Oh! If you do a 3 or 4 day cruise, just keep in mind when touring on your own. If you are late back to the ship, the ship leaves without you. We saw this happen twice. Felt so bad for the people because they were soooooo close to boarding.

Some people rent a room at the Atlantis resort to have full access to the pool and a room for showering and changing. If you consider this, make sure you allow enough time to head back to the ship. The roads often get very congested around departure time, with traffic tie ups.

There is plenty of things to do on the ship if you don't go on any excursions. You won't get bored!

We love Castaway Cay!! It would be great if the boat docked THERE for a week!

My son's 2nd grade teacher told us about a "secret" probably not so secret anymore, area of the ship with lounge chairs. They would get an inside cabin and use that area to relax and enjoy the boat. I think Deb Wills talks about that area on her site. Have you checked out her info about the cruise yet?

Is Deb Willis All Ears? i haven't but I love that site.

Each time we entered the boat, they tried to send us to topsiders to eat lunch. It's a madhouse up there that first day. Plus remaining seating was usually outdoors with zillions of people passing by looking for seating. I'm too prissy, give me indoors and airconditioning, and no insects flying around!! We'd go against the flow and head to parrot cay for a nice relaxing lunch. They even had some old familiars there for lunch, strawberry soup like at 1900 Park Fare! Mostly it was the same foods on buffet that they had upstairs, so either way, you aren't missing out on any goodies. It's just based on atmosphere and dining preference.

Can you eat wherever you want? What about room service? Is it 24/7 and can you order anything? What about the dinner seatings?

Are there other resorts to chill at? My head is spinning from all of the info. :hyper:

With only 3 days I doubt we'd do any excursions. We'd probably just beach it, especially after just doing 7-8 nights at WDW.

I am sure CC is amazing. :cloud9:

Yes, allearsnet.com. Check out all the cruise stuff there. Tons of info! Be sure to check out Navigators and menus.

Back when we went you had an assigned dining time and an assigned dining room. Not sure if that's changed or not.

The family we met who missed the boat, had to get flown to the next destination at their expense.

On our last vacation we had Anakin in tow as an infant. So we didn't do any excursions.

Her site is so great! Wish the DCL trip reports were more current though. I saw the menus and found Navigators but there wasn't anything to click. :confused3

Today, the kids honked "When You Wish Upon a Star" on our boat. :cloud9:

I cannot even imagine how much that cost that family. :scared:

Anakin. Very cute.

Oh my gosh!! Double digits tomorrow for Disneyland!!

I know!!! I'm totally freaking out. :hyper: Now Michael thinks we should fly which is fine and I'm looking for flights. And then we need a car for the part prior to Disneyland.

How are you? How was your Friday night?

We were on the lake all day yesterday then went to dinner at this really old, really cool, fried chicken restaurant last night. It was a perfect Friday. Today holds all of the things I've been slacking on; dog grooers, grocery shopping, cleaning, weeding, etc.... Michael has a pretty bad cold. We were going to do dinner and a movie tonight but I'm thinking we may just stay home and have left overs.

How about you, what have you got planned?

:donald: 90 days until DVC reservation!!! :donald:

:mickeyjum 99 days until Disneyland!!! :mickeyjum

:tink: 240 days until ADRs!!! :tink:

:goofy:427 days until WDW!!!:goofy:

And I may be adding a little Disney Cruise countdown.

I told Michael that today was the single digit dance and I think I received the biggest eye roll yet to date.

How are you? :goodvibes

I am good so busy though. I can't wait until things slow down but I don't think that will happen until the middle of September. Today is the first day I have had to just hang at home for most of the day, in, I can't even remember how long. I should be cleaning but I woke up with a headache that is threatening to turn into a migrane so I am just relaxing.

:( I hope you're feeling better soon.

When do you start with Lexi?

We start Monday. I feel a bout of depression coming on. We're cleaning and all that day today so we can hit the pool tomorrow and it pains me so. I seriously dislike BTS. I know it sounds insane and most parents love it but it means the end of summer for us and we are such water/sun people. Hate the cold, snow, blah.

