Hi,
We will be staying at Kidani in a 2 BR savannah view room in two weeks . My question is: is there a floor that you prefer to stay on? Lower rooms vs higher rooms? Just wondering whether it is worth requesting a specific floor/ level.

Thanks!
Kim

I just returned from a stay at Kidani and we were on the 4th floor - there was a discernible difference from the view at the community hall on the 2nd floor, which we were almost directly above. From the 2nd floor view you could definitely see the animals closer.

That being said, if I ever stayed at Kidani again, I would make one room request only - close to elevators. We transferred over from BLT and I had developed a bad case of vasculitis in my legs and feet and wanted to limit my walking....got about halfway to my originally assigned room; turned around and went back to the check-in desk and BEGGED for something closer to the lobby. Of course, I never could have guessed this would be an issue when I booked Kidani, so I was very grateful that they were able to move me. But with or without mobility issues, I don't think I'd want to deal with walking to a room at the end of either wing. Especially when you consider the walk from the lobby to the pool is already a pretty long one.

Lower level for sure. This last visit we were almost at the end of the wing and though it was a very long walk to the lobby it was the best savannah view we've had so far. The animals were right outside our balcony the whole trip. We were close to an exit to the walkway to Jambo and that was very nice/handy as well.

I vote lower level. We were there in June, our room was on the 3rd floor. My DSIL's room was on the 2nd both had great views. We asked for a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

The only time I really noticed the long hallway was after coming back from the parks. The rest of the time they didn't seem so bad.

As to the long hallways, I understand where quirty30 is coming from, I've had "Disney Rash" (as the local hospital has nicknamed it) and walking is torture. BTW, quirty30 I believe the resorts often have a wheelchair you can use while there. The ER doc insisted I use a wheelchair for the rest of our stay. We rented one at the parks but that meant lots of pain when walking at the resort. Found out from concierge that they usually keep some on hand at the resort for guests to use for free.

We were on the main floor and it was perfect!! And we were close to lobby and the rec room. No elevators to deal with!!

We were 2nd floor closer to the elevators (can't remember the room number). It was excellent! We were right by one of the Giraffe feeding area, so awesome!

most of resorts do have some wheelchairs that can be borrowed, but there is no guarantee they will have one or what condition it will be in
Posters who have borrowed one from a resort in the past have often mentioned that the one they got was not in good condition.

If you find you need one while at WDW, you can rent in the parks like is post did. You can also ask Concierge to arrange a rental from one of the off-site rental places. If you have Internet access, you can go the the disABILITIES Board and look in post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread to get contact information for local off-site rental places recommended by DIS posters.

Another vote for lobby level. It's nice to not have to use the elevator or stairs. We have been fortunate enough to be close to the center of the resort on both of our stays, so I have not yet experienced the long walks to the ends of the necklace.

My room requests for our stay at Kidani last month were:

1. Rooms close to each other (traveling with family)
2. Rooms close to lobby
3. Lower level floor

Our rooms were relatively close to each other, and we had the first room off the elevator. However, we were on the 5th floor. I thought the view was great! No, I didn't have a giraffe licking at my window, but we could see everything on the savannah and the kids loved looking across to see what animals were out.

I think the more important request is close to the lobby. The views are different from each floor, but I wouldn't say one is better than the other.

We were on the second floor in the 2nd to last bead and had a great view. There were feeding stations near our rooms so we were able to see giraffes and zebras pretty close all the time.
