Kate and Daniel's Laid-Back but Super Fabulous Escape- 08/15/11!!

I love everything you have planned for the wedding.
Don't worry about the rough patches, everyone has them. I'm sure people can confirm this, but the first couple of years after you get married (or move in together) are the most aggravating and frustrating than the rest. Things get better, trust me.
A little warning with August, it is busy and gets hot. I know, because we got married that month and go back on anniversaries. The dress you have chosen is perfect for it though :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more as things progress! Congrats!

Glad you came back to the boards! :)

Its sometimes hard to juggle life and disboards!!! lol

Any way... LOVE your dress! and the photos are TRES funny!

Hey everyone! Updates! Finally! We are now three months and 21 days away from THE day. So excited!

So, we booked our officiant. We're using Rev. Tim Herring. Neither of us is really religious at all so we're trying to figure out what we want for the ceremony. We're not. We're considering doing a hand fasting. It seems like a sweet tradition and I like the symbolism of the joining of hands, and that it all works into the words spoken during the ceremony. There's also a "ring warming" tradition I like where the rings are passed around by all the guests and each guest says a little prayer or blessing over the ring before it's passed up to the MOH and Best Man to give to us. So those are our thoughts so far. DF has been working on some vows (I wasn't supposed to find out but I did, oops). :rolleyes1

We also just found out who our planner is. Her name is Tanis. Has anyone worked with her? She sent us our planning kit but I haven't spoken with her at all yet. I'm trying to decide what I want for my flowers. I have seen bouquets made entirely of lavender which I really think is pretty.

I have no idea how expensive this would be or if Disney could do it. But I think it's super pretty.

I got my jewelry and my shoes last week too which I'm so excited about. I got this necklace on Etsy which I just love:
necklace.jpg

It has our initials stamped on a teeny little plate which you can't see too well in the picture. It has just the vintage-y vibe I was looking for. I also got my earrings and my shoes:

The shoes in this picture are gray- mine are green. I could not find a picture of them in green anywhere though.

And that's probably enough for now. I think we'll really be gearing up in the next two weeks and getting a lot done so hopefully I'll be a little better with the updates.

Hey Kate,

Love the florals in the picture! :) Are they the kind of bridesmaid dresses? Lovely! :)

The Shoes are fab! :) Earings are very vintage glam! ;) Nice work!

And the necklace is beautiful! :) I think all together they will look amazing!

I love the idea of passing the rings round the ceramony! :) Very personal touch! I watched it on '4 weddings US' and it really added something to the wedding! Maybe I will try and talk DF into it! lol

Good luck with the next too weeks!

Everything is definitely fabulous! Love the color scheme and garden/vintage with emphasis on butterflies feel... your dress is gorgeous and the necklace, earings and shoes should go very well with it. Can't wait to see everything else! :)

Hello from a fellow NC escape bride! We are just up the road in Asheville! :) I've enjoyed your PJ so far, and love all of your ideas. Can't wait to see it all come together.

We also have Tanis as our planner. Haven't talked to her yet, but FH has, and said she was super nice. I've also heard great things about her on the boards.

We are doing our wedding in October at SBP. So, shortly after you guys! I will be looking forward to new posts as we get closer to our big days!

Hi Kate! We all have rough patches here and there, what matters is that you get through them, you're a stronger couple than before and better people because of them :thumbsup2

Everything looks great so far..I LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress!!! I'd wear that for whatever :rotfl: perfect for an August Escape wedding. The jewelry will look awesome with it, that necklace is so pretty and your shoes are sweet. The lavender bouquets are a great idea, they're so different. I'm excited to see more popcorn::

hiya!:goodvibes

Congratulations on both the engagement and the PJ, I'll deffinately be subbing.

Love the pics of you both, you look such a happy couple :lovestruc

I adore that necklace - I want one now, its gorgeous.

We also have Tanis, I haven't really corresponded with her much, DF has and she usually gets back to us quickly.

Your dress, shoes and accesories will all look fab together.

