Somehow I don't think the real name will clear the filters. :lmao:

My son and I just returned from seeing the 10pm show and it was great! Now, it is not for children. Under no circumstances make the mistake of taking anyone who isn't in their early teens and mature. It is violent and bloody at times but only as needed in the movie. It is about vigilante crime fighters who are really interesting characters. I just loved the attention to detail they made making each character well rounded and lovable. Yeah, lovable killers. NOT a kid movie.

I'm an old lady and rarely laugh at movies but I was :lmao: several times at these characters.

The critics haven't been kind to this movie but who cares. It isn't something you have seen before and I don't think many movie makers would have been brave enough to make it. There were a few dressed up people in the audience who were having a mock sword fight in the parking lot. I tried to get a photo but the camera on my phone stinks. Those kids were having a fun time and so did we. Let me know what you think of it when you go. Do go and just take it for what it is intended.

I'll be checking it out tonight. I'm a comic book fan, and from what I've read, the movie remains very true to Mark Millar's book. For that reason I'm going to be watching the public's reaction closely as I have a feeling some parents may not know what they're in for. Definately not a movie for kids ... but this is the type of superhero flick I've been waiting for. Millar is already working on the sequel book 'Balls to the Wall', so hopefully that'll get the movie treatment also.

Millar's next book to be translated to a movie looks to be 'War Heroes'. It's got the same twisted humor and satire of 'Kick-*ss', but applies it to a superpowered US Military vs a superpowered Iran/Afghanistan.

I hope you enjoy it. I think the ending was made to lead into a sequel.

I just saw it tonight too! Me 40 and my friend 43 LOL, we got some pretty strange looks from all the young men in the theater when us "old" ladies walked in LOL! I think we laughed harder than they did though, I loved it! Great movie!! I said "I smell sequel" at the end too.
My son, going to be 17 next month was all "you saw what?" when I got home LOL. He said he thought it looked good, then he asked if he could see it. I told him I'd get back to him. He's seen District 9, that was pretty nasty too.

I did get to catch it last night, and it was a thing of beauty! Probably one of the most accurate translations from comic to screen, along with Sin City. I guess what sets Kick-*ss apart though, is that it takes place in a 'real world'. In a twisted way, Millar and Vaughn created a world where you could really see this happening. I'm almost afraid to watch for any copy-cats on YouTube. And Nic Cage is coolest I've seen him since Leaving Las Vegas.

This was always supposed to be a trilogy of books from the beginning, so I hope it crushes at the box-office. Bring on the sequels!

It does look funny- I do wish they'd have named it something different thouh. The neighbor kid (8 yr. old...who will get to see it, because his parents obviosly don't care WHAT he sees) came over to our house yesterday and asked if my girls could play "kick_____" and I got after him. He couldn't understand why. hmmmm.

Then, my girls saw the commercial last night and started saying " Hey, wanted to play kick ______ with us just today!"

And they play the commercial for it at all times of the day- I even saw it in the middle of a show that was made for 'families'...which made me mad. Play it all they want for adult shows or after a certain time of the day- but not in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday for a show that's made for families.

I, myself, would like to watch it when it comes out on DVD- but I really still HATE the name!

Yay, I'm SO glad to hear that. I haven't seen it yet, but I've read the comics and have been pretty nervous about it being made into a movie.. so I'm glad to hear it stays on par with the comics. :goodvibes Between this movie and a tv series of "The Walking Dead" starting this year, I'm in comic book heaven. :yay: and yes, I think that is the dorkiest thing I've ever said on the DIS. haha.

Think about it. You post on a Disney message board, and you're worried about saying something dorky???? :lmao:

I saw it last night. I'm 44 and hubby is 47.

We liked it. Thought it was good BUT it could have been so much better without all the vulgarity and gore, but especially the vulgarity. It was a bit over the top for our taste. We were cringing quite a bit.

I don't want nor need to see a 10 year old say some of the things she said. :sad2: Otherwise, she stole the whole movie.

It is absolutely NOT for kids.

Watched it last night with DH (we are 41 and 37). We loved it and we are not into comic books so didn't know about the book or anything.

As we were walking out of the theatre, I turned to DH and said, when we go to MNSSHP this year I want to dress up as Hit Girl  Yup, I'm a dork and don't care :rotfl:

I was so impressed with that little lady. The best part was the purple hair and the pink weapon belt. I half expected to see a ninja barbie sticking out of her pocket. :lmao:

She was awesome! Let's just hope all the Hit Girl costumes for Halloween are not for little girls.
I should add that we are not comic book fans, and had no knowledge of the story before we saw it either, and still thought it was fantastic. I'd actually love to see it again. Maybe I'll take DS, since DH reminded me in 3 weeks he'll be old enough to buy his own ticket.

OMG I just saw this the other day. It's a guilty pleasure. I really enjoyed it but almost feel ashamed because I found the vulgarity so funny. I think I was so shocked at what I was seeing/hearing that I couldn't stop laughing. Obviously I haven't/hadn't read the book before so I didn't know what I was getting. Good fun anyway. I want to see it again, but don't tell anybody.

So glad to find some comic book dorks on here! I haven't seen Kick-*ss yet, but I plan on it. A friend of mine described it as "Kill Bill meets Batman". I'm so there on that description alone!

That is how DF has described it to me. He wants to see it this weekend, but I'm not so sure I want to. :confused3

I saw it over the weekend. I didn't even know it was based on a comic book. I haven't read comics since the old Swamp Thing series and Crisis on Infinite Earths (yeah, I'm over the hill). I took my kid (I try to feed him a steady diet of macabre violence) He loved it. Hit Girl was completely his type. My dilemma was that I generally try to avoid Nic Cage movies whenever possible. His ever changing hair pieces are disturbing to me. On the other hand, we always see any movies that McLovin is in. I ended up really enjoying the movie even with Mr. Cage in it. I would see a sequel, if they make one.

I feel the same about Nic Cage. He has gotten stranger and stranger over the past 10 years. This was the most "normal" part I have seen him in and he is a mass murderer. :lmao: *sigh* Maybe it's me?
