Keeping up with camera in parks

How do you manage your DSLR camera when visiting the parks? I'd like to be able to take pictures, but still be able to enjoy the rides, etc. I can think of rides like Space Mountain that may not be so enjoyable holding on to my camera, let alone protecting it from damage.

Do you carry your camera around all day?
Do you trust leaving it in a locker for part of the time?
Are there more protective cases for a camera than what it normally comes with?

As mentioned in another recent thread, cameras are built pretty tough, a little jostling on a ride isn't going to hurt most cameras. (dropping a camera or getting it soaking wet are the main dangers).

I carry most of my gear all day. Some I leave in the room depending on which park were going to.I keep my camera out on all the rides. The only one I put it in the bag is RNR.

What type of camera? A small point and shoot simply goes into my pocket!
A dSLR goes into a pretty standard camera bag.

As mentioned in another recent thread, cameras are built pretty tough, a little jostling on a ride isn't going to hurt most cameras. (dropping a camera or getting it soaking wet are the main dangers).

I carry my camera around all day with it attached to my black rapids strap.

When I go on rides I'll take pictures too. If I don't then I just hold it in my lap. I don't carry around a camera bag. For extra lenses I'll either use my pockets or a lens pouch that attaches to my belt.

WOW! I love that SM pics and how in the world do you do that ? I just always have a terrible feeling my camera is gonna go flying out of my hands and off my neck. I always take it on the rides with me but in the faster rides with big drops its in the bag. Would love to get pics like this..any secrets?

When I get into the rides I put my leg though the shoulder strap of the bag and the bag sits on the floor between my feet. My camera strap I wrap around my wrist a few time & hold tight! LOL

I usually carry a backpack with a light jacket in it... I just toss my camera in while not in use. When riding, I'll either leave my backpack with the wife, as she doesn't like "scary" rides, or put my backpack on the floor between my legs.

I've been traveling a lot lighter recently, just my 24-105 on my 5D3 (still kinda heavy), or now my 35 F2 IS, and 5D3 which is pretty compact and light, so it's not too cumbersome.

I have a comfy strap on my camera and keep it on me. I have a Lenscoat Bodybag for it to keep it from getting bashed around too badly. I also have insurance so I don't worry about it.

This is me too. Get yourself a comfy shoulder strap. Apparently Carryspeed no longer has a website, LOL, so check Black Rapid, and go! I keep my camera out on almost every ride. I also wear a backpack with my other gear, and the camera goes in there when I need to stow it away, which is rare.

Not the most protective method, but I stick mine in a regular backpack for the parks. I usually limit myself the extras - no extra flash during the day and 1-2 lenses also depending on the day.

When you mention insurance, is this a specific type of insurance you bought just for your camera, or is it part of your homeowner's policy?

Mine isn't on the homeowners policy, it's separate. But it's with the same company that carries my homeowners insurance. There are different types but mine is a policy that just covers my photography equipment (I have to list specifically what is on the policy) has a $100 deductible and covers all of my listed gear for personal use including damage I accidentally inflict on my gear. It costs less than $100 a year.

I use a Sling bag for my DSLR in the parks.
