Kidani Dreams - An April 6-15 PTR -Name Tags!!-Updated 3/28

We are 12 days away from leaving for our trip. To pass the time, I decided to make some T-shirts for pirate night on the Dream. Matching t-shirts. Yep. That will be us. Matchy-matchy. We did this for MNSSHP last October and I thought they were cute, so I thought we would do them again.

I let DS choose the design because he is the one most likely to squawk about having to wear matching t-shirts. He liked his Magnet design, so that is what he picked.

So to make these is very easy. You just go to the craft store - I went to AC Moore - and buy some printable iron-on transfer paper for DARK clothing. If you use the stuff for light clothing, the color of the t-shirt shows through. And then I got everyone a black t-shirt. They sell these at AC Moore as well. They were about $4 or $5 so they are really inexpensive.

So you print them out on your printer. My printer had a photo transfer setting. I also set it on high quality. Piece of cake. Then you just heat up your iron and iron them on, following directions on the package of course.

Seriously, it takes less than a minute. Fun, right ??

DD wanted a t-shirt with Rapunzel on it and I had an extra t-shirt from a while ago, so I made one for her.

She will wear her pirate one with the rest of us, but this is a fun little extra for her.

12 more days !!!

Love the shirts! That's such a cute idea, I think it's cute when families are matchy-matchy, especially when the kids are still young. Very nice!

Thanks Marissa !! It was a fun little project. Very easy and inexpensive. And it didn't take too long either.

Lovin' the t-shirts! Now you need to put something on the back like Killer Cranes or have everyone pick a pirate name and put that on the back. Fun!

So we leave on Thursday, and I am have a small crisis. And by crisis I mean an aggravating bump in the road that I have worked up into a full on situation so I have something to think about for the next few days. The crowd level for MK has bumped up since I last checked it a week or two ago. It has gone from "holy crap where did all these people come from" to "I'm close enough to the guy next to me that we are probably considered married in several states." Granted my choice of MK day was not ideal, but it worked best accommodation and dining wise. Now I just am not willing to deal with the crowd at MK.

So I'm in crisis as to whether to move my HDDR reservation to Fri. our new MK day, or leave it as Sat. which will now be AK. If I leave as Sat. our AK day could be cut short. Plus I'd either have to drive over there, or stop at Pop first, check in, and take the bus. Further cutting our AK day short. Of course if I move it, then leaving mid-day doesn't seem really practical. Which makes for a loongg day. Sigh. Sorry for hijacking, but I knew you'd understand my dilema. ;)

Your shirts look really cute!!! :goodvibes

Just an FYI, and I'm sure you know this already, the iron-on transfers don't do well stored in direct sunlight (that may just be for the light-colored shirt transfers, maybe not for the dark-colored shirt ones). I learned that one during a college move-in day! (The shirt I had just made was sitting at the top of the clothing pile in the backseat of the car :headache:)

OMG ..... I'm feeling a little ADD after reading this. Just be there at rope drop. Get as much as you can done in the AM. Swim in the afternoon and then go back at night. This worked great for us during Thanksgiving.

With kids in middle school we just have to deal with the crowds. You know how it is. I don't care about the crowds. We are smart enough to plan around it. Remember, I fell in love with WDW during Spring Break when MK was closed three days due to capacity. Go, be smart, adjust .... and enjoy ..... I hate that we will miss you.

I have noticed that the light colored ones don't last as long, but the dark transfers (which I used) really stand the test of time. I made several tshirts with the dark transfer stuff in 2010 and I wash them a lot because the kids like them and wear them a good bit. And it isn't that expensive at all ... maybe six dollars a shirt, that it makes it worth it to me. Thanks for your advice, though.

I just love the t-shirts...very cute.

Thanks Kathy !!! I discovered that DH's T-shirt may be a little off center. But hopefully, no on else will notice. We are our own worse critics for sure.

Why are you insisting on using common sense with me?! Join me in my need to create drama to fill the final few days before we leave won't you? :rotfl:
I really detest driving to MK. Cest la vie though. We have been during Spring Break before, but back then the school's Spring Break was at the last week of March. Not quite as crowded as the week before or after Easter.

