Kicking off a summer of healthy living - June W.I.S.H Thread

Totally forgot this was my week... sorry about that.

My motivation this week is to do a better job getting thru the three in-office days. I'm really going to try and catch the 4p ferry instead of the 5p ferry, and then finish out at home, which should help.

I am taking the opportunity to rest and hopefully improve. Graduation is on Wednesday, and I have so much to do. At least we're on a half day schedule for the next 7 days of school, so I only have to deal with the kids in the mornings. I will be able to get more things done.

My summer part time job is really making me jump through hoops. I expected the background check, even though I have been fingerprinted multiple times because of being a teacher. You can never be too safe. The amount of paperwork I have to fill out is endless, and it's all in these separate emails managed by different staff and agencies. But, I have to provide them with my most recent physical. I'm sorry, but that feels like a violation of privacy to me. If I can teach kindergarten, I will be physically able to supervise K-2 in an inner city summer camp setting...which is basically a school setting. Part of me feels like taking a stand and telling them, "never mind," but I need this job for multiple reasons. I went into My Chart online, and all of the information is there, but not in the format of a traditional hardcopy physical. So, I will have to go pick up a copy from my doctor's office and drop it off with the Boys & Girls Club. I'm definitely not getting paid well, but I didn't expect to be paid what I deserve. I hope all of this is worth it in the end.
I understand about the physical. I worked at a daycare for 9 years. Here in Ohio it is a state regulation that all employees have to have physicals on file and they are only good for a few years before you need another one. It also had to be on their special form, not just something from the doctor. If state came in and checked files (this was done at least once a year unannounced) and even just one was out of date (it could be just by a day) or someone didn't have one then we got dinged for it. This would then get put on the state website for any perspective parent to see that we were out of compliance. It was such a pain. It was the same for the kids too but there physicals were only good for a year. I was the Assistant Director and was incharge of the kids files for about 300 kids. This was what I did most days if I wasn't in a class because of being short staffed. I loved my job and loved the kids but I am so glad I got a new job after having kids.

Good Morning! We had a great weekend. DD had orientation for college on Saturday. DS's last year (at a different school) was so much better. We all just sat around most of the day. DD's group was all honor students and one was in pre-med. They all seemed to really get along with each other. She even ditched me to hang out with the group at lunch. They have a chat set up so they can talk with each other too. I am so glad. I could see DD just going to school and coming home and not really doing the whole college experience. I think she had a good start now.

Sunday DH and I took a trip up to Frankenmuth, Michigan. DH's boss told him about this town not long ago so we were spontaneous and and took the trip. It is only 3-4 hours away and we stayed the night. It is a German Christmas town. The town buildings all look German too. They have a Christmas store that took us 2 hours to walk through and we didn't even see all of it. It was a really cute little town in Michigan.
