Day Six—Monday, August 18, 2003

Cast of Characters
Me (Karen)—The planner of the trip and family Disney nut.
Linda—My older sister
Michael—My brother-in-law
Rob—My 12 year old nephew
Catie—My 10 year old niece

We left our room around 9:00 to head to Blizzard Beach. There were a lot of people at the bus stop, and we soon found out that many people had been waiting for the Blizzard Beach/Animal Kingdom bus for about a half hour. We had to wait another 20 minutes before a bus came, and everyone squished in like sardines so the driver didn’t have to leave anyone behind. I had Catie sit on my lap so we could fit another person in the bus.

When we arrived at Blizzard Beach, it was already packed. We found a couple of low chairs on the beach near the wave pool. The kids took a quick dip in the wave pool, and we went to the ski lift to go to the top of the mountain. We rode on Teamboat Springs together, and we all loved it. We then went over and road on the Double Dipper, and the Storm Racers. We went to grab lunch at the Lottawatta Lodge. I had a delicious fried chicken sandwich.

After lunch, we went for a spin around the lazy river, and got off at the Ski Patrol area. Robbie and Catie climbed across the iceburgs. They wanted to ride on the T-bar, but after waiting in line for about 10 minutes, they realized that they were two tall to ride it. We then walked back to the top of the mountain and road on Teamboat Springs again. Catie and Michael rode on Slush Gusher, and Robbie got in line for Summit Plummet. Linda and I grabbed an ice cream, and waited at the bottom of the hill for everyone. When Michael and Catie got off the ride, Linda and I took Catie to the Toboggan Racers. By the time we got back to our chairs, Rob was off the Summit Plummet, which he loved. We took a quick dip the wave pool and headed back to the hotel to get ready for our dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon.

We were planning on taking the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, and then taking a boat to the Wilderness Lodge, but the skies were really dark, and we knew a bad storm was going to hit. We made a dash for the bus to the Wilderness Lodge at the Ticket & Transportation. We made it there just in time. As soon as we got on the bus, the skies opened up into a huge thunderstorm.

We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge about a half hour early for our priority seating, so we browsed around the gift shop, and looked for hidden Mickeys. Rob turned twelve a few days earlier, and we decided in advance that we would be celebrating Rob’s birthday at Whispering Canyon. We had a really good time, and we all loved the food. The kid loved watching all of the activity, and participated in the Pony race. Rob asked for ketchup for his hot dog and fries.

Mid-way through our meal, our waitress called Rob to the middle of the restaurant with three other diners who were also celebrating birthdays. They had to take a pony ride around the restaurant, and everyone sang happy birthday to them. Rob got a yummy chocolate cupcake.

It was still pouring when we finished dinner, so we scrapped our plans to go to the Magic Kingdom and took the bus back to the Ticket & Transportation Center. We spent the night at the hotel, and the kids were glad to have time to play with the toys they bought during the trip.

The rain that night was ridiculous!
We were plannong on going miniature golfing that night-but the weather certainly had other plans.

At least your kids got to play with their toys!

Sounds like fun at the WCC. Would love to celebrate my birthday there! :)
