I took the comments as straight forward & to the point - as in the Epic is a 'uniquely' designed ship. If you google Norwegian Epic you will find many comments re the peek a "poo" bathroom door in the suites, disjointed hall corridors and the IKEA upside down ship design. None of these observations were made on the show, but all of these observations are generally known & found online from many sources.

I've never sailed on NCL but have close family who have had upsetting & terrible experiences on $ Baltic Cruises re confrontational staff/Captain experiences & run ins when passengers have met to ask officers about last minute port losses & officers have been rude, scathing & refused to speak with passengers. But I also have had neighbours who have loved their Caribbean cruises & have had nothing but good experiences & great food. Personally, the Epic is not my style or lay out of ship. I'm always on the search for great cruise experiences out of Canaveral. For me, Epic would never be my choice. For context, I have had a great experience out of Canaveral on an older & smaller Royal Caribbean ship. I had a poor experience with Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas. That poor experience was completely due to the crowds onboard, inability to dine in the included dining rooms & being turned away from pre-booked entertainment. Mega ships are on my once & done list. I will now save for small, intimate experiences such as Regent.

I love the four seasons hotels. But having tried the Rosewood in Washington has 49 rooms. And found the service more 'individualised' which I preferred. I just feel a cruise could not capture the intimacy of a hotel especially In mass market like Alaska even in concierge. But I could be over thinking. I just feel 12000 for concierge I could get a nice room at the George v for that smaller but it will actually have good service.. I even think regent et al would be too formal for me. Ie idiotic dress codes.

It certainly is more formal dining & reflects the older demographic onboard. It is the old style 'dressed' cruising vibe. Since so many cruise lines have opted for the resort casual approach to dining, it's a plus that there are lots of choices out there for everyone's comfort level & style.

For sure, I greatly prefer more casual dining, or eat all my meals in the buffet (ended up doing that on my 1 NCL cruise to NE/Canada) except for 1 meal in the Hibachi-style venue. Do NOT like to dress up!!

I initially read this as "eat all my meals in the buff".

That's what happened to Keven when he showed up for dinner wearing jeans and they informed him jeans were not permitted in the dining room ....
