Staying at Kidani, which parks would you drive to vs. taking Disney busses? We will have group of 7-8, and our minivan (driving down from Carolinas in Jan.)

Take the bus to MK. If you drive, you will have to take either the monorail or ferry across to the park.

I would not drive from AKL to AK unless you wanted access to your vehicle. It literally is a 5 min bus ride that lets you out close to the gate.

My home resort is Kidani and I never drive to any of the parks. There are posted bus arrival times in the Kidani bus station that I have found very accurate. Unless the bus driver is driving especially slow (which I've had those pokey bus drivers before), it's only ever taken max, 15 minutes-ish to get to any of the parks from AKL. You wouldn't gain much in driving other than you can leave AKL when you want. You then would loose your parking spot at KV and may not get a great spot in the parks' parking lot.

If I did drive, Epcot/HS are the only parks that could be a slight advantage IMO. Others may disagree because some people think the wait times from AKL for a bus are long. I've had them long at any of the resorts I've stayed. I've also had good bus karma and got a bus within seconds of walking up to the stop. I think if you just build in 10 min wait times for any one bus, you shouldn't have to wait long for any park.

We own at Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom and AK bus service is MUCH MUCH better than what we get at BW.
We went to MK 3 times in September and the service both ways was good. Max wait times were 15 minutes and we timed the trip at about the same.

We have had great luck/success with the bus transportation at Kidani - it is the 1st pick up so you will get a seat on the way to the park every time. We have never waited over 15 minutes for a bus in the past 3 years (before that it was not that good). I would not use the car for any of the parks, but if you do it would only be advisable for Epcot or HS. I love leaving my car in the parking spot and letting someone else drive.

when I stayed at Kidani, I was pleased with the bus service. To me, it's all about predictability.

We also just take all the park buses when we stay at AKV. That's not necessarily true of other resorts but we think the bus service from there is about the best on property.

We stayed at Kidani this past January and found the bus service to all parks to be excellent...much better than the shared bus between GF/Contemporary/Poly.
