Key West Beaches

I hear alot that Key West doesn't have any good beaches etc...

Our local newspaper just recently had an article that Key West is in the top 10 for the best beaches. Anyone been to Key West for a vacation and has been to the beaches.

Hello Joanna,
If Key West beaches are in the top 10 for the best - somebody knows something I don't know - Hi this is Shirley - born and raised in Key West 68 years ago - Now the South Beach which is at the end of Duval Street - small and ucky - then you have what I have always called the new beach but it really is Clarence Higgs beach at the end of White Street - it has a playground for kids, benches to sit at and an "eatery' how good is the eatery - who knows since I have eaten there is a long time - it does have a pier that goes out quite a bit - that is where the locals go for swimming. Then there is a beach out on Roosevelt Blvd that goes forever - the beaches in Key West have never been good enough to hit any recommendations now maybe they are speaking about further up the Keys - like Badia Honda or in Marathon - I do have pamplets etc that I offer at no cost and no strings attached that will help you while in Key West - you can email me at snelsonbrown@aol.com

OOPS I FORGOT
Fort Taylor beach and Dry Tortogus - they do have nice beaches - Fort Taylor is off Whitehead Street and if I am not mistaken, it cost now to go in and the one at Dry Tortoagus is an hr away and can only be reached by boat.
Sorry I had forgotten about Fort Taylor.

Hi Shirley...I also thought it was strange that Key West made the top ten beaches. Is Fort Taylor Beach in close proximity to where you dock? About how far away. Thanks for the response.