I am feeling better thank you. I won't start with Lexi until the end of September this year because my in-laws are coming and I don't want to have school for one week and then stop so I will just start when they leave. I know you love to have your kids home with you. I think that if Lexi went off to school I would be like you. I too hate the cold and love the sun and water.

We don't have much planned. We went and bought some school supplies. Kacy has a Saturday lab so there isn't much we can do on Saturdays this semester.

That freedom to start when you want would be amazing. I'm just afraid we'd never start. Sounds funny considering I truly value education. I just think cutting a summer short, when kids should be outside especially in a place like this where it gets so cold is insane. I think we should get less time off for the winter holidays and use the time towards summer vacation.

They are sitting here watching movies and I just dont get it. It's 90* out. I keep coming in and out. A little weeding, a little DISing.

Glad you are feeling better. :goodvibes

School on Saturday? Ew. What's the benefit?

Michael is sick. I'm going stir crazy. Kids are watching movies. I want to go on the boat. I'm thinking if I whine enough I can stop school from coming just like the Grinch.

Well, I think it is because her Physics professor is an actual Physicist. He class is even a night class. At least with the lab she can leace as soon as they are done.

It's tough when the summer ends when you work. I hope Michael feels better and maybe tomorrow you can go out on the boat.

Ew is right! I would not like my kids going to school on a Saturday. My son is taking a college course on a Monday night and my husband's schedule just changed that he has off every Monday. I guess it's ok because we can still do 3 night weekends and not have to worry about getting home early.

The little guy had the opportunity to enroll in a art, drama, and music school on Fridays, but we are not considering it this year, because I like to run too much and not be tied down.

Anakin will be starting lesson 27, he did some half days of school over summer. DS17 started his curriculum Monday. I told him we leave for a long weekend at Disney Aug 26, so he needs to plan his work accordingly if he doesn't want to do it there. We have to be back home in the afternoon so he can get his stuff ready for his night class. It's his senior year, so he has to be finished with everything early to get his grades in on time for his diploma.

That's cool. When I was in grad school, almost all of my professors were actual therapists/LCSWs/PhDs too. It sure makes a difference learning from someone who has actual life experience. :thumbsup2

It stinks actually.

Michael is back at the FD tomorrow so no boat. We've got to have 2 adults until Gabby learns how to drive in reverse. :rotfl:

Does your son live at home while attending college or is he younger and taking a course for college credit?

That sounds fun though.

Nevermind question about your DS above; I see he's 17. Have you always homeschooled? It's would be such a better fit for our lifestyle.

I need to catch up! Are you considering a cruise before or after WDW?

 I am loving your WDW pics. When is the big meet with DM and Jenna? I haven't met DM but you'll love Jenna and her hubby Nate.

If we do it, it would be after but honestly, there is so much to research. Not sure I can handle planning a and prepping for Chloe's bat mitzvah and a Disney Cruise. Plus it's a very $$$ adventure and using points would put me in the red for years.

2010-2011 was our first year homeschooling. The oldest has been in a private school all his life. He was going to a Classical School that is based on a trivium of grammar, dialectic, rhetoric. There was a huge emphasis on history and literature. He is a science and math person. It was a great experience for him, but he was ready for a change in focus.

Last year he did only homeschooling. This year he is homeschooling and dual enrolling in college.

I really did my research. There are so many curriculums out there, I wanted to find the perfect fit. If you ever consider it for your family, I'd suggest going to a state homeschooling convention. There is one for Florida every year on Memorial Day weekend at Gaylord Palms.

It's been nice to have tuition go from $15,000 a year to $349.50 for the 17 year old and $907 for the DVD school for the 7 year old. College classes are free for dual enrollment! We just have to buy books. But if we didn't use an umbrella school, the books would be free for college too!

People complain about Florida's education system, but they have some really wonderful programs in place too.
