One of Kerry's biggest concerns, as he stated last night, is nuclear proliferation and the acquirement of nuclear weapons in the hands of rogue nations and terrorists. At the same time, he plans to get rid of the bunker busting bombs. This means if needed we can go after any target that is a threat to us....providing that it is above ground. Again, this is Kerry promising to defend the country with one hand and disarming us with the other.

dawn he was talking about NUCLEAR bunker busting bombs.

dawn he was talking about NUCLEAR bunker busting bombs.

Again, why would we unilaterally disarm from our nuclear bunker busting bombs when rogue nations are arming?

he is not talking about throwing all of our nuclear weapons capability into the sea or something. he is talking about not developing NEW nuclear technologies.

Or any new defense technologies,

Or any new offensive technologies,

Or any new inteligence technologies.

Atleast here Kerry has stayed the course for 19 consistant years in the senate, voting against any defense appropriation bill, GI bill or above technology bill, that he actually attended the senate session for!

Its seems to me that bunker busting nuclear weapons are a good idea. It may be only effective way to disarm a rogue nation if we are under emminent attack. But then, Kerry has a history of disarming and voting against weapons systems. Luckily for us he was never Commander in Chief during the cold war.

don't you think he might have had a different perspective then?

Frankly no. Chris Dodd didn't, Ted Kennedy didn't and certainly Kerry wouldn't have.

What difference does that make, Caity?

It seems to me that the real issue is Kerry's statement shows his thinking is that our ability to develop and use nuclear weapons is somehow the moral equivalent of having these weapons in the hands of rogue regimes and terrorists.

Actually, I gotta disagree with DawnCt on this one.

Of course Kerry would have had a different prespective then.

He has a different prespective every 7.25 minutes!

Sheeesh!

But it would never be a perspective consistant with Ronald Reagan's view of the world. Ya gotta agree with me on that!

The whole point, is that in this day and age when we are trying to rid the world of nuclear weapons we should not be spending money on researching new ones. This would be one of those "mixed messages" that Bush kept bringing up last night.

That would be assuming a moral equivilancy between Iran, N. Korea and the United States where absolutely none exists. The clear message is, and will be under President Bush is that the United States will defend ourselves and our allies as necessary.
