Day 4Tuesday, December 7, 2004
I woke up at 7:00, and got ready for another busy day. I walked over to the Tubbis at the Dolphin and grabbed a couple of Krispy Kremes for breakfast. I just cant resist a Krispy Kreme.
I took a walk around the Dolphin and Swan grounds, and checked out the pool, which was pretty cool. I also walked over to Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf Course so that I would know where it was, as I was meeting a bunch of DISers there later in the morning. I went back to the room, checked e-mail, and relaxed for a bit.
At 9:45, I walked over to Fantasia Gardens for the meet. KarenNY, Nativetxn, KathyTX, Hercamore, OldKicker, Snowwark, and TigerLily03 and her DH Ted joined me for the meet. We split into two groups, and played a round of golf on the Gardens Course. It was one of the cutest golf courses Ive ever played. The holes were a lot of fun to play. Everyone in our group had at least one hole in one during the match. OldKicker was the big winner with a score of 43. After the round of golf, I handed out golf balls as prizes to most of the folks who came to the meet.
After playing mini-golf, I mentioned that I was going to the Pizza Window at the Boardwalk to get a meatball sub. TigerLily03, her hubby Ted, Hercamore, and KathyTX joined me. KathyTX got a sausage and cheese calzone, and the rest of us got meatball subs. While we were eating, OldKicker and Snowwark walked by, and decided to join usOldKicker got a slice of pizza, and Snowwark opted for the meatball sub. We had a nice leisurely lunch, and I think I enjoyed the conversation with my new friends more than the food (which was very yummy).
After lunch, OldKicker mentioned he was looking for someone to ride Mission: Space with, so I told him that I would ride with him. Old Kicker, Snowwark, and I walked to Epcot. I ran to get fast passes for Mission: Space (even though we didnt need them) while OldKicker and Snowwark watched the Kristos. We then caught a set by Epcot Vybe. OldKicker and I rode Mission: Space while Snowwark stayed behind and Mouse Gears and shopped. We walked right on Mission: Space, and OldKicker and I were in a capsule by ourselves. Since I usually ride it as a single rider, I usually sit on the end, so I decided to sit in a middle seat to see if the experience was any different, but I didnt notice any difference.
After riding Mission: Space, OldKicker and I walked to Mouse Gears to find Snowwark. After walking around the store, we couldnt locate her. So, I said goodbye to Old Kicker, as I had to go back to the Swan to get ready for my evening out.
After a quick stop at the Swan, I walked to the International Gateway for the Disney Vacation Club Merry Mixer. I planned on meeting up with a lot of DIS DVC owners there, including Towncrier, KarenNY, TigerLily03, and Helenabear. I also met Caskbill at the mixer. A cute young elf was trying to pick up KarenNYI dont know if anything came out of it, but I never saw KarenNY the rest of the evening, so who knows
They were raffling off a DVC gift basket, which I had seen at the Disney florist on my Backstage Magic Tour on Monday.
After the DVC Merry Mixer, I walked through Epcot and hopped on the monorail to head to the Contemporary to meet KathyTX, her mom NancyTX, Iluvdisney, and her sister Jackie for dinner at Chef Mickeys. We had a great table in the corner that was somewhat separate from the rest of the tablesit was nice not to be crowded by other tables, and there was plenty of room for the characters to come and visit.
When our waiter Thomas was taking our drink order, Goofy walked over to our table. We all quickly forgot about drinks and started fawning over Goofy. No one was more excited about meeting Goofy than meGoofy is my favorite character, and no trip to Disney really begins until I get to meet Goofy. When Thomas came back to our table, I told him that he was playing second fiddle to Goofy, and the rest of the evening, I joked with him about being second fiddle to Goofy in my book.
At one point I was up at the buffet, and I saw Minnie Mouse going gaga over KathyTX. I dont think Ive ever seen any Minnie Mouse ever get so excited over one person. She was all shakey and jumpy. It was quite the interesting sight.
