Key West excursions

Has anyone done a good excursion in Key West or would it be a good day to lay by the pool???

Take a walk of about 15 minutes down to the Southern most point in the USA and get some pictures. Stop at the Lighthouse on the way back......then buy some Cheap T-shirts.....and you have to have a piece of Key-Lime pie.....then back on the boat !!!

If you want to see a lot of the island and get some of the island history I recommend taking the trolley. Click here for into. It is cheaper than buying it through DCL (cheaper still if you purchase your tickets online beforehand). You can get on and off at different stops as well.

We did it on our first visit and I highly recommend it.

Definately hop the trolley if you have never been to key west. Gives you a good overview.

We like renting the golf carts and cruising around ourselves. We have lunch, drinks at some of the different bars and such. Lot's of fun.

Lots of good restaurants & bars within walking distance. They aren't wild during the day, so it's a good time to go.

WDWLVR.....did you order your tickets online? Did everything go okay? I was thinking of doing that but would LOVE to hear your experience. I want to take the trolley around and be able to get on and off when we want!

Hope - yes before our May '03 cruise I ordered them online and got an e-ticket print out (just like with the airlines). Showed that at the trolley booth and got our tickets in just a minute or two. Really painless.

We did a good excusion. Most call it bar hopping! Hog's Breath Saloon, Sloppy Joe's, and the original "Jimmy Buffet's!!!

Really this was the only port that I didn't plan out and schedule an excursion. We had a blast walking around, seeing the sites, and, of course, the "pubs" were fun too!

I'm going with my DS 10 and he is a huge Jimmy Buffet fan. Where is the original Jimmy Buffet's from the dock??

Get off the ship and head down Duval Street (the "main drag"). It's a couple of blocks down on the right. It is a blast....we love JB too!

Has anyone visited the aquarium or butterfly farm? Are they close to the trolley stops? I thought going to either one or both would be more interesting to two 6 year olds than just riding the trolley around.

I have mentioned many times in the past and also said there was no strings attached - I have numberous information on Key West - all it takes is a Large manilla envelope, self addressed and with about $3.50 worth of stamps on it - I will fill it up to the top with all kinds of goodies including maps etc, coupons and they will help you while in my hometown. You can mail it to The Perfect gift, 6550 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape canaveral, Fla 32920 - many will let you how much it helped them get around BEFORE they got to Key West.
Hope this will help also you do NOT need to get any pre-arrangments to get around Key West - everything you may want to do is RIGHT THERE where the ship will be at mallory square.

So are they "Golf" carts or electric vehicles? I looked around on the web and couldn't find any golf cart rental places, only electric vehicle rentals. Where do you get these golf carts?
