About Us

Hi everyone.... Im Kathryn im 24 and my partner Jon is 28.
We have been together 8 and a half years and have lived together for 7 years.

I am a beautician and nail technician and Jon is a carpenter. We have a 6month old pug called Stanley... We will be very sad to leave him for 3 weeks when we go away for the wedding, but he will be very happy with my best friends mum and their wippet Bruce.

We live in Southampton, England and will be flying out to Orlando Friday 21st September 2012 for our dream wedding at WDW.
We are very lucky to have 45 close friends and family travelling out with us.

The Engagement!!!!

Jon bought my engagement ring when we were on holiday in the BVI's Novermber 2010. He then thought he would keep it a secret from me for almost a WHOLE year.... and then finally proposed August 2011.

Jon bless him is not very romantic at all.... We had been out clothes shopping one day, and when we returned home I was just relaxing in the lounge. He walked down the stairs and said 'Kathryn will you do me a favor?' I said 'what!!!' thinking he wanted me to make him a cup of tea or something and then he pulled out the ring box and said 'will you marry me' I was sooooo excited. I just threw the ring down and hugged him. It was everything I wanted. We had been together 8 years so it was about time!!!

We flew out to Orlando in September 2011 for our site visit... We visited the WP and Living seas, they were such beautiful locations we booked straight away. We also booked Uk lochside for out dessert party after the reception.

So her are the details:
Friday 21st September 2012 : Fly from London Gatwick to Orlando
Thursday 27th September 2012: WEDDING DAY!!!
2.30pm Ceremony @ The wedding pavilion
3.30pm onwards cocktail hour and reception at Living Seas
8.30pm Onwards Dessert Party @ UK lochside

We are out in Orlando for 3 weeks!!! I cant wait

So I am desperately trying to loose weight (still) so I am leaving it a little late to buy my wedding dress but I do have a few different designs in mind.
I have booked to go dress shopping with my mum on Monday 16th April this gives me about 6weeks to try and get a stone off.

My colour themes are Navy and Champagne (also gold and ivory accents)
I will proboly go for an ivory wedding dress.

Our wedding Planner is Carole Mikles.... Has any body else had Carole?
She seems to be fantastic so far... really quick at answering my emails, I am looking forward to meeting her at our planning session in April.

It will only be myself and my mum that fly to Orlando for the planning session... Jon is self employed so he has quite a few work commitments at the moment.

I am looking forward to it tho... Mum has yet to see the wedding pavilion or Franck's so it will be fun to show her.

Planning Trip schedual:
Thursday 19th April : Fly from London Gatwick to Orlando
Check into our hotel (hyatt grand cypress)
Shopping at downtown disney (stock up on disney bits for the kids flight bags)
Dinner @ Planet Hollywood.

Friday 20th April: Meet with Rev Tim Herring 8.30am
9am-1pm Planning session with Carol
2.30 - 4pm Menu tasting @ the grand floridian
6pm meet with the manager of the villa resort we are staying at. I am wanting to organise a welcome pool party for my guests.

Saturday 21st April: Islands of Adventure
and then in the evening get a manicure and pedicure .... can anybody recommend any places to go? This will be a trial for the wedding?

Dinner at the Cheesecake factory

Sunday 22nd April: Shopping @ Florida Mall
Fly Home

We have chosen Rev Tim Herring for the ceremony and Beaute Speciale for Hair and make up.

We decided not to take advantage of the room block through disney. As all our guest are travelling from the Uk it is more cost effective to book villas in Kissammee.... We have some people going for 1 week some for 2 and a few for 3 weeks.

I have found looking through disboards and using disneyweddingblog so helpful in gathering ideas for my wedding, I want to also help future and current brides by sharing my ideas.

I will complete a full trip report from my planning session in April as I think its really helpful to know what to expect from a planning session and I will also take lots of photo's of the grand floridan building work.... It is one thing we have been worried about, so when I see it at its current state in April hopefully by sharing photos and imformation with you all I can settle some worries

Where is a good place to have manicures and pedicures? I would like somewhere reasonbly priced to suit everybody? Preferably near the mall @ millenia so we can go straight there afterwards.

So here is the cake.....

I am wanting to have a large 'WOW' cake, each teir wrapped with the diamante ribbon in the picture below.

The cake will be topped with ivory roses like this one

I have a really unique idea for my favors, at first my thought went down the usual route, chocolate mickey mouse heads, personalized m&m's etc...
But what is most important to me and Jon was to spend the money on a donation to charity. Cancer Research UK, supply a pin badge for each individual donation. So on behalf of our wedding guests we are making a charitable donation, and in return presenting our guests with the charity bin badges at the favor, and something to keep.
These are what the badges look like

I will put them in these boxes (navy ribbons not green)

Cancer Research Uk is a fantastic charity and im sure is very close to many peoples hearts

We pretty much always stay on property except the occasional shopping trip so I can't really help there, I'm sure someone else can! I think it was Andrea that went and had mani/pedi's with her girls off-property (belle221), but I forget the name of the place. If it's her, it's in her PJ!

It was me who got my nails done off property, but its not by the mall of millenia. It's on Sand Lake Drive (which is closer than the mall. Why did you want a nail place closer to the mall?)

We got our nails done at You Salon. It was great! Since we had 10 people getting done, they brought in wine and cheese and fruit and it was like a little party! I go there all of the time just for my regular manicures too.

Let me know if your interested and I can give you their info. If you still want a place by the mall, let me know and I can find one for you. I won't have been there but since I live in near Disney, it's easy for me to find the name and info of one for you!

Hi! Sure, that's no problem! (just know that it's about 25 minutes from the Kissimmee area to the Millenia area via toll roads ) But here's a place that right near the Cheesecake Factory. I have no idea how good they are, but the place looks really nice!

I really love jewellery.... its the exciting bit for me!!!

I had a disaster 6 weeks ago and lost a diamond out of my engagement ring... I shouldnt really wear it to work as I am a beautician and nail technician. Im using lots of different products all the time. So I think a mixture of that and I knocked it really hard loosened one of the diamonds. So I sent it away to be repaired which took 5 weeks!!! but I can collect it today so im very happy I will start ti look at wedding rings as well i think