We all enjoyed watching a boy who was about 18 months old interacting with the character. He was just so excited to see every characterhe was touching their faces, and he had the biggest smile on his face. He was just the cutest little thing.
The food was quite good. I really enjoyed the carved prime rib and turkey. The thyme chicken was very tasty as well, although I prefer boneless chicken. I really enjoyed the salad bar as well.
The dessert bar was fabulous as well. I made my self a caramel ice cream sundae complete with sprinkles. I made the girls look at how pretty my sundae was before I ate it. I also grabbed a slice of the chocolate moose cake, but I was so stuffed, I couldnt even take a biteI guess my eyes are bigger than my stomach.
After dinner, we made a quick pitstop in the Contemporary ladies room. As we were walking out of the rest room, a little boy walked in with his mom, stomped his feet, and said, I dont want to go to the baffroom. It hit me funny for some reason, and several times during the night, I stomped my feet and said, I dont want to go to the baffroom. There is something satisfying about seeing a kid whining in Walt Disney World and knowing that he is not yours.
We then took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom for Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party, and we were shocked by the crowds. We had all done the Christmas party on previous trips, and none of us could recall ever seeing that number of people at the party. It was crazy!
KathyTX and I went over to Tomorrowland and went to grab some seats for Mickeys Twas the Night Before Christmas. I never miss this show. I just enjoy every second of it. I love it when Minnie Mouse sings Santa Baby to Santa Goofy. It is just the most adorable show.
After the show, we made our way to the hub to meet up with a bunch of DISers for Wishes. I had plans to meet up with Mouseaholic, who was celebrating her friend Joans remission in her treatment of cancer. I had been at the Christmas party with Mouseaholic last year just days after Joan was diagnosed with cancer, and given a bad prognosis. That night, Mouseaholic had told me it was her wish to take Joan to see Wishes. I was thrilled to hear Mouseaholic was taking Joan to see Wishes, and it was great to be there with them that night. Many DISers joined us for Wishes that night, including KristaTX, Towncrier, ASFCurly, and a few more.
After Wishes, a group of us decided to ride the Haunted Mansion together. On our way there, Towncriers wife Sue spotted a little boy dressed up as Santa riding in a stroller. She asked him if she could have a picture with him just in case he was the real Santa Claus. He was so adorable that I couldnt resist having my picture taken with him as well. He put his little arm around me, and rubbed my back while we were posing for the picture. He was just adorable.
We then went and road the Haunted Mansion. I road in a Doom Buggie by myself, and I spent the ride trying to annoy and scare the DISers riding on either side of me. That sure was fun.
We then made our way over to Pecos Bills Café to meet a group of DISers for the second Christmas parade. There were tons of DISers already in place on the rock wall including TigerLily03 and her hubby Ted, Helenabear and her hubby Luis, CrazyBoutDisney and DaveH, FLRose, Danny1649 and his wife Belinda, and Mouseaholic and Joan. More DISers showed up as parade time approached, including PhotobearSam, ThereseNJ, IluvDisney and her sister Jackie, and Dan Murphy.
While we were waiting for the parade to start, I spotted a cast member holding some wooden stick reindeer for the kids to play with. No one was riding them, so I walked over to the cast member and asked if I could use one. I think I shocked many a DISer when I galloped down the street on my wooden reindeer! Hey, if there is fun to be had, I will be having it.
The Christmas parade was a lot of fun. I really loved the music, and its fun seeing all of the characters decked out for the holidays. I decided to keep the camera in my bag and just enjoy the parade without snapping a million pictures. I did take it out for a few minutes, but overall, I just sat back, sang along, and enjoyed the parade.
After the parade, Towncrier, Sue, KristaTX, KathyTX, NancyTX, ASFCurly, and I went and took a ride on Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain is my favorite ride, and it was fun being in a log with a fun group of DISers.
It was then midnight, and the party was over. KathyTX and I were able to sneak in and have our free photo taken before leaving the park. KathyTX, NancyTX, and I took the bus back to the Swan. It felt good to climb into bed after a very busy day.
