Floral Consultation
I had my floral consultation with Rosie last night....she is fantastic! She was able to understand my vision completely, and it seems like I was on the right track...she seemed to love my ideas, although I did give her free reign to use her own expertise and creativity - I am NOT a flower expert!
Here's what we came up with:
Bridal Bouquet: Hot Pink/Orange Gerber Daisies with bright yellow roses. Stems tied in hot pink with yellow crossover ribbons, with hidden mickey pins.
MOH: Hot Pink/Orange Gerber Daisies, stems tied with hot pink with orange crossover ribbons w/1 hidden mickey pin, and 1 large orange gerber daisy hair floral.
Groom: 1 Large Orange Gerber Daisy bout w/1 hidden mickey pin
Bestie: 1 long stemmed bright orange Gerber Daisy with stem tied with hot pink with orange crossover ribbons w/1 hidden mickey pin, and 1 large orange gerber daisy hair floral.
Extras:
I also ordered 2 altar arrangements to "frame" the sand ceremony that I bought. We're doing square glass vases with sand in the bottoms, with pink/orange daisy combo.
I decided to splurge just a bit on floral and added in a bouquet for each of the front pews. These are going to be pink/orange/and yellow daisy bouquets, as Rosie thought bringing in some more yellow here would look great.
I am not doing any decor at the DP...I think it would be lost on most of my guests anyways, and by then I don't think even I would notice (I'm planning to be WOWed by the food!)
I'm also going to need a floral refresh for the MK photo shoot, as it's 3 days after the wedding...they practically will have to rebuild my bouquet!
My great debate of this week is the DVD of the photos from the MK shoot. I don't really think it'a worth doing the shoot without the DVD - I want those pics for my at-home reception...but OMG the price is astounding! Disney really has a way with getting large amounts of money for very monir details!! Whew! I have added it to my budget tentatively, and will cut if necessary.
At-Home Reception
We have a tentative plan for the at-home reception, which we are having in December...
The Plan
- Rent the bowling alley in our hometown for 4 hours (it's a fantastic place....kind of dingy but has a very retro feel to it!).
- Finger foods will be provided (self catered....my family and I are pros at this kind of thing) and a cake (I'll likely do my own version of a hidden mickey fondant creation - I'm pretty good with fondant).
- Approximately 100 people will be invited (maybe a few more), basically they can drop in at anytime in the 4 hours.
- Wedding photos will be played on a loop on a large projector screen so people can check them out - this is why I want the DVD of our MK shoot so badly!
- Wedding video will be played on projector screen at a set time (specified on the invite) so if they want to see that they can, they just have to be there at the right time.
- The rest of the time will be spend bowling, mingling, and eating!
"Budget Woes" Update
I'm also kind of stoked that I have been just picking away at paying for the stuff on my list....I've made good progress in the past month, and have just been trying to get one thing at a time taken care of...my list is almost down to only the biggest items...park tickets, dining plans, and flights...If I can get those off my list soon I'll feel REALLY great! I'm going to try to get the park tickets paid for within the next 3 weeks, so the only big things left are the other 2...WOOT!
