sure to post one on the TR. Yes Kirkland is Costco... and you can find my link to my report in my PTR so you don't have to go searching....

We are sticking with the THV. He's not sure he's going to have to follow behind so I'm going to pretend he'll be there the entire time until I see it on paper. He's got so much work stuff going on. Besides our side business, his real firefighting job has him busy. It's Fire Prevention Night in early October and MDA starts soon. I don't think people get how hard these these guys work. Hopefully he won't have to cut it short!

I saw pics in your report of the D&B bags. :lovestruc They're ridiculously darling.

Did you book your F&W events? I found your D23 report and have been reading though I haven't posted. But I will!

I hope you are having fun at the pool!!! I can't believe how close your trip is already only 63 days. I know it will go by so fast. Have you started packing yet? Stay with your plans, but I do feel bad that your dh is missing out on the THV as it is him that wanted to stay there in the first place.

Thank you, it was very nice even though my kids decided not to go. :rotfl2: I met my friend with her kids. Mine were too tired from the past week of school clothes shopping with DH. I swear, if I didn't birth them, I'd think the were someone else's. You couldn't pay me to sit inside on a beautiful summer day. I know winter is right around the corner so I soak up as much of this beauty as I can before it's cold. My insight is better than theirs. :lmao:

I haven't started packing and won't for a while. I've got to research October weather after I figure out this whole F&W thing. DH now just wants to doa. Mixology Deminar and play it more by ear. I was thinking the Italy Beer Pairing looks fun but he's really not wanting me to plan a whole lot in terms of F&W. He said its our first and we've already got so much to see and do and taste that's new, that the extras really aren't necessary. He makes a very valid point. I tend to overplay and then we don't follow half of it.

We had a similar situation happen to us 2 years ago. It's why I have a Disney Dooney bag. :lmao:

For a D&B bag, it might be worth him staying back. :rotfl: :thumbsup2 that is a long day with three little ones. You earned that bag!

We're going to keep the THV. If he has to stay back, it will be so last minute that changing would be a night mare. My Disney thinking got the best of me for a minute. I know we'll love the THV. He's trying his hardest to just keep the plan by trying to shift trade some at the FD. We've got so much going on that he's burning through his vacation leave which makes him antsy. An antsy hubby is no bueno. Between the Africa gig and his motor home stuff and now some potential independent medic stuff, it's a true juggling act.

:donald: 62 days!!! :donald:

Heading to our friends for a BBQ and swim. Happy Sunday friends. :goodvibes

We'll be watching the closing ceremonies tonight, anyone else? The girls are freaking because One Direction is performing. :hyper: Looks like we'll be DVRing too.

I booked the Mixology seminar on 10/23. I haven't heard of either alcohol (Cherry Heering or Xante) :rotfl2: but it will be super fun and we'll get a cheap buzz before our dinner that night at Via Napoli. :thumbsup2

The girls have their YES class that morning so it will be a jam packed last day. :woohoo:

Nothing wrong with a good Mixology class. Especially if you get to sample the goods! :rotfl2:

Amanda

Apparently you get 3 different cocktails. From what I've read, they're like almost full sized cocktails. :scared1: I'll be one of those tipsy people at Epcot. Oh the horror. :smokin: ;)

I just Googled both and they look good! As long as they aren't Gin, I'm fine. I can drink almost anything but Gin. Tequila doesn't agree with me much anymore but I cannot stomach the taste of Gin.

I so hear you there (on the technology and on thread count lol!) I thought I'd responded to your potential resort switch conundrum and voila...it's not there.

I feel you on the bikini not feeling right. I promised myself I could iPad for an hour this morning but at 8:30, in about 29 minutes, I've got to go run. I've been eating like a mad woman and not moving. Moving is key for me.

it's both for me, diet and exercise. One without the other just doesn't do it any more. getting old sucks. I need to be good for the next 2 months so I can survive food and wine!

How long will you be in PT for? What is your injury? :goodvibes 20 lb is amazing! :woohoo: You always look great in your FB pics so I didn't know you even had 20 to lose.

Oh it hides itself well enough, no one noticed but Jeff really. Pretty scary if you ask me that you can hide that much but oh well. It definitely goes to certain spots, not all of them bad. LOL! PT, not sure. Regressed a bit on the trip so we will see. It's a neck injury, landed wrong skiing a decade ago...

Thank you for the AKV info. I wouldn't accept a parking lot view either. :scared: We loved Jambo but I went with Kidani for the extra bathroom and SV. I hear it's just amazing. We wanted a 2B Kidani SV, then a 1 b Kidani SV but the reality is by doing the !B standard at Jambo, we saved a lot of cash being spent elsewhere so it was the right call. And for 2 nights it was good to be at Jambo. Longer stay and I'd definitely want Kidani! The pool is just killer. You will want to do 2 grocery trips for sure and delivery for the 2nd works well. You may not go through as much as you think you will, or run out when you don't think you will. LOL, we had both happen. I've done garden grocer in the past and tried out personal disney shopper this time, she was fabulous! Can't say I really saved money but I was much happier with what I got and the service was incredible. GG had good service too, and they do deliver beer and wine so....pro's and cons both ways. I will say, the store at Jambo has WAY more stuff than OKW or Vero did, not sure about Kidani but it was a decent selection at Jambo.

