C’mon Disney! You’re killing me! My trip just keeps getting worse. This couldn’t have been done while the resort was closed? Or when it’s too cold to enjoy the pool?

Resort Refurbishment
Luna Park Pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort may look a little funny this fall as work takes place on the Keister Coaster waterslide. We expect the waterslide to be unavailable October 5 through October 30—though dates are subject to change. Work in the pool area will continue through November. Luna Park Pool, as well as 2 leisure pools at this Resort hotel, will remain open during this refurbishment.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing.

In the past when the waterslide was being refurbed they let you use SAB... hopefully they'll allow that now, especially after letting BCV use Luna Park pool while SAB was closed this summer.

That is what I want to know. May completely cancel my trip to the Yacht if this is happens, and yes they have done it in the past.

I sent an email to Member Services asking if BWV folks would have access to SAB during this time. I received the automated response of course and as my inquiry is very important they will try to get back to me within 21 days...

Totally agree! I was so ticked when I saw that.

It wouldn't have been as bad if they didn't drop the news less than 3 weeks prior to the planned rehab.
We are 15 days from arrival. I'm envisioning jackhammer noise in the background while I'm trying to get my zen on. I wonder if I cancelled now if they would grant me some special consideration on the points (banking vs holding).

What, I didn't read this right the1st time. My trip will be almost over by then, 21 days holy cow that is a very healthy Covid related delay. Must be nice to have the option to treat your customers like that.

That is a good point. I don't know. Part of me thinks they might, then with Covid, I don't know.

Does anyone know what the refurb will entail? Someone on another forum posted that the Clown was going away. Surely they would have announced it if it was something that dramatic???

Who knows? Some people have a real fear of clowns, I just think this one is tacky.

I like it - it seems to reduce some of the competition to stay there. :teeth:

Tear it down! :clown:

In that short time frame it can’t be much more than general maintenance and fresh paint.

I heard they are just "tweaking" the theme: a small "Welcome to Derry" sign, red balloons along the step, and the announcement, "You will float too" just before coming out IT's mouth.

Personally, we love the clown ❤

Heard back from DVC to my inquiry, glad it didn’t take 21 days to hear back. However, the response was no to SAB. They say that it is only the slide that will be unavailable and we still have access to 3 pools. Pool hopping is not available either.

Staying there 10/31-11/6 with a 12yo grand. We were hoping for a hop to SAB

I hear ya on doing pool refurbs when it's too cold for most to enjoy it. However, if you meant when the resort was closed due to the Covid-19 virus.... they were closed to prevent or mitigate person to person transmission. Working on refurbishments would put those workers, their families and their secondary contacts at risk. We're in a different place now while developing understanding of the virus, but when the resorts were initially closed- it was primarily for safety.

I’m wondering how much noise this will cause around the resort. We’re scheduled for 3 nights as part of a split stay in a standard room
