Kidcot Stops

When we were at Epcot a couple years ago, the kids did the kidcot stops at World Showcase. Looking on a recent map of Epcot, I see there are a few stops in Future World - what do they involve - are they tied into the World Showcase stops, and do the WS stops still do the masks or has that changed?

My kids went to a couple of the kid stops in Future World. They got a chord with a pass on the end which they attached various card items to like the do on the mask. In the building where they do Turtle Talk I know they got to colour in a dolphin and have a chat with the lady there. It's pretty much the same as World Showcase. Must admit my kids like these stops and it keeps them interested on the walk around the World.

Can anyone give me and estimate of how long each stop takes? I'm trying to figure out how much time to 'budget' for World Showcase. We've been to WDW plenty of times, but we've never done the Kidcot stops. My DD will be four when we go again in October and I think she'll enjoy making the mask. I'm sure time varies with each child, but I have no clue how long to allow. Is 10 minutes enough? 15 minutes? TIA

The stops usually take pretty much as long as you're willing to stand there. ;) We haven't done the Future World stops yet, but have done it several times in the World Showcase, and I usually give my kids about 5 minutes to decorate their mask at each one, not including whatever time it takes standing in line to get the CM to stamp it and attach the hangy-thingie (do these have a name other than "hangy-thingie?") to it.

When we went every country had a mask available if that is where you decide to start. I was hoping it had changed from the mask.... We have quite a few masks already. I used to love when they all had a country specific kind of activity. My favorite was in France- they had tiny easles and the kids all got to paint. Then they hung their pictures up to dry on the bridge(in that sun it didn't take long) And you had such a cute memory! My kids still talk about that and it was about 6 years ago.

Yes they still do the masks and there is a place in every country to color/decorate them. They put a tag on and stamp at each different country. My kids really enjoyed this. We did them this past November. They are hung on their bedroom walls at home.

Where do you pick up the mask at?

Each country has a supply of masks, as far as I know. We got ours in our first stop at the World showcase, but saw them at all the stops. DD loved stopping and getting a "charm" on her mask representing that country. As far as time goes, you can stay anywhere from a minute to an hour. At some stops, we interacted with CMs more and they were more willing to talk about where they are from etc.

We also purchased the Epcot passport and all the CMs at each country wrote in it. That along with mask activity took as a while at each stop. But I didn't mind, since DD enjoyed it so much.

Take your time and let your kids do crafts and have fun. Epcot is more about cultures and less about the rides. If you run short on time, skip a few stations and just look at the buildings and shows.

How old is too old to do the kidcot thing? I have daughters 15 and 4 and a son 12, are the big ones too old? Is there an age limit, or is it just a matter of personal preference? Thanks

When went in Dec. most of the kids were around 10 and under that really got into the mask. But, some older kids had the passports or just books that the cm from each country could write a message in their native language and sign. Your older ones may enjoy that.

My Ds 6 really got into this last trip! In Future World, he got something at Living Seas, Test Track, and I think One other place.

He also enjoyed the WS passport and getting the message/signatures of people from the countries! I think your (PP) older ones might like that better than the masks.