I'm glad that you didn't change. Hopefully even if he does have to arrive separate, it's just a day or 2 and not the whole first part.

Did you book your F&W events? I found your D23 report and have been reading though I haven't posted. But I will!

I'm looking at a couple of the food seminars, none of the wine or mixology jumped out at me.

I wanted to do the Italy Food and Beer pairing but Michael really wants me to plan very little. We also just found out his buddy and his family will be coming up or down from Miami from the 19-21 but staying at the Marriott. They're super cool. Their kids are quite a bit younger though. I'm not going to change any ADRs or plans though. I've worked on this for well forever and I really like what our itinerary. They arrive on our water park day. They are total non planners. Like total.

Which seminars are you looking at?

I hear ya on the eating and exercising. I vowed to be resume my good habits starting yesterday and I've walked and done yoga both days. My stomach is in the process of shrinking back so it'll be a hungry few days. The first week is always the hardest. But you're right, we've got 60 days until we're stuffing our pie holes with deliciousness at the F&W Festival. Still thinking of meeting up the 18th? Let me know if something changes.

Your neck? Scary and ouch! :goodvibes

If Mi joins us later he will miss all but one of our THV days. I don't think he'll need to but it's always a possibility. He leaves for Africa early Sept and then has an A&F job the third week of Sept. He has to shift trade as much as he can to not burn through all of his leave. Such is life. It's all good. It will pay off. It is paying off. It just takes some getting used to him traveling and because I'm such a planner, it's virtually impossible to plan far out anymore. I'm so glad I booked WDW when I did.

I'm so glad we went with Kidani. That extra bathroom alone will be worth it. I think a 2 bedroom and the THV will be roomy with only 6 of us. I'm looking forward to trying the Mara too. We only had soup to go last time we stayed there. I didn't even go down to see it.

Do you have a link or number for the grocer you used? I wasn't overly impressed with GG last time. We need booze but we'll get all of that on the first run. We're going to the store with Jenna on our first full day. We're sending the boys. The thought of going off property to go grocery shopping makes my head hurt. Laundry? Great! Scrambling an egg? No problem! Running a vaccum? You betcha! Grocery shopping? Hell no! :rotfl2:

I'm loving your report! :thumbsup2

You're lucky your weight goes to your ****s. Mine doesn't at all. Michael warned me when I was losing weight not to lose anymore. I didn't listen and the last 5 lb came straight from my chest. I miss my girls. They were pretty fantastic in their day. If I could guarantee the weight would go there, I'd gain 5 lb in a minute but no such luck.

That should be interesting, total non planners. Hopefully you can hook up on water park day, that's a good one for non planners. Or dinner at the villa maybe.

mine is completely stretched out from the cruise, it's in shock at the moment. LOL! I'm looking at one in Mexico about chicken and another one with irish butter and pork.

LOVE the Mara. We liked it so much, we ate there twice! And bought wine there!:love: so so yummy. I would have loved a 2nd bathroom, I only have 2 issues with the Jambo 1b. The bathroom layout is wierd. While technically a split, the toilet is inside the main room so if anyone is in the shower the whole thing is out of commission. For 2 nights though, not an issue. The other things is the doors are heavy and loud, all of them! What is up with that? You'll have to let me know if Kidani's is the same. Still, the kids liked it the best of the 3 by a lot though honestly we liked them all. Kendall liked Vero because it had turtle tiles in the kitchen backsplash. LOL!

Do you have a link or number for the grocer you used? I wasn't overly impressed with GG last time. We need booze but we'll get all of that on the first run. I can FB email you her FB page and her email or PM you the email here. There is another service with a similar name but they are NOT the same. She was the bomb. One woman, with a new baby, very personalized shopping. It allowed me to get the brands and sizes I wanted without feeling constrained by what GG offered. While I didn't save $$ I did get a little more quantity wise for the money and quite a bit more quality wise, especially in the area of deli meat, cheese and bread. I'll be using her in Oct even though we won't be getting much. It was great for this trip, all I needed up having to pack was coffee filters and the salmon rub!

We did hit the store in Vero, I only ordered enough perishables for OKW but we made some tweaks and as a result had stuff to take with us so the Vero stop was pretty minimal...though then we ran out of a few things as we were too lazy to go again. It was kind of funny. Thankfully I'd packed an insulated tote so at least we were able to take it with us and not worry about it spoiling on the drive as that included a lunch stop.

I'm loving your report! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Departure day is next and it was interesting to say the least.