Look forward to hearing more, happy planning. x

Thanks so much for the kind words! I really like the ring warming idea too... just as long as someone doesn't drop the rings through a crack in the floor or something :rotfl:

Awesome! Congrats to you too! Isn't NC just the best? I love Asheville, gorgeous up there! I have emailed with Tanis a little now and she has been awesome so far and so nice. I'm excited we both have her. :thumbsup2

Hey there! Thanks so much for the nice words. I bought the necklace from karendoane on Etsy. She really has some gorgeous stuff. Tanis has been great so far! I'm so relieved to have a good person in charge on our big day! :thumbsup2

I love the necklace! What a fun, unique find!
Thanks so much!

Finally an update!

Things are moving right along with the wedding (guess they should be since we're 3 months and 2 days out!!). I talked with Rosie last week about floral, decor, and photography. So excited! I decided I want the Tussy Mussy bouquet for myself exactly the way they show it in the photos with white roses, freesia and stephanotis. I think it's so pretty! I'm sticking with the lavender bouquets for my girls.

I requested Regina or Amy as our wedding photographer and fingers crossed that we'll get one of them. I've been really nervous about using DPS. I've seen some really gorgeous photos they've done but I've also heard some horror stories. I think Regina and Amy both seem to consistently turn out beautiful work though. We also booked an outside photographer, Tab McCausland, to do a session with DF and I at the Boardwalk after the wedding so if nothing else I'm sure those will turn out beautifully.

I decided to keep the decor at SBP minimal. It's such a pretty venue anyway that I don't think it needs much. I did request some vases with tall willow branches in them to go up near the alter (is that what you'd call it? an alter? sounds weirdly sacrificial to me...lol). I think I may want to do petals down the aisle too but I'm not sure about that yet. We might just have guests toss petals as we leave.

My most exciting update (in my opinion) is that I figured out what I want for our cake and heard back from Tanis that it will be no problem for the bakery! Yay! Here's a photo:

I love it. I told Tanis we wanted it to be just two layers and I also want them to work a couple of hidden mickeys into the vines here and there. It's sort of Disney Nature-ish, no? I love Disney Nature.

I also came across a hairstyle I'm thinking over. Maybe ya'll can give me your opinion? My hair is quite long at this point, so don't be confused by the pics of me on here with short hair or this style definitely wouldn't work, lol.

I like the simplicity of it and that it has a 1950's vibe to it. I'm just not sure though. :confused3 I have a hard time with my hair in general.

I guess that's it for now. Happy Friday everyone!! :dance3:

I love the cake! Great choice! I think the hairstyle looks nice. I like how it's easy and casual but still elegant. I personally am not much of a ponytail person, but I think it would look good on you :goodvibes

Hey! You guys are such a cute couple and everything looks great so far! I love the whole vibe of your wedding. It sounds like things are really coming together. :thumbsup2
We had Tanis and we LOVED her (still do!) ;)

Really, she was great, leading up to the day and on the day as well. My bouquet was wrong when floral brought it to me for our MK shoot but Tanis (and Rosie, who is also FABULOUS!) got it fixed and it was perfect!

Just little things all day, I'd ask her "What about the ___?" being all worried about some detail and she always said "Already taken care of" and gave me the sweetest smile.

She really is fabulous!

Congrats! You don't have much longer now! Soo exciting!!!!!:banana:

Thanks for the input!! :goodvibes I like it too but I'm not sure it's for me.

Love love love the bouquet idea and the earrings are so darling!! :bride:

Thank you so much! I love the bouquets too but the lavender is proving not that easy, or affordable, to come by so I'm actually rethinking that.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I'm so excited about everything! Can't believe I'm joining the ranks of the Disney brides. :thumbsup2

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I posted anything. Life had been really crazy lately. On top of both DF and I working two jobs apiece, we also recently had out apartment invaded by fleas. I have two indoor cats and never thought I'd have to deal with this. It's awful! It took us a month and a half and a crazy amount of work to get rid of them. We also decided that we want to try and buy a condo before the wedding which has been a whirlwind AND I got into an accident and totalled my car. Thank goodness nobody got hurt but it was still a pretty big setback for us.

