We are driving. We are renting a Dodge Avenger to drive down. I am not one to like being there without a car.

That's a good idea. Less wear and tear on your vehicle. :thumbsup2 Did you get a good deal? I don't remember rental cars being so expensive.

They did? Which building? I am so leaning towards Jambo. I want alive and vibrant. I want a CS. I want a decent store. I can live without a 3rd bathroom. The Dream is club level but it's full as of now. I don't see anyone giving that up. I need to decide my waitlist strategy. :hyper: Any ideas? :confused3 Ideally we'll do 5 nights at SSR and then 6 AKV CL. I would hate to miss out on CL because only 5 nights came through, ya know? But you can have only 2 active waitlists. Guess maybe I'll book the 2 bedroom SV for the last 6 nights and then have a waitlist for CL for 5 and 6 nights each.

It doesn't say which buyilding It's 11 2 bedroom villas, doesn't say if dedicated or lock off

So funny, I'm the opposite. We rarely do CS at the resorts so I don't much care about that and I love the extra space and bathroom. Prefer the quiet to alive. CL would be SO cool! I would totally give up the bathroom for that. Maybe. :rotfl:

What? :faint: They stole your kids' clothes? Were they recovered? Who does that? I would be livid. Did you report it?

I would have been so upset. I'm pissed just reading it. :goodvibes

That really is smart thievery. Too bad all that brain power couldn't be harnessed into something legal. What did Disney do/say?

:headache: That's total garbage! We shop at the same places.

I probably spent 3-4 hours in total on the phone with Disney. At WL, at YC, with housekeeping, with security, with their insurance investigation people. In ALL scenarios I got the VERY strong sense that

1. No one believed me
2. No one was really going to investigate SQUAT

I received a letter from Disney basically saying tough luck, we aren't doing squat for you. Which is what I'd expected as legally, you do travel at your own risk and anything in your room is at risk as a result. But still, it was Disney, I hoped for better.

It's just gross, when we finally figured out that

1) all were items the kids had worn during the trip (and I have pictures to prove it)
2) all items, according to each kid, had been put in the hamper
3) not one single item was viewed while we were actually doing laundry

it was like EEEW! Who does that? But I do have to appreciate how stinkin smart it was.

Thankfully everything stolen had been purchased on sale, I won't pay full price at those stores and have conditioned the in laws and my folks to do the same. Still, it was a chunk of change and Kendall and Evan basically were hosed on shorts for the rest of the summer as I wasn't going to buy new ones that late in the season.

That sounds really fun. :thumbsup2 How long is the drive?

It's about 3.5 hours to our lunch stop and then another hour on day one.
1 hour drive day 2
4 hour drive day 3 with a mid way stop
2.5 hour drive day 4

It's a big loop.

11 is a lot. :woohoo: I think I'm requesting a lock off if CL isn't available. If CL is available then I don't care.

We don't do a lot of CS but I want one for the kids. They really enjoyed their freedom at GCV so I'd like them to be able to run down and grab something if they want. Plus Jambo has a lounge where Kidani doesn't. Again, after our last GCV we became super spoiled. The extra bathroom would be nice but DH and I will have our own. The kids can battle over theirs.

The whole thing stinks from the way it happened to Disney's response. I am so thoroughly disappointed in Disney. :sad1:

I don't pay full price either thankfully. I cannot imagine digging through someone's dirty laundry. Sad and desperate.

That's not bad at all. Is the whole family going?

Our drive to AZ will be about 12 hours. Gabby will have her permit so I'll have a co pilot. :faint:

It's wasn't a bad deal. I rented it for a week and it is $182 all together.

From Gussy's mouth to G-d's ears. If Tebow can ask for touchdowns, I think I can ask for club level. :thumbsup2

How's the trip planning. Change resorts again? :flower3:

Exactly! I still say DVC should add more CL villas at AKV.

No resort changes for now. I'm pretty happy with the BCV-AKV-BLT split. I love that we'll be near at least one of the parks at each resort. I love convenience!

Tomorrow is my ADR day and I haven't hammered that out yet. Since the weather is pretty yucky today, I'm going to work on that. My brother, mother, and I decided on Shula's for my dad and uncle's 60th birthday dinner. We're going to do the character breakfast at Cape May during our BCV portion, Boma during our AKV portion, and Chef Mickey's when we're at BLT. Chef Mickey's food is not great at all, but my nephews love the characters. It's become a tradition. Oh and I'm definitely booking a before park opening breakfast at Crystal Palace.