Well it doesn't go just there. Luckily I didn't lose the girls entirely with the loss, they just got to a more managable size. LOL! It's the stomach that takes a beating but honestly I think more than the weight the rich food just does a number on my IBS (TMI I know) so regardless of what the scale says, I feel bloated like crazy! That's the part I can't wait to go away. I was very good the first half of the trip so it didn't really hit me till the very end. Now I just need it to clear up. A couple of weeks of solid workouts and counting calories ought to take care of most of it.

LOL!

IBS? I'm sorry. Our friend lives with that and has a heck of time controlling it. He said rich foods kill his stomach. Hopefully that blaoted feeling will Remedy quickly. I'm sure you'll drop the weight if your counting those calories and exercising. Right now probably isn't the best time to tell you I had McDonald's fries today! What in the h e l l is wrong with me? We're going to Bear Lake Sunday for a few days and I'll be living in a biki in. To top it off our friends are joining us and the wife of the family just got new girls. I should be living on celery right now.

I do remember Jambo doors being quite he pay, I'll report on Kidani's for sure. I'm always afraid that someone is going to slam their fingers in it. :scared1: I can't even imagine.

I am dying to read about your whole Vero part. I've heard it's amazing. Disney without the rush of Disney. :thumbsup2 Maybe we can get a little hint early? :rolleyes1

Thanks! I got the link. I emailed her on FB. I couldn't tell if she was Kelly or Elizabeth until I asked her. There was a thread ragging on Kelly last night for something, it got closed quickly.

What do you do for exercise? Gym or outdoors?

Ah well, I've had it since I was 20 so for the most part I know what to do. Hard part is when I get complacent and overdo it on certain foods. My intolerances seem to have changed a little as I get older and there is a lot I should avoid. I do know what I'm getting into if I make the choice to eat or drink it though. Last years cruise did me in for a good month. Learned a lot from that one!! Domino effect. Rich is part of it but there are other triggers and everyone is different. For me, dairy, whole grains, citrus and carbonated anything (including beer and bubbly) are ones to be really careful of. Basically it boils down to soluble versus insoluble fiber.

I can do most things in small doses if I am careful Except for the carbonated things.

Sadly, between my neck injury and me eye condition I have to stick to a lot of indoor exercise. Hiking is great but the bike wrecks my neck and eyes and I miss it! I do a lot of elliptical, free weights, ball work. So sad, we rented bikes at Vero. With the difference in humidity my eyes were fine and it was so much fun! Minute I got off the plane at home thy were on fire for 2 days. Guess we have to retire to FL. Lol

Saw something was going amuck with some shopper but I can say from personal experience she was the bomb! It sounded like Kelly L, who is who I used, was getting mixed up with someone else? And that the person was stealing her customers via FB. Not sure but the other service which is a very similar name (and a bad idea on both parties part if you ask me...neither should really use the world Disney lol) dies charge a higher fee. I'll use Kelly again, she was great. We go gets good reviews too but I've never tried them.

And lol of the fries. You were thinking yum! Fries foods are a trigger so that helps, as does myfitnesspal. Lol

Well you're there and loving AoA from all of your FB posts! I'm so glad you love it and can't wait to hear all about it! Aren't you glad you changed from POR? POR is good but I just knew AoA would rock!

So very glad I switched from POR. AoA is fantastic.
We're checking out of BCV today and heading to AKV-Kidani. BCV is amazing. We loved it here. I'm hoping we love AKV just as much.

I totally trust your experience with her. We've PMd on FB but I'm hoping we can move it to regualr email. I waste enough time of FB.

Do you wear contacts? I don't recall seeing you in glasses?

I saw your FB meeting on 18th at 1:30. That's our MNSSHP but that should work. I'm hoping I don't get too pushed for time. Our plan was to leave the THV by 3:00 to get to MNSHHP by 4:00. We're doing the tri tip that night with Jenna and her family so I'll keep ypu posted. Any other good times to meet up? Even if we have a drink of cup of coffee, I'm game. Not sure that late in the day will work for me.

Love the eliptical but need to do more free weights. I need to tone in the worst way. I could do cardio ALL day, it's the toning that I don't love.

I don't have IBS and carbonation, aside from a small or sip or two, irritates my acid reflux. I miss my soda but it was a blassing in disguise. Even the diet is so bad for us.

And lol of the fries. You were thinking yum! Fries foods are a trigger so that helps, as does myfitnesspal. Lol

I have myfitnesspal too. When I forst started using it, I was shocked by the amount of calories I was taking in. :faint: It's the little things like salad dressing and sunflower seeds that add up for me. I could live without a sweet for the rest of my life but keep sunflower seeds off my salad? I'd rather lob off an arm. :rotfl:

So very glad I switched from POR. AoA is fantastic.

:thumbsup2 I am so glad you loved AoA. I loved your pics and just liked your check in FB status! AKV is amazing! I cannot wait to hear about your trip. :hyper: Have a wonderful time. I can't belive how fast it's going by. Has the split been a pita?
