I can't decide if it is a better value to rent a car or not. We are staying at a two bedroom dvc rental at Kidani in August. I could rent a minivan for 7 days at a really good price ($288 in August for the week) so I can do quick shops to Costco (beer, wine, snacks...) and have quick transport to the parks/other resorts. Or should we have snacks and alcohol delivered?
Buying with a car at Costco, I can save about $100 on alcohol (we are not huge drinkers, but 2 drinks a night x 6 nights x 6 adults ends up being substantial savings - I can get a Prosecco I love for $6.99 a bottle, versus about $12.99 a bottle). We will also be going to other resorts to eat dinners, so resort to resort would be easier with a car.
I don't anticipate cooking much, but quick breakfasts in our place, as well as afternoon snacks would be great. I prefer not driving while there, because I think about "time off site" but I also am wondering about the resort-to-resort times. No matter how far, the calculators seem to double the time for the buses versus driving. In August my husband and I tend to go to parks early, hop to another park, come back to the room to rest/swim (or go to a water park for the afternoon), then go out to dinner on the late-ish side, then to whichever park is open late. We don't anticipate the other adults following our time schedule, except at dinner, when we will all eat together, but are considering a van because when we all go, we will need to seat 6 tall adults. Advice? Thanks!