How is your trip planning coming along?

I totally agree. It would be more money for them! I want it so bad I can taste it! :hyper:

Your set up is pretty sweet, I wouldn't be messing with it either. :thumbsup2

Did you call? What did you decide and get? popcorn:: It's so exciting. I love this part of trip planning and enjoy everyone's details.

How is your trip planning coming along?

Good. Michael agreed to the triple split of it meant we get AKV CL for a few nights. So as of now, we'll know more in 32 days, we'd do a triple split between SSR, AKV CL, and AKV. If by some chance the DVC G-DS were feeling generous and I could score 4 nights club level then it may be an SSR/THV/AKV CL split. :wizard:

I knew a triple split was in your future! I hope you get CL for the nights you want and don't have to give up THV.

I'm making ADRs tomorrow and spending this snowy/rainy Saturday trying to figure out all of the details. I need to look at park hours as well.

Are you renting a car for part of your stay to shop? Or just ordering from GG?

that's a good point, guess I'm not thinking of the kids. They do like to run down. Oh well. :rotfl:

It really did suck to be honest

Just the E's. K and T have school on the Tuesday, the E's get that whole week off.

I need to figure out how to set up the wait list with MS without f-ing up the whole thing. In a perfect world my trip would end up: SSR 3, THV 4, and AKV CL 4.

I'm here if you want to bounce your dining ideas off someone. Heading to the gym in a bit and then soccer but I plan to spend as much time here today as possible. :cloud9:

Jenna is going to take us to the grocery store. We were going to rent a car and go the night we arrive but she offered to take us so we'll send the boys with a shopping list. She and I will need time to catch up while I unpack. Kids can head to the pool. :woohoo:

I agree. I would like the last option best. I'm holding little hope for AKV CL but weirder things have happened. :wizard:

Is it a pain for their Spring Breaks not to match up? What about the other holiday vacations, do their day match?

That would be an amazing split. I hope you get your wish!

I'm working on my ADR list now. I'll post it as soon as I have more filled in.

Oh that's perfect! You'll save $$$ not having to rent. Since we rent a car, we usually order some things from GG and drive to Target. We attempted to try Goodings, which is close to DTD, but the place was vile. The produce was HORRIBLE. Publix isn't bad either. I love Fairway, Stew Leonard's, and Whole Foods. I need to see if there's a WF in the Orlando area.

Yes, keep me updated on your list! And then on what you get. :wizard:

M loves WF. Publix looks good. They have a decent bakery from what I've read. I want to order Chloe a congrats cake or cupcakes for her bat mitzvah. M is very picky about his meat and produce.

I will!

Since he's picky about meat and produce, stay FAR AWAY from Goodings. It was the worst supermarket ever. How many meals are you planning on cooking in the villa?

As of now were doing tri tips for our family and Jenna's one night (hopefully a THV night), burgers, pasta, and chicken. Mind you though it's a production when M cooks so it's not like we'll be throwing back dry chicken breasts and Rice a Roni. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

That will definitely save you $$$. And sometimes a break from Disney food is necessary. We usually try to make breakfast in the villa. Not sure about dinner this trip.

Total pain. Xmas, thanksgiving and summer line up for the most part which means vacations are in the summer if at all. Soccer complicates things

Soccer definitely complicates things. :headache: Between you and I and few thousands DISers, I am hoping this is the last year for Gabby. Utah soccer dynamics are so strange and back stabby. I've never seen anything like it. I'm not sure if it's like this everywhere but you couldn't find a loyal bone in the whole bunch. I'm very unimpressed with the nature of it. It may be that by nature I am not competitive but I've even seen at the AYSOS level. Of course I can't tell her that and as long as she wants to play, we'll continue to support her.

We are headed towards the summer/holiday only vacation after this October trip I fear.

Other than desserts, I'm sure there is nothing on Disney property that DH couldn't cook. :thumbsup2 Of course he doesn't want to spend out vacation in the kitchen though. Cooking is more for a break from Disney food and a chance to use the fabulous ammenitites we pay for. :woohoo:

How's your list coming? popcorn:: Are you working around potential park days/hours?

The list is coming along. I have park hours in front of me. Since I love to book a before park opening breakfast at Crystal Palace, I need to make sure it's not an EMH day.

So far this is my list:

Cape May- breakfast for 5
Crystal Palace- breakfast
Boma - dinner for 8
1900 Park Fare- dinner and possibly a breakfast for 10
Shula's - dinner for 10