On a happy note, we're only 42 days away from the wedding! I'm getting so excited!! DF and my brother went shopping for their outfits today. They're going to wear gray suits with ivory shirts and apple green ties and possibly converse sneakers (which I'm all for!). Only one of my bridesmaids has picked out her dress so far but I love it and can't wait to see what the other girls choose. I really love the look of non-matching bridesmaids.

I am excited about the final decision I made for their "bouquets" as well. I decided to go non-floral and am using these cute fans I found at BHLDN.
BMFans.jpg
[/IMG]

I'll have them carry the biggest fan. I think they're super pretty. They're multi-purpose too because in the middle of August I'm pretty sure we're going to be rather warm. :rotfl:

We picked out our ceremony music (finally!). It took us forever but I'm really happy with the decisions we ended up making. We're just going to use the violinist included with our package which I was nervous about but I think it will work out just fine. We're going to have the bridal party walk down the aisle to Whole New World (which I just think sounds really pretty on violin and Aladin is DF's favorite Disney movie). I'm going to walk down to Storybook Love which is the main theme from the movie The Princess Bride. I LOVE this song and was so afraid they wouldn't be able to do it because I couldn't find the sheet music for it anywhere. I talked to Tanis though and she checked for me, and lo and behold, they already had it! :cloud9: The recessional will be to God Only Knows by The Beach Boys (I've wanted this song to be included in my wedding ever since I saw Love Actually) and our first dance will be to When You Say Nothing at All from Notting Hill. (This is DF's favorite movie of all time which was one the first facts about him that made me realize how great he was!).

We've got our schedule finally nailed down for the whole trip. DF and I are flying down early on Friday. We plan to spend the day shopping the outlets and hanging out with one of my bridesmaids who happens to live in Orlando and DF's brother who recently got an internship with Disney's marketing department (so jealous!!!). Saturday will be Universal Day. This will be our first trip to WWOHP and I'm SO excited! I am a huge nerd and I love Harry Potter. Last time we came down my brother and I took pics in front of all the signs for it and now we finally get to see the real thing!!

Saturday night we're planning on heading into Downtown Disney to check out Jellyrolls for the first time. :cool1: I'm quite excited about this.

Sunday morning DF's lovely parents are hosting a pre-wedding breakfast for our families at 1900 Park Fare, which was DF's idea. I'm really excited about this because it's a character breakfast with Alice in Wonderland and Marry Poppins characters. We're including some Alice in Wonderland elements in the wedding and I would have loved to have the Mad Hatter make an appearance but unfortunately it just wasn't in the budget. This is a nice alternative for us and I'm really glad DF thought of it. :goodvibes

After breakfast, we'll head out to Epcot (my favorite!!) and spend the day there. We'll probably come back pretty early since the wedding is at 10am the next morning! :scared1: Lol. It's going to be an early morning. My mom and bridesmaids are going to come over and get ready with me (I bribed them with the promise of mimosas). I'm going to use Beaute Speciale as I've heard and seen great things from them. I decided on a hairstyle I think.

I'm going to a stylist here in my hometown this week for a trial run so I'll post pics from that afterwards.

My awesome MOH (who also happens to be engaged!) hosted a fabulous bridal shower for me recently. It was really perfect and I had a great time.

Mmmmm

So, that's probably enough updates for now, haha. I'll try not to wait another two months before posting again. Happy 4th everyone!

I am a huge Harry Potter nerd too! I am actually going down to Orlando in a week for a Harry Potter convention with a private event in the theme park after hours!! You will love it when you go there!

I also really like your idea to use fans instead of flowers. I think they're beautiful, and I'm sure that saves so much money! It's a also a pretty unique and fun idea.

Love that hairstyle! And the fans!

I'm a big Harry Potter fan as well!!

Jellyrolls is sooo much fun! You will love it!
