Day 1--Thursday, July 28, 2005

The day seemed to be never ending as I waited for 4:30 to roll around so I could leave work to head for the airport for my quick weekend solo trip to Walt Disney World. This trip was planned about three weeks in advance after learning that my favorite Jellyrolls pianoman, Scotty, would be performing a concert in the band he is in with his brothers--the Kilwein Family Tree-o. I was very excited about going to see the band, and I was looking forward to seeing Scotty and his brothers.

When the workday was finally done, a co-worker drove me over to the airport for my 6:50 p.m. flight to Orlando on JetBlue. There was one empty seat on the plane, and low and behold, it was right next to me! I sure was psyched that I would have a little extra room to stretch out on the plane. Life is good.

My plane landed right on time at 10:00 p.m., and my driver from Quicksilver was waiting for me when I got off the escalator at baggage claim. My driver Carlos was great. He was very friendly, and we enjoyed the riding chatting about his home country of Argentina and my hometown of Boston. The car was brand new, and spotless. I commented to Carlos on how quiet the ride was. We made a quick grocery stop at Albertsons (a nice store, but a very confusing layout--I prefer Publix, but it was already closed for the evening).

We were then on our way to Saratoga Springs, where I would be spending one night using DVC points. I had a studio on the first in Congress Park with a partial view of Downtown Disney and a quiet pool. I really liked my room--the room was spotless and fresh, the furnishing very tasteful. There didn't seem to be as many nooks and drawers to hide things away in as there were when I stayed in a studio at the Boardwalk. The bathroom seemed a bit bigger though.

After laying out the items I would need for my early morning golf game the next day, I changed and crawled into bed just a few minutes before midnight. At midnight, I heard the Pleasure Island fireworks, so I jumped out of bed, and ran to the window to catch the end of them, as I had never been to Pleasure Island in the evening before. They weren?t even worth getting out of bed for.