Let me tell you, DD was hanging her head when I told her RD was non-negotiable. I think it better that I not tell her in some cases that means being at the park before 8:00. LOl! She can sleep in when we get back.

We will miss you too! You need to come in June. :)

There's no drama at Disney !!! Sease and desist all drama creation. And tell your DD it will be much more fun if you get there early.

Why do you hate driving to MK??

We are working DH for June, but he's not warming up to it.

The pirate shirts turned out great! We are also a matchy-matchy family while in Disney. Makes it easier to spot each other in the crowd and of course makes for good scrapbooking photos.

I will be sure to look for you at 50's Prime Time since our ADR's are within 5 minutes of each other. 13 days until the cruise! :cool1:

Hi Cher !!!

Thanks. The decal on DH's shirt is slightly off center. I hope is isn't too noticeable. We do the matching thing on occasion. I agree that is makes it easier to find everyone. And it makes for better photos.

Yes !! Please do come over and say hello. I will be looking out for you as well. Yes, 13 days !! Sooooooo excited !!!! :cool1::banana::dance3::cheer2:

9 days until we leave !! Being at Disney will make those last 4 days so much more bearable !!

So someone on our cruise Facebook page mentioned something about tags on Fish Extender gifts. You know, tags saying who the gifts are actually from ??? Yeah, that so never crossed my mind. But since it has crossed my mind now, I felt compelled to make some. So here is what they look like.

I have a hole punch that I will use to punch a hole in the corner to attach to my little gift baggies.

And besides packing ..... this all I have left to do. Besides wait .... 8 more days ........

I have to agree about driving to MK...it's a nightmare! First you have to drive to TTC. Park your car. Wait for a tram. Then take the tram to the Monorail or Boat Launch. Wait some more. Finally get on Monorail. Then get to MK.

If you take the bus, it leaves you right in front! No hassle.

Well .... when you put it that way ..... we have always driven to the parks since we always gave our car with us. Except for when we stayed at WL and Boardwalk. We might try the bus this time. You just hear so many people moaning about the bus. I wonder how late the busses run after AK closes. We have a 7pm ressie at Yak and Yeti and the park closes at 8 that day .....

Hi... I'm embarassed to admit I haven't read the whole PTR (just the first and last pages), but I wanted to share our home-made tee shirts. They were so fun to make, we wore them on our first Disney cruise (June 2011) and they are being recycled for this next cruise (with you!) I loved being able to spot my family/friends across a crowd during sail-away!

That's DH (left), DD, my mom, and me. This cruise it's just DH, DD and me. Look for our tie-dye selves at the DIS meet!

DH in the middle of my BFF and her mom

DD, DMIL, Minnie, DFIL

I found the how-to on these boards, of course.

I also made this one, with a standard light tee shirt transfer... I made my mom wear it to MK on her birthday!

and one more, custom jammies for DD!

Looking forward to meeting you and your family!

~Melissa, Tim & Trinity

ok, finally caught up on the whole PTR... I feel much more official now!

We'll be at Epcot on Saturday too, we have dinner reservations at the buffet in Germany. I lived in Germany as a kid (yes I'm an Army brat) and I LOVE German food!

I'm sure we'll just bump into you at Epcot and say "hi" (ha!)... otherwise we'll see you on board the Dream... Vista Cafe, 3pm! :coffee:

Sunday we're doing Hollywood Studios... my DD is a total Pixar fanatic - she would rather watch any of the Toy Story movies, Cars 2, Mater's Tall Tales, or Monster's Inc any day over Rapunzel or Beauty and the Beast. Highly irregular for a 5 year old girl, but whatever... anyway DH & I haven't been to HS since she was 6 months old, so I'm sure it's changed a ton!

Monday is Magic Kingdom... I just like to save that park for last. It's just classic.

And of course Tuesday... anchors away! pirate:

I can't believe how many crafts projects you've done for your cruise!! It practically takes all of my creative energy to make one pin! You're very impressive with all of your various endeavors! :thumbsup2

Yay 8 days left!!!!!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
