Katie & Kevin's 12/8/12 Virginia Wedding & Disneymoon

So, I have a few minutes at work to do an update! We have made some major changes in our wedding plans and as a result I have bad news, good news, and great news.

The bad news: We will no longer be getting married on 12/12/12 OR at Disney.:sad2: As sad as that is, we are both much happier knowing we can share our wedding day with everyone instead of limiting it to just 18 guests. That factor alone was causing me a great deal of stress, but also when I added up everything I wanted for the Disney wedding (WP, upgraded cake & flowers, full reception dinner, dessert party, characters, MK&Epcot shoot, etc) the total just became too much! Our other considerations were the lack of flexibility, "missing out" on menu tastings and other traditional planning activities, and the difficulty of getting things to Florida since no one wanted to drive! :confused3

The good news is we will get to have a magical, Christmassy wedding at my favorite venue back home. Every time I saw facebook updates from this venue I had small pangs of regret and now those will go away! It is a really cool Civil-war era Chapel with a newly added-on wing for the reception. Lots of exposed beams and just a very pretty space in general. For now we are thinking evening wedding, cocktails & heavy hors d'oeuvres, dessert buffet (&cake), hot chocolate bar, Christmas tree gift "table" with favors(TBD) tied on as ornaments. I am really excited about it. The only drawback is that the date will now be 12/8/2012, but oh well.

The great news is we will still be going to Disney World that week for part 1 of our honeymoon. We are calling it part 1 because DF's (then DH's!) family will still be going with us. We really wanted to share the magic of Disney with them, especially our niece who has just been sooo ecstatic about the trip, so we are really glad they are all still going. We are especially looking forward to MVMCP & treating her to BBB. We will have honeymoon part 2 a few months later, either a cruise or a stay at an all-inclusive resort. Caribbean in February? Yes, Please! :rotfl:

When we were still planning the Disney wedding & the AHR, I came up with an idea to bring some of the Disney back to VA, and maybe some of you would like it too. As a fun activity for the AHR, we were going to order a ton of pins and do pin trading with park rules. Each guest would get to pick a pin out of a basket and trade with each other or the "cast members." The cast members (bride/groom/bridesmaids/groomsmen) would wear lanyards with more than one pin and would always have to trade with the guests when asked. Could be a cool way to get your guests mingling.

Anywho, just wanted to post a (not so) quick update on our wedding plans. If no one minds I think I will still use my PJ. I am still having a Disneymoon, afterall! :goodvibes

Katie, I'm sorry to hear that you are no longer getting married at Disney but I can definitely understand why!

I'm so glad you've found a great place back home-- it sounds very cool! I love hot chocolate bars.

A Disneymoon is awesome!! I think it's sweet you're taking your family with you. I'm sure they'll love it! Honeymoon part 2 sounds even better! Can't wait to hear what you decide!

I think incorporating a little bit of Disney into your day sounds just perfect!! Please keep up with your PJ and I'd love to read all your plans!
